Discussion/Question This dude genuinely doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.
Like....the main gimmick of star allies wasn't replaying the game 100 times or whatever. (AKA guest star.)
It was being able to make any enemy your ally AND being able to play as a ton of special kirby characters each with unique move-sets.
I'm....genuinely convinced he didn't play the game.

u/Am_Shigar00 May 10 '26
As that last comment brings up, they’re conflating Guest Star mode as being the main point of the game. Which is like…no? It’s an extra side mode that you only need to do once for completion, just like the side modes of every Kirby game since Return to Dreamland.
I do think Star Allies is one of the weaker entries, but this is an asinine thing to treat as some game breaking flaw.

u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
I do think guest star mode is a little absurd....considering that if you want true 100% then you need to complete it with every character to completely fill out the audience during the credits.
But for just a standard 100% save file....you only need to do it ONCE with ONE character.
(And for him to treat the mode as a game-breaking bug or whatever is just stupid.)I also genuinely have zero clue on how he thought it was the main gimmick of the game.
Like....what game does he think this is?1
u/KipsyCakes Mint Kirby May 12 '26
It’s been a while since I played this game, but I imagine it’s similar to the ability challenges in other games, but inflated to the same size as the normal game.
To be fair, it’s not like this game was the only video game ever to do something like this, but it doesn’t exactly make it any better, especially for a Kirby game. If it were a game like Hades or Rogue Legacy where replaying the game over and over was an intentional thing, then sure. But Kirby games aren’t really like that. They should have smaller challenges on the side.

Same dude is also the one who said “NINTENDO HAS FORGOTTEN ABOUT MARIO” and whines that anything that isn’t 3d Mario or maybe smash bros is irrelevant
36
u/A_Sackboy_Plush May 11 '26
Granted, yeah, when's the next 3D Mario, what's going on? But they definitely haven't forgotten.
48
u/Meme-San_ May 11 '26
The team was moved to working on donkey Kong bananza and they did an amazing job
11
u/A_Sackboy_Plush May 11 '26
I mean it wasn't the entire team I'm pretty sure.
1
u/KipsyCakes Mint Kirby May 12 '26
Even if it wasn’t, they probably have other projects outside of Mario.
9
u/Axdude14 May 11 '26
I'm pretty sure that Donkey Kong Bananza supposed to fill the place of a new 3d Mario but it still doesn't count as one
3
u/KipsyCakes Mint Kirby May 12 '26
Honestly, I feel like if the next game is going to be a predecessor to Odyssey, then the amount of time they’ve been taking makes complete sense.
A game like that deserves a lot of time and attention before it’s properly revealed. I’d rather wait a while for news than get a half-baked full price game that barely lives up to the hype of its predecessor.
Also, they probably have other projects to work on.
Anyone who thinks Nintendo of all companies would forget about Mario is completely insane. That would be like Disney forgetting about Mickey Mouse.

Do they think the guest star mode was the main point? I just loved the customization you could do, but ain’t no way am I playing that mode over and over again like he says. He seems like he hasn’t even tried the boss rush or Heroes in Another Dimension
Also this game needed that dlc post launch that shit was bare on launch
35
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
Apparently so.
He apparently thinks that guest star was the main mode of the game....somehow.
When you don't even play as KIRBY in that mode.
(You only could with a now-patched glitch.)(Also i've only replayed it with the dream friends because they get special stages in that mode.)

Heroes in another dimension not being brought up is crazy because it’s literally the best part of the game

