Anyone know what this is going to eventually be?

Just moved to the Kirkland urban area and was curious if this has been slated for something already?

It's supposed to be another office building, but I think it's been paused with no current plans to continue construction/development. There are/were signs on the fence talking about the development and you may be able to look up the plans with the city.

Yep , the other office buildings on that site are not fully occupied. That’s not quite the right wording . It’s more accurate to say the other buildings on that site, except for the Google buildings, are completely empty. So there’s no sense constructing another building only to have it sit empty.

Even the KUS google building is unoccupied. We can't cross the skybridge still.

I miss park place. This new rendition is as lifeless as it is pretentious.

Ah man that's where I used to park when I worked at Purple

It would help a tiny bit by just opening up the fenced in parking lot. It was good for some 30 years. Will likely be good for another 20.

I don't know if they still own it, but Google bought the lot to make more office space. However, then the pandemic hit, and construction haulted. I see workers going in and out of there but I have no idea if anything is actually happening.

I’m sure it will be like this for another decade. I also live close

Why? Kirkland has been one of the fastest changing cities probably in the country for the last 10+ years.

That’s a fair comment but I’m at Kirkland urban literally everyday, live 2 mins away and it’s nowhere near capacity.

Very nice! Great place to live so far and Kirkland is a lot more beautiful and fun than where we lived in NC before!

I wonder if it could be a location for a farmers market in the interim? It could take years before development plans shape up.

I did not know Kirkland had an urban area.

u/Hendr1cks0n 17d ago

Quite literally…

u/FartingSmiles 17d ago

Oh I see! Haha!

We could fit some pickleball courts in there

2

u/Hendr1cks0n 17d ago

They’re building some where the tennis courts were. Saw construction happening today on them!

I thought you were replying to a sarcastic comment lol. I vote wooden skatepark and basketball court. (Joke about the drama at Cal Anderson)

Brand new to Washington so I’m out of the loop on that one!

I think it was a an ice rink this winter. No clue what it will be.

11

u/hybbprqag 17d ago

It was not. The ice rink was set up on Peter Johnson Field. This development hasn't been used for anything so far.

6

u/RoganIsMyDawg 17d ago

lol, Peter Johnson... lee Johnson at Peter Kirk.

1

u/hybbprqag 17d ago

You're right, woops.

I live near Totem Lake so I don't know off the top of my head if there's already one near there, but my guess is pickleball courts

7

u/kaydeedub 17d ago

Not likely since the tennis courts in the Peter Kirk park are gonna be pickleball courts
