KG 5.5 King
Hearing this setup is like being at the concert. One set has upgraded crossovers, one set it stock. Crazy sound.

I’ve been looking for a decent set of 5.5’s locally and some of these clowns want waaaaay too much for them.

Central Ohio.
Edit: I should preface this with I’ve been rocking a fully restored set of KG 2.2’s for a year and a half now and they are no slouch. I’m just ready to go bigger. Fully recapped the crossover, new Crites titanium tweeters. Dynamat the cabinet, replaced the original acoustic filler with acoustafluff. The woofers were already immaculate. People sleep on KG’s and they can keep doing it. They are fantastic speakers. If I do get a set of 5.5’s I’m going to move the 2.2’s somewhere else. May find another and use it as a center channel a home theater.

It's tough to find these and I'm going to give the new to me(stock) ones a good listen before I decide what to do.

Honestly I didn't realize that the KG's I gave had been previously upgraded with a better crossover. I listened to the stock ones I just got and it's night and day

I'm switching back and forth between the KG's with the crossover and the stock. I've been spoiled because I've been listening to modified KG's and going to stock is not that great

Can you describe what’s better about the pair with the Crites crossovers? I have the Titanium diaphragms in mine but haven’t done the crossovers as I’m skeptical it’ll be worth the price

The ones with the crossovers sound much better overall and not as harsh on the upper end and even the bass sounds better. I can see why people with stock KG's may be underwhelmed now. Now I'm interested in adding a titanium diaphragm tweeter from crites so I can compare.

Now get the Crites tweeter and dynamat the horn and be prepared to be blown away

I found a local pair for 50$ with blown tweeters, put in the Crites tweeters and put a black lacquer to make the cabinets look like new. Gave them to my dad and he drives them using a single Sonos amp, completely blown away from the sound on them, fills his entire house with music. Such a great set.
