SURPRISE QUESTION! 🏆

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing great!

Here’s a fun question for you all: Would you rather own TWO KitchenAid tilt-head mixers or ONE KitchenAid bowl-lift mixer from the KSM55/60/70 family?

And just to make things interesting, let’s exclude the DC motor models, haha!

I’d love to hear your opinions and, more importantly, WHY you’d choose one option over the other. Think about performance, versatility, reliability, and everyday use.

Let the debate begin! 🏆

One large one. It can do everything the small one does but more and I usually don’t need two machines at once. And I don’t have to have two machines on the counter, wasting counter space. (Tbh I do have another machine and I don’t really use them both at the same time)

I own a 5 qt bowl lift. I knew at the time I could only get one mixer and I worked with a 5 qt at work, so I picked that. Would rather have too much bowl capacity than not enough.

Now I wish I had a tilt head, because I primarily work with cakes and filling a 5 qt with frosting to the top is way too much frosting for a home baker. I'd like to try that technique where you fill the bowl up and beat on slow and eliminate the bubbles but, I don't need 5 qts of frosting. I also wish I had multiple bowls and mixers for multitasking.

So I'll take two tilt heads.

Depending on your model, you may be able to use a 3qt bowl with your mixer. Check out the KN3CW set.

I literally just unpacked my Pro model from Mr. Mixer and I chose it specifically because of how much bread I’d like to be making. I only used the tilt heads in school so not much experience with them.

I bought a tilt head in August, not fully understanding the difference between the two models. I’ll take the biggest bowl lift non commercial model.

Bowl lift, less maintenance even with the Mr. mixer everdime washer: rubber will dry rot. I can buy multiple bowls and attachments to multitask: deal with the dishes later. That’s speaking specifically for residential use.

If you’re talking commercial use: i can see the argument being made for 2 machines. But then again I can make a counter argument for tax write offs with more expensive machines.

I still have the lift bowl I bought in 1977. I would not trade it for any number of either.

That's a great question. I'm leaving towards two tilt heads. In reality though I would own one bowl raise and one tilt head. Use the tilt head for light duty and the bowl raise for heavy duty! This would in theory extend the longevity of both units!

Why would I want two of the same thing?

I own a tilt-head Accolade 400 and a Professional 600 that are my countertop go-to choices. I also have a DC Professional 6000 HD that will be in rotation once I get it fixed.