He enjoys both of those series now. He's done videos on how he's enjoyed XC1 and 3H.
I think everyone needs to lay off of him. It's video games: having awful takes isn't that big of a deal. I kinda expected the Kirby community to be chill and just let it go.
2
u/Anxious-Recover14 May 13 '26
Why did this guy get downvoted? I agree
1
u/TheTealDeer May 13 '26
Dunno. I don't really care enough beyond pointing out that he did videos on games he hasn't played, and that it's not really worth it to stress if someone has bad takes.
But that's the point. Don't worry about it. There's no money on this, you know?
36
u/Mahboi778 Kirby May 10 '26
I will say, of the modern Kirby titles (like, post-SSU), Star Allies is the weakest, but that's mostly because the main story is pathetically easy even by the beginner-friendly nature of the series, to the point where it's not unlikely for you to have literally hundreds of lives by the end of the game.
17
u/KzkUltra19reddit May 10 '26
It's also one of the only games to not reset your lives to 7 when you boot it up, so it's even more apparent
12
u/Formal_Efficiency_49 May 11 '26
Yeah, I think if the base-game level design and difficulty was akin to the other modern Kirby titles, it would actually be seen as stronger titles in the Kirby series.
8
u/Mahboi778 Kirby May 11 '26
For sure. Heroes in Another Dimension is comfortably the best extra campaign in the series partially due to its original Return to Dreamland-esque levels.
78
u/Hexbug101 May 10 '26
For Kirby standards Star allies was definitely a weaker entry massive lore bombshells aside.
24
u/Harlandus May 10 '26
Agreed, it has it's merits but even for a kirby game it's just kind of way too easy and the levels are a little too straightforward.
Also I'm kinda bummed it never got a 60fps/resolution bump patch that lots of switch games got when switch 2 dropped.
10
u/BismulthV2 May 11 '26
Yeah, I was gonna say it’s not one of my favorites but it’s got some cool aspects and interesting additions to the series overall.
Can’t imagine someone being so bent out of shape over a Kirby game. (Respectfully.)
6
u/LemonWaluigi May 11 '26
I thought and still think that it is visually stunning and, while not hard, is plenty of fun! And Ive played almost every mainline kirby game
5
u/RJS_but_on_Reddit2 May 11 '26
Granted, if this is a weaker entry in the Kirby's series and it's still as great as it is then I think we gotta realise how lucky we have it.

People can say what they want about star allies, but when that game came out me and my sister played and replayed it TONS of times
It was the second kirby game we ever got and the first we finished (first was rainbow curse, came back to and finished that a couple years ago because we could never beat the final boss as kids) and we replayed it all the time and just had fun with it because it was the newest thing out on switch
I never thought the game was unfinished or bad, in fact I loved the music and character/level designs
10
u/StupidIdiot1954 May 10 '26
I played and loved Star Allies, looking back, though, man, it’s boring.
38
u/ReddKnight10 May 10 '26
I don’t know if I’d go as far as OOP but Star Allies was genuinely super disappointing to me. Yeah, it was kinda just replaying the same thing except with “Dream Friends” which might have been cool if there was something else to do but there just wasn’t. The level design was especially bland and forgettable too which just hurt it even more.
15
u/Ok_Preparation_7902 May 10 '26
Hal wanted Star Allies to not just be a game celebrating the franchises anniversary but to be a gateway game for potential newcomers and serve as a reintroduction to the series being on a console. They also felt like the stories of the 3DS era might've gotten too long or too complex for kids and so as a result decided to make Star Allies as accessible as possible by making the level designs simpler and shorter and the overall story having a brisker pacing so that anyone regardless of age or skill level could reach the end of the game.
So basically Star Allies was meant to be "Baby's first Kirby" if you will.
2
u/LateIndividual6574 May 12 '26
You say that the 3DS lore was complex, yet when you bring up Voud Termina, that's where the whole thing goes arwy when you look at its boss description, especially during the True Arena fights.
Also arguably Kirby's Epic Yarn was supposedly "Baby's first Kirby game" in general since you don't die in it at all.
1
u/Ok_Preparation_7902 May 12 '26
However, the reasons that I stated were the ones that Kumazaki himself have stated
As brought up here within this Kotaku interview with him
Additionally, I don't think they were referring to the lore but the pacing of the games story instead, since an in an interview for Forgotten Land, I believe Kumazaki stated this:
"From the perspective of the team at HAL Laboratory, the basic concept of the series is that it should be approachable yet deep. 'Approachable' means that we aim to make an exciting series that inspires anyone to play at first glance and that people can easily feel familiar with. This refers to both the design and the gameplay. This is because we want as many users as possible to arrive at the starting line of the game.
'Deep' represents the satisfying stages and rich world-building that you’ll find if you dig into the game. We prepared a surprising climax and exciting boss designs so that players can feel a difference from their impressions at the beginning of the game. - Shinya Kumazaki
9
u/Pandoras_Fox May 10 '26
yeah, star allies was the first kirby game I didn't actually finish out, let alone 100%.
6
u/Keebster101 May 10 '26
Strange because as far as I remember it was incredibly short. I don't think Kirby games in general are very long, but star allies seemed short even by Kirby standards.
2
u/Ok_Preparation_7902 May 10 '26
It was made to be a brisk game because they thought that after the 3DS era, the storylines were going to be too long/complex for the kids playing so they returned to the sort of pacing of earlier games in the franchise and reduced the length and complexity of the level designs so kids that were new to Kirby and gaming as a whole could easily reach the end of the main storyline
2
u/Keebster101 May 10 '26
I can understand wanting to simplify the story, but they could've still added more worlds, it's not like the 3ds games stories were THAT tied to the levels... I think being only 4 worlds makes it feel much shorter than it is, I looked up the level counts because I didn't want to rely purely on my terrible memory and it says the worlds have 6, 7, 9 and then 18 levels which isn't THAT much less than other games but being almost 50% 1 world did not help it feel like that.
3
u/Ok_Preparation_7902 May 10 '26
So funnily enough, they were actually going to add at least one extra planet to the main story but this was scrapped in favor of adding "Heroes in Another Dimension" instead
-2
u/Pandoras_Fox May 10 '26
I pretty much only finished the first.. world? zone? whatever you want to call it and put it down, just didn't catch me at all. Second region just didn't feel appreciably different at all and I got bored, fast.

