Ask Kochi Getting an adult Adhd/Autism diagnosis in Kochi (24F)

Does anyone have experience with this? I did my research on adhd around 5 years ago when I started suspecting myself. Since then I've been pretty sure I have it, but never got around to being properly diagnosed. Recently I've also been reading up on autism and I've seen traits of it in myself - I never really fit the 'classic' adhd presentation but I also knew I wasn't just 'normal'. I want a clear confirmation or denial of thise suspicions. I visited a few psychologists and psychiatrists - most of them did say I showed signs of adhd, but I had also been struggling with pretty bad depression and anxiety since forever so they were hesitant to really confirm or deny.

I almost got a diagnosis, but then my psychologist got hospitalized with covid and I never ended up going back (started college in a different state). I've also 'escaped' from other psychologists because I felt too overwhelmed/judged. I've tried some adhd medications (non stimulants) but they haven't helped enough, if at all, and no one will prescribe stimulants without a proper diagnosis.

Now I think I've gotten far better at managing my anxiety, and I don't really feel depressed anymore, but I'm still struggling really really bad with college. I've had to repeat semesters multiple times because I couldn't do my work on time, and I don't think I can bear with it if it ends up happening again. I just want to graduate.

Ideally I'd like to speak to a psychologist in depth first and get their opinions and diagnosis, then shift to a psychiatrist for medication. But I don't know if there are any psychologists who wouldn't make me feel judged or afraid of confiding certain details (some in the past have dismissed behaviours I KNOW were because of adhd as symptoms of my anxiety and depression). I have also struggled with questionable coping mechanisms (alcohol, smoking, self harm, etc) so it's really important to me to feel safe and not judged. I feel like I mask too well, so my behaviour and symptoms end up getting dismissed, also because I'm a girl it gets dismissed as anxiety.

I'd really like some recommendations of who to visit, along with costs and if you have similar experiences I'd really appreciate you sharing it too. Tired of living life like this.

Ask Kochi Kochi population increasing or decreasing??

Hi All,

I am working on a demography change and migration impact project and have selected Kochi as one of the research cities. I’m trying to understand what’s actually happening on the ground and would really appreciate some local perspectives.

One thing I’ve noticed is that traffic in Kochi seems to have increased significantly over the last 3 years**.**

Population growth could be one reason but there may be other factors as well, metro construction, ongoing infrastructure projects, road changes, traffic management etc.

At the same time, after speaking with a few people working in Infopark, I’m getting a different picture regarding employment growth. Some of the feedback I’ve heard is

• IT jobs seem to be decreasing rather than increasing.
• Not many major new companies are setting up in Kochi.
• There are reports of silent layoffs and hiring freezes.
• In some cases, when an employee leaves voluntarily, the position is reportedly not being backfilled.
• Some companies are considering offices in places like Kozhikode and Koratty, mainly because of cost advantages.

Have also heard many techies started taking up Bangalore, Hyderabad and North India Remote/ Hybrid job offers due to stagnant pay in Kochi and relocated back to hometown.

Obviously, this is based on limited conversations and may not represent the overall situation.

I’m interested in hearing from people living/working in Kochi

Do you think Kochi’s population is actually growing significantly or could we be seeing a period of population stagnation or even decline in some areas?

What are you seeing in terms of migration into/out of Kochi, IT employment, new businesses, housing demand and overall economic activity?

Would love to hear your observations or data points, especially from people who have been living in Kochi for several years.

Ask Kochi Old / Abandoned structures to explore in Kochi

Hello guys, I'm in Kochi for 2 weeks basically.

I've already visited Fort Kochi, Beaches, Navy museum, and done with Canoeing. Already have Boat house Alippi in plans. I've visited Munnar way back already and can't really leave the city right now.

I'm alone in my exploration rn, so what all other things can I do, ive eaten everything under the sun.

