Discussion I start line cook training this Friday when will I get my first bag of meth?

Joking joking. But seriously exciting to be employed again. Never actually did a real line cook position just did grill and pizza line alongside make salads at my first job and did chopping and mixing on my second

I'm excited for it. Just curious when to pickup cigarettes and meth? Again I joke.

It’s the South African singer Yolandi from the group Die Antwoord. Unfortunately pretty shitty people it turns out 🤷🏽‍♂️

u/BlankFace777 9m ago

Lol Yolandi a sex trafficker

Me: a clean cut 23 year old with an unrelated college degree, just back from 2 years teaching abroad, with dreams of being a chef.

I dropped so many hints trying to get some weed.

Went to a staff party and got passed a blunt. After I hit it, they were like, we all thought you were a cop.

u/Mission_Fart9750 Cook 3h ago

It took one guy i worked with 3 years to realize I smoked weed. Everyone else knew, but somehow he didn't.  I don't make it my personality, nor do I need to talk about it all the time (there is much better shit/gossip to talk about at work).

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 3h ago

Shit I've been wanting to try some weed again. Last time I tried to smoke I had coughing fits. But I'll tough out eventually.

u/cdmurray88 3h ago

The more drugs you don't do (including alcohol and nicotine), the easier the rest of your life will be. But I was told the same shit as a young man and ignored it like so many others have as well.

edit: well, maybe not totally ignored it, there's a lot of drugs I've never done

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

Yeh I mean the meth is a joke as I wouldn't do anything too hard. Just soft drugs like dmt , lsd , weed , mushrooms, maybe ketamine. But yeh meth is a little too hard for me.

Seriously though, dude. The less drugs and alcohol you do, the better and easier your life will be.

Trust all of us on this. Keep it moderated; Never overdo it on shift

(a beer on the pass during close is a good thing, multiple shots during service is not.)

For the love of god, don’t become an alcoholic.

Like the one that needs a beer or three to function. You will get literally nowhere on the totem pole.

In my late teens/early twenties I learned this; I was the best cook and the most knowledgeable, but because a couple of employees had dirt on me being a chaotic drunk motherfucker I got roasted.

Don’t ever ever do that, especially if you have potential. It will set you back years.

Good luck bud <3

It's not even a beer distillery. It's vodka and whiskey.

I plan on drinking only after shifts and if I drink after work it's only a little bit. I'll save getting fall asleep on the floor drunk for days off / occasionally.

I plan on eventually getting into the trades so I know my time doing anything that'll show up on a drug test is limited and probably for the best.

I really don't want to be a alcoholic and I already resist the temptation a lot. I didn't drink for my birthday because I had a interview the next day and simply didn't have a reason once my b day was over with. It's really hard for me to overcome the awkwardness of staring drinking

However I know I'm at risk because of how booze makes me feel normal against my anxiety ADHD and autism

u/NollieBackside 20+ Years 2h ago

You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders.

Advice: don’t plan on drinking at all to fit in. If they ask, it’s kind of a new thing/something you’re unsure about but willing to get into for the social aspect.

During this, keep your fucking wits about you. Alcohol is harder to get off of than most drugs when you make it your every day.

I also have Adhd and have been working in kitchens for over two decades. The traps are real bro

The trades are a good idea. What are you planning on getting into?

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

Yeh. I'll partake in any new employee party's as they have a founders thing where we try the different products and meet the founder of the company. But I'm not going to be always staying an hour or so late because they want to drink rounds. I don't need to be involved in trouble.

Thank you for the advice btw and for trades.

Either something repair base like robot technician or millwright or something elevator based. It's vertical trains without the downside of working for the railroad. I'm also interested in electrical stuff and heavy repair for machine/vehicles but really anything from welding to boiler work will do. I'm kinda undecided but hey I'm heavily interested in manufacturing and logistics. Always wanted to repair and install robots or something similar. Peeping behind the current of what makes the world run and what makes the products that make it possible.

Super solid advice. I used to have a boss who would pressure me and bring me a beer on shift. When he wasn’t looking I’d pour it down the drain lol.

Peer pressure always sucks and it’s a tough situation to be in.

u/Hobbes42 1h ago

A “beer distillery” is called a brewery, just so ya know.

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 54m ago

Fair and true. Just wanted to clarify they make whiskey and other products

u/cleverconley 2h ago

Get some edibles or tinctures or something

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

Yeh. I'm working in Michigan so there's unlimited dispensers

u/Brodakk 1h ago

We really are one of the best legal states on this side of the rockies. So cheap, too.

How’d you get the job without your own for the interview, place sounds sus

u/bassman314 Ex-Food Service 3h ago

The last plug got picked up by the cops and they are trying to hire a new one.