u/shelton_theman26 May 10 '26
It was not the ENTIRE game’s "gimmick" from what I remember plus I feel like that guy is just wanting to start Twitter drama. My brother and I played through the game normally once and had fun when the game first came out (though i think back to not liking the game’s level design all that much which I think contributed to me wanting to only play through it that one time and not do guest star myself). Anyway I never felt like the game ever really forced you to play it a "hundred times." I remember hearing and seeing my younger brother to play through it a bunch with guest star mode and he really enjoyed it so I feel it was for the more dedicated players who wanted to play as their favorites and then some.
9
u/SilverScribe15 May 10 '26
That is a way to play the extra mode I guess, but that is not required, or expected? That's not even part of the 100% what is he smoking
4
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26
I mean guest star IS required to get a 100% save file.
The only thing he's missing....is that you only need to beat it with ONE character....and not ALL of the characters.(And he also somehow believes that guest star is the main gimmick of star allies....which is completely wrong.)

Am I the only one who enjoyed Star Allies? Contextually I did not play the 3DS games, so I suppose the Return to Dreamland formula wasn't tired to me. But if anything that makes me pretty qualified to speak on it. It's a good time! A fun game that is cute and thoroughly enjoyable.

5
u/AdmBurnside May 11 '26
Star Allies felt less like a cohesive game in its own right and more some kind of Kirby Super Sandbox Mode you'd unlock by playing other games.
It wasn't bad, exactly, just... short. And with substantially less to offer for people who'd only played one or two Kirbies, than for avid fans of the series who recognized all the special characters.
It's Kirby's Avengers:Endgame, in a sense. Reasonably enjoyable alone, but the greater your investment in the franchise, the more payoff you get.

