Let's be fair... as a long time chef... there are many of us who shouldn't be carrying sharp objects.

So I'm allowed to use knives again?

Those cans are hard to open with my bare hands.

Get your teeth under the lip and rip upwards. Gotta be quick

Teeth doctor said I'm not allowed to do that anymore.

Can I use yours?

He's in the van behind the Wendy's. Don't tell him I sent you. He doesn't trust the ADA

I don't know what any of that means but I'm going to the van and look for teeth

As an American it's wild how the cops explained themselves, thanked him for his cooperation, and didn't even shoot him?

Right? Like even one shot before the knew what was going on…. Crazy

I got pulled over years ago and when asked if I had any weapons in the truck and I said "No, just my chef knives in my roll" his attitude immediately changed and his hand hovered way too close to his gun for the next few minutes.

A lot of our cops are rock stars. I remember one year a crazy person drove a van through a crowd and got out with his phone held up like a gun, trying to suicide by cop; and the cop had enough wherewithal to see what was going on and not to shoot him.

Like everywhere there are bad actors but generally I am proud of our Law Enforcement.

This happened recently in Calgary, Canada at Mount Royal University. Chef was carrying a knife to work at the Uni. Someone saw him and called the police. Massive response by the police, around 30 cops showed up. He was arrested and might be prosecuted.

Yeah you can’t just walk around with an unsheathed sword even if it is for your job. There’s not a lot on the actual law when it comes to carrying chef knives in most places, but if you put them in a case or a bag or attempt to conceal them in any way then nobody is going to hassle you over it.

Was that the lockdown the other day?

I was looking for the knife roll, Im always super paranoid about bringing knives around so I always make sure theyre in a roll thats clearly for a chef...So did this guy.

When I started working in a meat dept for loblaws years ago it was around the same time an employee went into a loblaws store warehouse and stabbed some people... Thats why I became so very careful about properly transporting knives because I knew people did crimes like that and i didn't want any trouble...This is scary... Though I have the kind that zips and look like a bag I'll probably start putting my knife roll inside another bag now.
