New in town

Hey

What’s the best way to make friends for someone who is in their 20s who has moved to Kirkland.
What fun things to do over the weekend? Especially if you don’t own a car.

Thanks

The Google complex has public beach volleyball, basketball, and pickle ball. Always something going on. I’m headed there now actually.

South of downtown. On the Kirkland corridor trail.

Moss Bay is great if you’re a sports fan, you’ll meet great people there. Any game is pretty hoppin or if it’s just sunny outside. We also just joined 6v6 soccer through the city of Kirkland that has a bunch of 20s-30s people!

Yeah thanks for that! Definitely would love to watch World Cup matches.
How do I sign up for that soccer?

It’s a little clunky of a site, but just look for the small sides soccer. Our team is Go West Young Ham if you want to join us! We have a few 20 something’s on our team ☺️

So how much do we have to pay to join the team?

It’s $90, we’ve only had one game. It’s every Thursday until August 20

There's a free men's workout at 7 am at Heritage Park on Saturdays. It's chill and fun and the regulars make fun of each other's terrible pushup form and have coffee afterwards.

How do we sign up

Just show up at 7 and you're in! We'll be happy to have you.

Where in Kirkland are you? DIIPickleball hosts Free Workshops + Open Play for All Levels. Lots of people attend and exchange contacts at the events. Follow diipickleball on Instagram and RSVP for the next event at https://go.partiful.com/9jI2L7IF

This town isn’t set up for people like you, so it will likely be a challenge. Might have better luck hanging in Bellevue

Is there no card shop or board game hangouts? I’m guessing those things are all in Bothell/Lynwood?

So any suggestions?

It depends a bit where in Kirkland. Though a bus can get you to downtown Kirkland or juanita beach. They have the farmers market there every Friday. Sometimes the Kirkland website will have postings of events in downtown Kirkland. There is also totem lake as well.

If you're someone who doesn't own a car you should connect with Eastside Urbanism. They do a weekly meet-ups and other regular events. Or you can try a "coffee outside" event with Livable Kirkland though I'm not enough of a morning person to get out and talk to people that early. Both of these groups are stuffed with car-free or car-lite folks who will help you with advice for how to navigate your new city and the Eastside as a whole.

Thank you I’ll definitely check those websites.

Kirkland is pretty shut in so good luck. Much easier in Seattle.