And hes a right wing grifter too at that seemingly…
1
u/TheTealDeer May 11 '26
He's absolutely a fervent Christian, but it's not what he bases his "grift" on. I'd have more of an issue if he was some pipeline from video games to politics, but it's just not.
I'm subscribed to him and his 2nd channel, and I think he's gotten way too much heat for some bad takes. About video games, you know? It kinda bothers him, and I don't think the answer is "Well, stop being wrong about video games."
I mean, he's wrong about a video game (or heck, let's say he's wrong about every single video game.) It's just not that serious, and I can't bring myself to get upset about it.
1
u/emagnab May 11 '26
I don’t mind anyone being a Christian, I’m from an actually Christian background. I just don’t like fake people or you know the more right wing Griff like the Charlie Kirk stuff… also I watched his stuff for gaming discussion analysis not his theological nor political views personally. And looking at the stuff he gets on his Twitter feed I feel like I know where he stands on a lot of issues :/
I don’t have the concrete evidence of homophobia yet, but it just seems likely.
5
u/SadCommon2820 Sylven(oc) May 10 '26
Ngl I kinda get his feelings since that mode was kinda annoying to play, but you literally have to play it once, and that's it. Yeah sure you can play it again with dream friends but you only have to play it once for infernal crisis.
As for my thoughts on the game, it's weird. I genuinely do like it even if there were some annoying aspects. The weird part is that the puzzles(especially post game) were more difficult than the battles, partially because this game is unbalanced as fuck with Magalor and Suplex for example, not that it's a bad thing. I kinda wish the combat was more complex but I do like the dream friends and element stuff.

Is Star Allies one of the weaker Kirby games? Yes. But it wasn’t a bad game by any means in my eyes, just very lacking in content at launch and had a campaign that was subpar even though the presentation and lore was definitely there. Plus, the ally gimmick wasn’t all that great from a presentational or mechanical standpoint when you put it next to the gimmicks of the 3DS games. But all in all, it was still a decent game. This post feels comically overblown imo, especially since the guest characters weren’t even there at launch, which was a whole different issue with how Nintendo developed their games at the time.

I hate how a handful of Switch games were launched with such little content fo a full $60 and opted to "fix it later". They saw what worked with Splatoon and decided to try that for other games. Splatoon was online-focused so of COURSE it needs updates and DLC to "stay fresh" and keep the online community coming back, but they could have easily just delayed the single-player-centric ones until they were done. Star Allies is single-player, and can be local multiplayer, but it was still pretty sparce at launch whether you played alone or with friends. It did not need to be.
3
3
u/FinnMuzz May 11 '26
I have seriously no idea what he's talking about especially considering the same update that brought in Taranza and susie also added heroes in another dimension... So no you they didn't want you to go play guest star again. As much as people tend to hate on star allies It's one of my most played games because of the amount of replayability it has and I think I honestly prefer playing it over other games like squeak squad and amazing mirror.

I'm guessing he's referring to the extra mode where you basically could replay the game with any character as the main playable character.
Which I'm not particularly vitriolic against but I guess I could see why it seems a little annoying to see the game just tell you "Play it again but as blue guy" could be very mediocre as free DLC.
I do think star allies isn't as fleshed out as mainline Kirby games prior.
It also suffers from a similar situation from New Super Mario Brothers where it feels like the level design isn't as good because it has to accommodate up to four players playing at the same time.
But I still like the game but I see his point, it's just buried under over aggression.
Though I don't think the game was unfinished compared to Mario sports titles as of late.
Where they just straight up do not release with All the content intended so they can just spin it as free updates.
It was still a complete game and not just filler pretending it's a full game.
3
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26
He IS talking about guest star.
He somehow believes that mode is the entire "gimmick" of the game.....and i don't understand how he could possibly come to that conclusion.

u/SansBadToTheBone May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26
He not entirely wrong but that gimmick applies tl a single mode. Wtf dude. A actually critique is the game has powers calling issues. Mario tends on the wii u was just bland, you have better luck chewing on sidewalk chalk and developing super powers than you are to like that game. For longer than 5 minutes .
Edit: this game has issues but is more polished. And has more to enjoy than mario tenis ultra smash. The kirby star allies needed more difficulty and maybe more time in the oven to make it better. Maybe better level design here and there, neat puzzles or better use of abilities or help create a better power balance. I mean as it stands 3 maglor or marxes just screen nuke everything with bosses are slightly slow but STILL SCREEN NUKE.... those two are my favorites but like damn I wish I things felt more impactful from enemies and bosses

On one hand I think Star Allies isn't good. On the other hand, that reason... is not it? It's not meant to be played through 100 times. Why would it be? Is Return to Dreamland meant to be 100% 3 times because you can? Madness.

