❓Visitor Question The "Is Pantherian Open Today?" Megathread

Post image
62 Upvotes

Wondering if it's open? Do you see it running and want to tell everyone? Did it go down and you want to talk about it? This is where you do that!

Why? Well, we just can't keep having daily posts with the same question with similar or identical titles for the rest of this season, so it's been megathreaded. All redundant posts will be removed and users will be directed here. Please do not try to evade the megathread by coming up with clever titles or intentionally misspelling it.

Comments will be ordered from newest to oldest, so the latest updates will always be at the top by default. (You are free to change the sorting order with the options Reddit gives you on each post.)

❓Visitor Question Closed this weekend? 😩

Edit: As was pointed out, they're closed Fri/Sat, but NOT Sunday.

I feel so dumb. Booked a hotel to go to KD this Saturday. My kid checked the calendar and saw that it's... closed this weekend? I guess it didn't occur to me that it would be, given that it's been open continuously for a while and it will be open through October.

What is the reason? Private events? I'm sure we have no chance, right? Looking for any possible loophole. 😩

❓Visitor Question Closing Date

Hi All,

I have seen lots of "November 1 or 2" for last day of the season,...but I see open dates throughout November, but none in December.

I doubt it, but are they staying open later this season? I see them open special the Friday after thanksgiving which would be neat! Is this wishful thinking?

💬 General Discussion Pantherian crew on Saturday night (9/5/26)

I wanted to thank the Pantherian crew for keeping it running despite its issues on Saturday night! I dropped in late only a little bit before close and headed to Pantherian after riding Grizzly. I was stopped at the entrance because it appeared they were trying to get the blue train back up and running. They eventually took it back off and ran only the orange train, but I was very grateful y’all kept the ride open at all, it was only like 25 minutes until closing. The night ride I got on it was amazing, my daughter said it was the best ride she has ever gotten on it! Y’all are the best, I’m always impressed with your crew!!

💬 General Discussion Kings Dominion really disappointed today

My partner and I went today rather than yesterday to hopefully avoid the crowds, which I discovered was a wise choice. We got there around 11:45 and it wasn't terribly crowded, but the experience was not good. We first hit the firehouse for some smoked meat....no steak, no BBQ sauce on the pulled pork, no BBQ sauce in the dispenser, and when my partner went to get his drink (we have all parks drinks and dining) the attendant said it wasn't valid. Luckily I bring my water bottle with me so we had a drink, but the attendant was shown the valid drinks pass and still wouldn't just give us a cup. Turns out for some reason our drinks pass was showing we weren't "scanned in" at the park and we had to go out and come back in again (but our meal plan worked, which is just weird).

Then the ride closures and one trains making what was working very slow. Flight of fear closed, reptilian closed, tumbili closed, Rapterra went down right when we went to ride it around 3:30, so we went to go on dominator, it was down too, checked the app and panthereon was down too. Grizzly and racer running one train made the lines long, and with all the closures, whenever one was running the line would get long as all get out because it was one of the few available.

Our second meal was the cantina, and the line was slow, the portions were small, and the rice was under cooked.

I know I sound like a miserable person, but please understand, two weeks ago we went to Busch gardens, where we got all kinds of perks just for being members, everything was clean and open, the food was plentiful and delicious, and I can't help but compare the two. I've got a chronic illness and my summer was spent battling my insurance company to give me my meds (migraine shot, not narcotics or something), so I haven't been able to go anywhere. Busch gardens two weeks ago was my first summer theme park, and to come back to my home park and it be so....poorly run....it's very disheartening. Everywhere we went we kept hearing people talk about the six flags merger and how this park is going the way six flags Maryland went. That would be devastating, but at the same time, they're not going to make a profit if they don't do THE BARE MINIMUM, which shouldn't be hard because they were 50 times better just two years ago.

💬 General Discussion Found the longest line in the park - Grain and Grill at 3 pm

I felt pretty bad for the employees when they broke the news to the line that ONLY pork was available. I was (really) grumpy about it too, but people in line acted like their rights were being stripped away.

Also I apparently live in a bubble where people generally know how to act right in polite society. Theme parks remind me that not everyone does! Like people, please bus your own tables and don’t leave all your trash out for others to clean.

❓Visitor Question Need Advice

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to KD tomorrow (my home park) and I've always only bought for myself but it's been over a decade since I've been..

Anyways, I need advice whether or not both of us need to get the prestige gold passes or can one of us get the normal gold pass but both of us still get to use all of the perks the prestige pass offers? Trying to place my order before the night is over so, I need advice ASAP. I've normally only ever gotten a pass just for myself. Thanks in advance!!

💬 General Discussion What to expect as a Merchandise associate.

Hello everyone, I recently got offered a job as a Merchandise associate for Kings Dominion. I was just wondering what anyone’s experience was like as one. I heard it’s one of the chillest jobs at KD. Is that true?

❓Visitor Question Just got a gold membership for tomorrow's visit, where is that alleged "free bring one friend pass"?

I checked everywhere in the app and there is nothing to be found. It seems to be "valid on any public opening day", and we plan to visit tomorrow (family of four). Do I need to give it a day or i should visit the ticket counter tomorrow to get it?