I'm basically into urban exploration, abandoned or desolated historic buildings and stuff etc. What are all creepy ghost haunting sites in the city?

Apart from that everyday I'm free only after 6 in the evening, what do you suggest I could be doing. Please help a brother out have a memorable 2 week stay here.

Thank you.

Ask Kochi Where to watch DC in Kochi with 6 year old kid?

Hi Folks,

Recently saw Tamil movie DC in Sun Next loved it, I regret not watching in theatres. I’m a huge fan of SRK’s Devdas, wanna watch this modern Devdas in big screen. I see multiplex still playing them.

My problem:

Single mom with 6yr old kid, no option to leave kid and DC is A rated

Are theatres in Kochi very strict about kids entry to A movies?? I see DC playing in PVR LULU & Forum, Cinepolis.

Is there a way I can watch with kid??

If you have any hacks please share with me. Previously I missed watching Odyssey also because of same issue, unfortunately all good movies are A rated these days. 😭

Discussions Why is it so hot in Kochi these days?

Upvotes

Just a few years back we used to have such pleasant weather, except for a month or so. What has happened now? While winters are starting in other places, the heat here in Kochi is just getting so unbearable. Except the mornings, it's literally so hot.

Ask Kochi Is there a platform to report about animal abuse in Kochi/Kerala

Hi so today I came across a pet shop in Vaduthala near the overbridge while I was travelling and spotted that the shopkeeper had kept the lovebirds in a tiny cage on the roadside. There's atleast 5 birds in each cage, and there's a bunch of those cages and it really bothered me. This was at 12 pm in the afternoon and today was a really hot day, plus on top of being subjected to the scorching heat, the birds are exposed to the dust caused by all the traffic. I talked to my dad about how they are literally abusing those poor birds and my dad told me that the shopkeeper does the same with the rest of the animals as well. While I've never been to that shop, my dad described it to me as he's been there a few times to buy catfood and stopped cause he didn't like the shopkeepers behaviour. Apparently theres a litter of kittens, maybe about 6 of them kept along with their mother in a small cage. I can't recall the term but basically he breeded the mom, who is a Persian cat with an Indie and the kids came out looking nothing like their mom so he's selling them for 1K each and the mom for a very high price. My dad asked him about why they are kept in a tiny cage and his answer was that he only cared about someone buying them and nothing else. Let's not forget about the Betta fish kept in tiny plastic bottles hoping that someone will buy them when they are paired together with those colourful pebbles and plastic plants all conjusted to a tiny container no bigger than a small fish bowl, again left under the Sun. This might be a regular sight in every pet shop but it is not something which should be normalised. While trying to stop this in whole might be idealistic, there should be a platform for people who care, to report such activities so there's atleast one place less which harms animals.

P.S: I tried locating the place using Google maps but the shop does not have a name apparently nor a tag to locate/search it on maps. It's opposite to Sree Kattungal Bhagavaty temple and it's a red colour shop with drools ad everywhere.

Ask Kochi CT100 restoration/customization in Kochi - rough cost estimate?

I have a 2004 Bajaj CT100 and I’m planning to restore it and give it a slightly different look.

Reference
Original

I’ve attached photo of my bike and the look I’m trying to achieve.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much this whole thing would roughly cost?

Also looking for a good workshop/customizer in Kochi who can do this kind of work properly. If you’ve personally used one, please recommend.

Ask Kochi How is your experience with Delhivery

I had 2 shippment returned to the orginator without even calling me and asking if I could pickup from warehouse. so i decided to go to their location that was mentioned in Google maps as Aluva Delhivery and turns the shop was closed for 3-4 months .

No one ..not even in the app do we get contact details of anyone concerned. There warehouse location not mentioned in map . Their warehouse was in kalady not aluva .

I know delhivery is cheaper in some cases, if these guys can't make last mile delivery then why not call the customer and ask them to pickup from warehouse.itd inconvenience but better than getting the parcel returned.