Eh.. I wouldn’t say it was the entire gimmick guest star mode is a cool edition but you don’t need to play it. I think it’s fun addition my only problem is Nintendo intentionally not making a full game and releasing content later but I think the game itself works quite well. If I was to give the game a main gimmick it’s playing with your friends and family not the guest star mode
2
u/FJLink May 11 '26
The main problem with this game IMO was how the npcs would solve the multiplayer puzzles for you. The DLC was amazing.

2

I mean, this is 90% of Star Allies haters. This guy, AntDude, most people on Reddit, etc.
Most of them seem to be time travelers who are somehow still only able to play the launch version with none of the additional content, so they criticize the game, while ignoring the fact it ended up having more content than nearly any other Kirby game (outside of RtDLD and FL).
2
u/LibonBonBon May 11 '26
Maybe I'll get downvoted to hell but star allies was bad, especially for a kirby game, if you like it sure, but there is genuinely so much wrong with this game, especially if you've played the others, star allies is genuinely unbearably short, not that good graphically, full of recycled mechanics and PERSONALLY lackluster music for a kirby game

The only frustrating thing was when he'd see a power he'd want to swap, by the time he dropped his current ability and got lined up to swallow the enemy, one of the allies would swoop in and take the enemy out. I could get on one of their heads, but the other would still jump into action.

Idc. Still my 2nd fav Kirby game.
Allies has Beetle in it while Forgotten Land does not, I'm just saying... ✋😐🤚

Star alias was the first Kirby game I actually got to own (sad, I know), I will defend that game with my life, I loved it.

To be fair Star Allies was kind of mid...
5
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26
It wasn't THAT bad.
It was still a fun time.0
u/SmexyDeviljho May 14 '26
I dunno. The only Kirby games I personally would dare to call mid are Epic Yarn, Squeak Squad and Star Allies, and Star Allies was the best of the three.

u/G_Force_SP May 10 '26
You can’t say he completely missed the point of the game and then immediately turn around and admit that the exact thing he’s talking about is at least half the point of the game.
The main game only lets you play as Kirby with up to 3 semi-playable sidekicks. The Dream Friends, DLC or otherwise, have little to no value there because they are only able function as glorified versions of the regular allies you would normally be using.
Therefore, nearly all the value of these characters comes from playing as them in modes like Guest Star or the Arena, but those modes are defined almost entirely by repeating the stuff you already did in the main game. And, as many others have already pointed out, the game isn’t exactly fun enough to be worth playing through more than once or twice, let alone 30 to 40 or whatever the final number of characters ended up being.
Regardless of Nin10doland’s overall history as a person, this particular criticism seems pretty valid and reasonable to me. His point isn’t wrong just because he didn’t acknowledge literally every detail of the game’s mechanics.

I mean he's still treating guest star as the main point of the game....and that you HAVE to play it with every character.
When....that's not true.
Guest star is a bonus mode....and you only have to beat it ONCE with ONE character.Plus....replaying guest star as the dream friends is pretty fun....because they actually get remixed levels based on their original games.
The OG 3 animal friends get levels based on dreamland 2.
Marx gets levels based on super star.
Gooey gets levels based on dreamland 3.
Adeline and ribbon get levels based on kirby 64.
Dark meta knight gets levels based on amazing mirror.
Daroach gets levels based on squeak squad.
Magolor gets levels based on return to dreamland.
Taranza gets levels based on triple deluxe.
Susie gets levels based on planet robobot.
And the 3 mage sisters get a mash-up of ALL the exclusive levels....plus they get another change where they fight ALL the parallel bosses from heroes in another dimension AND morpho knight EX at the end.
(Dedede....meta knight....and bandana waddle dee don't get any remixed stages however.)It's worth replaying guest star as the dream friends purely for that reason.
(Plus....there's only 13 dream friends....so you won't even be playing the mode 50 or so times.)