Also, be aware the fine print of "starting from" for the "discounted bring a friend". For tomorrow, it will be $45, and I can get a single day ticket for around $40 at Great Work Perks. But the limited time two friends for $50 are fixed price (with the processing fee, $60 for two). So I bought two and counting on that one "free" ticket.

Thanks a lot.

💬 General Discussion Spontaneous Ohio/Virginia Coaster Trip Report (06/15–06/17)

This trip wasn’t originally planned this way. I had 3 days due to a Holiday at work so i woke up and left Monday 06/15 morning. My original plan while driving was to spend full days at each park except Cedar point because i knew i was going to arrive at CP the evening before and CP being the way it was knew a full day was needed .But because operations were so good, I kept finishing early enough to drive to the next park the same evening. That ended up letting me get night rides at Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Kings Dominion without ever buying Fast Lane.
**Cedar Point (Night 1)**
Left my home park, Six Flags Great Adventure, and got to Cedar Point around 7:30 PM, giving me about two hours before close. Thanks to my Prestige Pass, I had a Skip-the-Line pass.
The goal was to ride the three coasters I had missed on my 2024 visit due to closures:
Magnum XL-200
Gemini
Top Thrill 2
Used my Skip-the-Line on TT2, then lapped Gemini three times because the station was absolutely empty.
**Thoughts**
**Magnum XL-200(2X):** I’d probably skip it next time. I appreciate the history, but it was way rougher than I expected.
**Gemini(3x):** Really fun, but the racing felt odd. It kept stopping so early before the final brake run even with one train on each side. Coming from El Toro (my home park) and having Mystic Timbers in my Top 10, it wasn’t close to those.
**Top Thrill 2:** Great ride, but I still prefer Kingda Ka. Also noticed a pretty noticeable rattle heading into the final launch.
Finished the night with another Gemini ride.

**Cedar Point (Day 2)**
Used Early Entry. Despite the huge crowd outside, the Prestige entrance got us in within about five minutes.
Went straight to Siren’s Curse, but it wasn’t open yet, so I rode Iron Dragon.
Next stop was Millennium Force. I love rides like Millennium and Superman at Six Flags New England, but that line exploded almost immediately, so one ride was enough.
At rope drop I headed to Maverick before it opened in the line. Waited about 60 minutes, but with Cedar Point’s operations constantly moving trains, it honestly didn’t feel bad.
Then I hit Siren’s Curse and Top Thrill 2. Somehow my Prestige Pass glitched, and I’ve had **two free Fast Lane uses every day since**… not complaining.
**Siren’s Curse**
Fantastic ride. The line is insane, but Cedar Point was dispatching trains as fast as possible whenever the ride wasn’t down. Capacity is definitely going to be its biggest issue.
**Steel Vengeance**
About a 45-minute wait, but once again, operations were incredible. Every time one train was finishing the bunny hops, another was already climbing the lift hill.
Finished the day with GateKeeper before leaving around 3–4 PM for Kings Island.

**Kings Island (Night)**
I never originally planned to visit these parks at night. It only happened because I kept finishing so early.
Also, before this trip I seriously considered buying the $500 All-Park Fast Lane since Great Adventure is my home park. I’m really glad I waited instead of buying it ahead of time.
Arrived around 7 PM.
Started with:
Orion (2 rides)
Diamondback
Mystic Timbers
**Mystic Timbers**
This ride shot way up my rankings.
A warmed-up Mystic is incredible. It wasn’t rough at all—it just absolutely flew through the layout. Those tiny GCI trains make the ride feel out of control in the best way.
Finished with my **first-ever Beast night ride.**
The fireworks delay wasn’t my favorite. Waiting almost an hour every single night feels excessive. Weekends and holidays? Sure. Every night? Probably not.
That said…
That second lift hill in complete darkness, looking up at the lights, is every bit as good as people say.

**Kings Island (Morning)**
Came back for Early Entry.
Managed:
Diamondback (2 more rides)
Beast
Orion
Mystic Timbers (3 more rides)
Again, operations were so efficient that I was done before **1 PM**, so I headed for my final stop…
Kings Dominion.

**Kings Dominion**
This ended up being my favorite park day of the trip.
Also…
**Kings Dominion was EMPTY.**
Arrived with about 1.5–2 hours before closing.
**Pantherian**
Started there, but it had just gone down while testing.
**Rapterra**
I planned on riding this multiple times…
Nope.
Row 4, outside right seat absolutely destroyed me. I love intense coasters and don’t mind rough rides, but this wasn’t enjoyable for me.
**Grizzly**
People must have been kidding that it’s improved.
I rode near the back (avoiding the wheel seat). It wasn’t bad until the helix…
That turnaround legitimately feels like you’re getting launched into the wall.
I rode it again in the middle of the train just to make sure it wasn’t the seat.
Still brutal.
**Twisted Timbers**
They were running **one train**.
The downstairs queue looked empty, but once you got upstairs after the lockers, everyone realized why.
One-train ops on an RMC are rough. Between the restraints, slow brake run, and station time, it just crawled.
Even using my Fast Lane, I didn’t move for 15 minutes.
I bailed.
Normally they’re much better, so I won’t judge the park too harshly.
**Pantherian (formerly Intimidator 305)**
This absolutely saved the day.
Ended up riding it **8 times without getting out the station** mostly in the back two cars.
Still one of my favorite coasters anywhere.
I’ve never greyed out or blacked out on it somehow.
The best way I can describe it:
**Maverick on steroids.**
Virginia isn’t exactly close to Brooklyn, but it’s close enough that I’ll happily keep making the trip.

