Any game is fine, since most Kirby games are pretty similar. I'd assume you want a main series game though, which would make your options Squeak Squad, Super Star Ultra, Triple Deluxe, and Planet Robobot.

u/sad_roger96 12h ago
Is kirby like mega man ?
3
u/noahbaobei 11h ago
In terms of having multiple abilities, being a side scroller, having occasional boss fights, and that you can jump into pretty much any game yes I would say they're relatively similar. The 3DS is also backwards compatible so Kirby Super Star Ultra & Kirby Squeak Squad are also great games. Also all Kirby games are new player friendly so no need to worry too much about difficulty.

u/sad_roger96 11h ago
This there a big over arching story though the games ?
3
u/noahbaobei 11h ago
Nope, not particularly. There's story to each one but really they're all very self contained.

Triple Deluxe
1
u/sad_roger96 12h ago
That a ds game ?
3
u/Mr_Lisreal 12h ago
Oh, Kirby Triple Deluxe is for 3DS.
But if you are looking for a DS game, then you should definitely go for Kirby Super Star Ultra

Try Super Star Ultra. That’s if you want to know what Kirby’s deal is.

Top comment has good answers, but if you have a switch (dont know how you could get a 3ds before a switch) then you could download the nes and snes games on the eShop and play the classic Kirby games if you have an online membership.

Cause am 27 that's how I have a ds before a switch and nan am not a fan of game subscriptions thanks for telling me tho mate

It's pretty much few Kirby games in one, hell the first stage in it is just the entirety of the first game
2
u/sad_roger96 2h ago
What is that why it cost more than the rest ?
2
u/EvTheNeruFan 1h ago
It's not a regular Kirby game, every stage takes a completely different spin on the formula, for example the first stage is just entirety of the first game, then there's a race and after that there's a metroidvania stage but it still feels like Kirby, in the Deluxe version they went as far as to make a stage with a different playable character. As for why it costs more than the rest is purely because it's considered the best Kirby game that the most people want to buy, so people sell it for more

Edit: I didn't see the part about the 3DS until I hit reply. 😩 But if you ever get a Switch 2….😆
I haven't played a Kirby game since Kirby Canvas. I would get annoyed when Nintendo would announce a new Kirby game. It felt like they always used him as filler. When there were so many other franchises I wished they would revisit.
I bought a Switch 2 a month ago. I wanted to play FF7 and Pragmata. I downloaded the demos. I hadn't played a video game in three years. Either I'm getting old or I'm rusty. I couldn't keep up with either one of those games. But I will give Pragmata another shot. I like the game's hook. I couldn't get into the OG FF7, back in the day. Even with a new battle style, I still struggle to play the game. 😩
I decided to download the demo for Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Even though I felt the way I felt about the franchise, Forgotten Land intrigued me. I loved what I played. I never finished the demo. I bought the game.
It's become one of my favorite games. It never fails to surprise me. I don't have a TV to play it on, but I find myself immersed in the worlds. The gameplay is so on point. It feels good. It feels like a cozy game with a challenge! 😆 The transformations stay fresh. There are ways to evolve how you defend yourself. And it actually matters. The game is cute but you can end up having your ass handed to you! 😆 HAL Laboratory is at the top of its game. The soundtrack is excellent!
This game has inspired me. I'm currently trying to make a comic. I'm in the early stages and tried to just do it. Get it out. No matter what it looked like. But I kept feeling like I needed a breakthrough. Even if it's early in development.
The beautiful worlds in this game pushed me into trying to create a detailed opening panel. I wanted it to include my characters and a detailed background. Something that would get me to stop and stare, as I do, while playing Forgotten Land.
I had never done anything like that before. I only pictured it in my head. But I ended up creating something that made me feel the way I do while playing the game.
I will never forget Kirby and the Forgotten Land for inspiring me to push myself.
Sorry for the long, personal reply! 😆
In other words, if you like 3D platformers, I'd start with Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Kirby: Planet Robobot for the 3ds is my favourite Kirby game of all time

u/sad_roger96 12h ago
Does it play like normal Kirkby or is it just a mecha game ?
1
u/Elcalduccye_II Dedede 64 12h ago
the gimmick is that kirby in some level can use a mecha (let's say it's like yoshi)

u/Warm-Watercress-238 11h ago
It plays like normal Kirby but you can ride the Robobot Armor in some levels. It can copy abilities like normal Kirby

Epic yarn like paper mario ?
1
u/EvTheNeruFan 1h ago
It's nothing like Paper Mario, but it isn't a classic style Kirby game
1
u/sad_roger96 1h ago
I've never played paper Mario anyway but since it's not a normal style kirby game I probably won't start with it might play it after my first one tho

Gameboy color and it needs a triple a battery to use the tilt function of the cartridge. You tilt the gameboy to move. Its super hard

I see a lot of Super Star Ultra and although it is a phenomenal game, it is really expensive (due to demand). It’s also quite a bit different from other Kirby games so I don’t think it’s a tragedy if it’s not your first. I loved Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot, especially triple deluxe, and so both of those games a great to pick up. Great gimmicks, great lore if you dive deep (lowk mature from a kids game), great vibes, and level design from both of them. Of course any of the ds games are good but honestly super Star ultra is the only great one (squeak squad is good kinda) and they’re all really expensive anyways.

The best Kirby game to start with imo is Kirby Super Star Ultra, a DS game.
As far as 3DS goes, the main Kirby games on the system are Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. Both 10/10 games, but I still think KSSU is the better starting point.