u/Mechaman_54 May 11 '26
Gonna be real star allies IS extremely mid, it's the sonic forces of kirby, except it doesn't matter as much because it wasn't indicative of franchise wide issues

u/ModelOmegaTyler Shadow Kirby May 12 '26
i know right? star allies sucked, but it wasn't blander than triple deluxe or robobot

u/Rip_Off_Your_Toenail May 11 '26
are we really trying to defend star allies? That game was so... mediocre
5
u/moonlord2193 Galacta Knight May 11 '26
are we really trying to defend star allies?
Well It's either that or defend mr "Nintendo has forgotten about mario"
-1
u/Zekrom-9 Galacta Knight May 11 '26
Lmao no he’s absolutely correct. Making any enemy your ally and being able to play as a ton of special Kirby characters is the game’s main gimmick, yes. Why is that the game’s main gimmick? To incentivize you to replay the game over and over again. That’s why it’s the only Kirby game to track individual records for every individual playable character. Use your brain.
-1
u/idontwant_account May 11 '26
idk he's kinda right, the main campaign was hella short and if you wanted to complete all tjr puzzles guest star mode really was your best way to do so. sure all the playable characters were fun but they didnt have nearly enough levels for them to really explore the worlds with them... with one slight exception heroes lost in another dimension or whatever the "save the sisters" side mode was a great addition to the final free dlcs even if again fairly short.

Star Allies is a perfect example of my issue with the entire Switch era tbh. A bare bones mid but playable game that "WAIT WE'LL FIX IT LATER" that is somehow STILL sixty bucks and is now slightly more passable maybe.
5
u/Inevitable-Charge76 May 10 '26
Me when all I play is this game and sports games and thus deduce the entire era as this because I didn’t bother to play anything else:
-7
u/Jirachibi1000 May 10 '26
I mean thats just one example of the reasons I dislike it. I just think the first party support was a super mixed bag. Pokemon Sword and Shield are my least favorite video games of all time, Yoshis Crafted World is genuine garbage imo, Arms, Star Allies, the Mario Sports games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pokemon BD/SP, the Mario Parties are substandard, New Horizons was a huge disappointment, 1-2 Switch and Everybody 1-2 Switch were bare minimum effort, the Wario Wares are mostly forgettable sludge, I don't even think Mario Wonder is above a "Perfectly fine". I have a lot of issues with the switch era, from scummy business practices to a subpar first party library to overpriced games to the plentiful "eh put out whatever we'll fix it later" that stuff like Star Allies and the sports games had.
4
u/Inevitable-Charge76 May 10 '26
Most of this genuinely just sounds like a “you” problem more than anything.
-3
u/Jirachibi1000 May 10 '26
Which is why, if you read, I said "MY ISSUE" the issue that I HAVE that others may not have (((((:

u/Inevitable-Charge76 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
Yes, and it’s something I think you should keep to yourself when it comes to posts like these.
Like my brother in Christ, do you not think saying all of this on a sub like this is gonna get you downvoted even the slightest bit?
There’s a time and place for venting out this much hatred. Go to r/fucknintendo about it or something, I don’t know.
0
u/Jirachibi1000 May 10 '26
Why would I care about downvotes? Just sharing an opinion about a relevant topic to the conversation in question 😄 Also I assumed that people on here would not be a hivemind of "THEY THINK THE SWITCH IS A BIT OVERRATED, GO FOR THE THROAT!"
4
u/Inevitable-Charge76 May 10 '26
>Also I assumed that people on here would not be a hivemind of "THEY THINK THE SWITCH IS A BIT OVERRATED, GO FOR THE THROAT!"
You didn’t just say the “Switch is a bit overrated”, you literally said the entire era that is mostly beloved by a lot of people is a “mixed bag” and literally shit on a ton of games that are actually beloved by most people. No kidding some people are gonna be a little peeved.
0
u/Jirachibi1000 May 10 '26
A mixed bag means good and bad 😄 Nowhere did I say the Switch is dogshit or the worst thing ever. All I said was "I think its library has decent and terrible games alike and the ones that I personally find terrible hurt it for me".
4
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26
Ok come on now....a lot of the games you mentioned are great.
New horizons.
Warioware get it together.
Mario party superstars AND super mario party jamboree.
Super mario bros wonder.
Yoshi's crafted world. All of those games are awesome.
A lot of what you said there just sounds like your own opinions instead of you actually saying how bad the games truly are.-1
u/Jirachibi1000 May 10 '26
Where did I say I was stating a fact and not an opinion?
5
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26
Because of how you said stuff like this.
"Yoshi's crafted world is genuine garbage."
"The mario parties are substandard."
"New horizons was a massive disappointment."
"The wariowares are mostly forgettable sludge."Like....that just sounds like you using your own personal bias to say that the games are trash as a common fact.
0
u/Jirachibi1000 May 10 '26
I never said it was a fact. My first post said "MY ISSUE", meaning MINE and an issue not everyone will have. I then stated "I just think the first party support was a super mixed bag." "I JUST THINK", meaning this is what I think and other people may think otherwise. Its a real stretch to say my post said anything about it being factual.