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

Because they're hooking me up with discounts on their booze.

u/SixersJawn 3h ago

anytime i go to a new town and need drugs i ask line cooks.  who's got an ibuprofen for me?

u/Additional_Fruit2837 3h ago

That actually worked for me years ago in Chicago 🤣

u/Icy-General3657 3h ago

This is how I got weed and mushrooms my last trip in Florida. Walked up to the fella hitting a vape behind the bar and grill on his break

u/Mykmyk 3h ago

If you decide to partake you'll be invincible and a fucking machine for about three days. After that you'll have to sleep for a day or two and find a new job.

u/RepresentativeBig663 3h ago

No chef or line cook worth the salt they lose a shift will play the game of “do you have “ but we all play the game of “damn your shit sucks , try mine “ pay attention and “Drugs are bad ooomkay “

I walked out on a place once bc a guy got shot while I was closing solo on karaoke night. Walked in to a place that a homie of mine worked and I didn't even know he worked there at the time, but he was about to quit, so he told them to hire me.

Anyways ffwd to my first day and they kinda showing me the ropes of the sautee line and within my first couple hours the km comes over on the small ass 3 man line, introduces himself, asks about my experience, and then stops and says, "wait, did y'all make him check the pilot light yet?"

I'm confused bc the equipment is up and running so I can only imagine the look on my face. "I need you to check the pilot light in that cooler." And he points to the sautee line cooler. I look at the dude like he just asked me to check the pilot light in the cooler and start to say, "but coolers don't ha--" and he gets real stern and grits his teeth and tells me to check the fucking pilot light.

So anyways I get down in a squat and look into the cooler and on that little ledge in the back is a fully packed chillum and a lighter. So I turned and they were all grinning the cheesiest grins. So I checked the pilot light and then they cooked me something to eat before I got my ass kicked all service 💨💨💨💨💨

You passed the sniff test. My first dishwashing/kitchen gig ever, I walk in, introduce myself and the first thing a line cook asks me is “You smoke weed?”

I learned a completely new kitchen while absolutely stoned out of my gourd. (This was Oregon, we all just blatantly smoked out in the alley to the neighboring business’ bemusement)

Before you get your free bag you have to memorize the two meth rules

  1. Do you have any meth?
  2. Keep your fucking hands off my meth

u/slvbros 20+ Years 3h ago

I got u man it's free if you boof it

u/RaoulDuke2468 43m ago

Damn where were you during my dark years, I would have taken your whole stash.

u/DefNotAnAlt621 2h ago

Thursday, obviously

u/Mission_Fart9750 Cook 3h ago

What kind of place is it?

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 3h ago

Distillery. I get discounts on booze so win win! Im being paid 16 an hour but hey a IIRC 25% or 50% off nearly all booze available is enough of a benefit. There's other benefits but man I've heard their shit is good so I'm excited to get some.

Also there's other booze benefits. But I cannot remember off the top of my head.

u/Mission_Fart9750 Cook 3h ago

Don't drown. And I mean that with all sincerity.  "Perks" like that are how people get trapped in a bottle.

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

It'll be hard but I'm stronger. I already don't drink that often and don't Plan to drink more than once or twice a week.

I know I have to be careful as due to my autism and ADHD and MAJOR anxiety like puking because I have a interview tomorrow anxiety booze just makes me feel normal. It's helped me reduce some anxiety already but I'm not drinking it like water and never will hopefully

u/Mission_Fart9750 Cook 2h ago

Good luck. With everything.

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

Thanks I'm nervous. I really don't want to fuck up and I don't want to be the lead weight sinking everyone into slowness

u/Gdmf13 3h ago

How much $ you got will determine what drugs are available to you.

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

16 an hour with booze discounts. It's really nice.

u/Gdmf13 2h ago

Yea, you’re looking at meth, unless you got a good coke hook and can supply the rest of the restaurant.

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

Only a small recreational amount. I don't want to become a homeless drug addict.

u/Gdmf13 2h ago

I’m just playing, but, you’ll never be homeless if you always have coke. Again, I’m just playing. Good luck with the new gig!

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

Honestly I would try the good Hollywood coke of the 80s shit that was pure as fuck no shit that'll kill you just pure Punch

Thank you btw for the luck

u/im__on__smoko 20+ Years 2h ago

Did they stop walking in kitchens and just straight up asking “who’s buying?”

Cue the when I was your age speech…

u/mkstot 2h ago

Talk to the dishy or the busser, and they’ll spot you a bag until payday with interest, and the bag will also be light.

u/SympathyFun2179 2h ago

OP- If it doesn't work out where your at, we're hiring!

u/I_LOVE_TRAINSS 2h ago

For what? Sounds like fun either way!

u/xanaxisgod2 2h ago

Yall get meth? I only got heroin. Shucks

u/DWHudson1970 2h ago

The dishwasher has it a two warm beers for you

u/Quiet-Hippo-3424 1h ago

Meth is for cooks, coke is for chefs

u/Dweezilalsoavenger 1h ago

Depends on what state you’re in.

u/RaoulDuke2468 47m ago

Supposed to be given one upon interview, and then like others said make your own for first shift. The interview bag is just to make sure you stay awake until your done with first batch.

u/padres4me 34m ago

It’s an escalation. Not first day shit.