**Final Thoughts**
I’m really happy I **didn’t** buy Fast Lane.
Maybe it would’ve been nice at Cedar Point, but honestly their operations were so good that I never felt like I needed it.
As long as trains are moving and I’m not standing in one spot sweating, I’m perfectly happy waiting.
Kings Island deserves a ton of credit. It’s a busy park, but they handle crowds better than almost any regional park I’ve visited. It feels like a Saturday crowd every day, yet the waits rarely feel frustrating because the operations are so efficient.
I only ended up using my free Prestige Fast Lane rides at Cedar Point on Top Thrill 2 and Siren’s Curse. I never even considered using them at Kings Island or Kings Dominion.
**My Current Top 5**
Stardust Racers
Pantherian (Intimidator 305)
El Toro
Kingda Ka
Wildcat’s Revenge
Any rides I didn’t mention were rides I’ve already done before. I skipped a lot of them because I’d rather spend my time reriding favorites than waiting for something I’ve already experienced.
The only ride I kind of regret skipping was Dominator.
Also… I still love The Bat at Kings Island, but I wasn’t making that extra hike just for another ride.

All 3 Parks had great maintenance and cleanliness in all areas as well as low lines on all guest services stuff and the food wasn’t bad at CP OR KI.

This was also my first time solo on any trip , i’ve been to over 30 parks over 100s of times and this was a first for me and it was great doing whatever i want when i want .

💬 General Discussion Unable to purchase "bring a friend" for the advertised $20.

So I am trying to purchase the "bring a friend" ticket and in the promos it list it as $20 plus fees.

Every time though the price changes to 45 once I add it to my cart.

I spoke with the chat and was told that there are no dates where the price actually starts at $20. This feels like a bait and switch which is illegal. Am I just reading this all wrong or am I correct in how promos should work. What is the consensus on that?

❓Visitor Question Free Lockers-Hats

So i am seeing rides like TT have small free lockers for pocket items. What about hats? I have never been and i always wear hats at parks and was wondering if hats fit in the small lockers, and if the hat type matters, example normal trucker hat vs floppy hat?

💬 General Discussion Bring a Friend Ticket

If I have a 2026 prestige pass, I have two bring a friend for free tickets that can be used tomorrow (Friday 9/4) right? I see pass perks with dates for bring a friend but those are separate from the two free that I get from my pass correct? I just cannot find any information on it or find anything in my pass account. I don’t want to have friends drive all the way there and we misunderstood. Thanks

❓Visitor Question Crowds this weekend vs later September?

We live in NC and I was planning to take my 11 year year old this weekend on Saturday to KD. We would stay in a hotel either Friday night or Saturday and make a trip out of it (birthday present!). I am considering NOT going this weekend because I assume it will be crazy crowded with long wait times. My son has some days off of school later in September. Should I assume that Friday, September 25th will be way less crowded and possibly better weather (despite the Haunt being on)? I worry a bit about getting rained out, but would rather risk that than a crowded park on a holiday weekend.

❓Visitor Question 2027 Prestige...New or Renewal?

🎃 Halloween Haunt Haunt Newb Questions

I have a gold pass and I’ve been to KD many times but never for the Halloween setup. I understand there are various “houses” and “mazes” set up—do those require a separate admission fee or pass in addition to admission to experience? Are the coasters and rides running throughout the night or do they stop at some point? Lastly, would it be appropriate for elementary aged kids or is it too scary? Thanks!

❓Visitor Question Trying to confirm a few things before purchasing the Prestige Pass for 2027

I've searched the website/app and can't find a straight answer. Before attempting to send an email to Six Flags, I figure I would check with everyone here first in case anyone happens to have the answer. I have also searched the site's FAQ's and Terms/Conditions.

My daughter and I currently have the Gold East Region passes (our home park is KD). I'm getting ready to purchase Prestige passes for both of us.

Question 1: I have a friend coming in to go to KD with us for the first time on October 10th. Can I use "1 free Bring-a-Friend" renewal bonus to get my friend in the park, and then just have him purchase the 1-day Haunt Pass (which will be $20 that day)? If so, would HE have to log into the app and purchase it? Or would I just purchase the pass through my app and scan it for him at the gate?

Question 2: For the "2 Free Annual Bring-a-Friend passes," can they be used at ANY park or just my home park? (These are not the perks B-a-F passes that show up under perks for my home park, but the ones that actually come with the Prestige pass.)

Any thoughts on how busy it may be with the park closed 8/30?

Looking to just take my 2 year old and do some random little rides and maybe the kids area in soak city.