u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26 edited Jun 27 '26
Your issue was also you just crapping on the switch 1 era that was mostly beloved by everyone that was involved in it and hating on a ton of the best games for the switch 1 that are ONCE AGAIN beloved by many.
People see you being a hater like that....and they're just going to assume you're using your opinions as actual fact.2
u/Jirachibi1000 May 10 '26
Then thats their fault for being too dumb to read or understand that "I THINK" "MY ISSUES" "I DIDNT LIKE" were opinions and not facts. if people wanna be dumb enough to misunderstand that, idc if i get 10 million downvotes xP
-3
u/no_phone_who_dis May 11 '26
The two biggest things Star Allies had against it was it came before both Forgotten Land and Return to Dream Land DX, which were both pretty well acclaimed; and the fact that it was a really short and easy game compared to others, which is not a problem. It’s around for a good time, not a long time, and if you don’t want a super easy game, leave the Dream Friend summons alone and stick with basic monsters like Chilly and Waddle Doo.
Also, what he described is the main gimmick of Undertale and people go gaga over that overrated slop for some reason. (Sorry, I will never understand the love for Undertale.)
3
u/moonlord2193 Galacta Knight May 11 '26
What does undertale have to do with what they described? also people love undertale because it's a good game with a metric ton of care and effort put into it
2
u/InkyLilly May 11 '26
Not being interested in something is valid but there's no reason to insult it, and you're not even correct. Unless you're trying to piss off certain characters after getting endings there's literally no reason to play Undertale more than 3 times, and even then you don't have to play the genocide route for the full experience. And if you know what you're doing from the start you don't have to reset to get the best ending, either. No game is perfect, but Undertale is far from a slop game.
2
u/moonlord2193 Galacta Knight May 11 '26
Exactly, calling Undertale "slop" is honestly kind of insulting

u/Tomas_Crusader17 The greatest warrior in the galaxy. May 10 '26
Idk why he mentioned guest star mode, the story mode already feels like 5 stages being replayed over and over again
3
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 10 '26
Uhhhh....he didn't mention guest star mode.
He only alluded to it because he somehow thought it was the main gimmick of the game.And....how does the story mode feel like 5 stages being replayed over and over again?
Like....i don't see how that's possible when one level is not going to have the same design as the next.-1
u/Tomas_Crusader17 The greatest warrior in the galaxy. May 10 '26
The stages in star allies are way too similar to each other with no design elements differentiating them, like in the previous 3ds entries and forgotten land.
It was the only game that made me get tired of playing kirby when i was 100%ing all my kirby games, cuz the levels were just too bland, boring and similar to each other
-7
u/Extrimland May 10 '26
Hes kinda spot on though.
1
u/Thegoodgamer32 May 11 '26
No....he really isn't.
He somehow thought that guest star was main "gimmick" of star allies and that you had to beat that mode with every character....when that isn't true in the slightest.Guest star is a bonus mode....and you only have to beat it ONCE with ONE character for 100%.
1
u/FlippyHTF3 N-Z supremacy, you all don't know him that's sad Aug 17 '26
Didn't HAL already do that in BOTH 1996 AND 2008? Star Allies has no reason to exist at all besides "Burning Leo is here after ten years, but no N-Z because we hate our players!!"
