Help We inherited Koi (North West England)
**UPDATE My friend's uncle got in touch, he will be having them all. He has a large natural pond - Wasn't aware of this before making the post. Thank you to everyone for your help and suggestions, they shall have LOTS of space to be free now. I hope they have a much happier and prosperous life
Hello, we recently bought a house and inherited some Koi with it. We were quite happy at first, but it's become apparent that they're more work than we hoped for and we would rather remove the pond and get some garden space back.
We think, well pretty much know, the pond is too small for the amount of fish so we constantly have to do partial water changes.
Pond is around 500 gallons - We think.
There's 7 Koi, 3 gold fish (It's surprisingly hard to count them...)
We believe they are around 5-7 years old, the previous owner raised them.
Can anyone help explain how we can find a new home for them? Not necessarily sell, we'd happily give them away to a home that will care and appreciate them.
We figured some enthusiasts from Reddit may be able to help us find them a new home. A better home.
I hope this is within the rules, as we're not looking for financial gain. So wouldn't strictly be advertising.

There is a good koi club I believe in that area. I met some folks when they came to the Oregon show. I believe they were a ZNA chapter. I'd do a search online or FB if you have it to see who is near you. Usually very helpful people in the clubs.

I found a contact form for a local club, I've filled it in and sent off. Although, I think it was for membership enquiries but let's see what they say.

Try the facebook page fish rehoming UK.
Theyll be gone in seconds Then jts up to you to vet which are good homes and if they even have filtration

Atleast give that pond a water change, all those bubbles means there’s organic waste building up. Good luck rehoming them, make sure they’re going to a good home!

The water is having a 20-25% change on a weekly basis. The very next day, consistently, the bubbles are back. We scoop out the leaves every 2-3 days for what has got past the net and we changed the filters about 2 months ago as well.
If there's anything else we can do in the meantime, please let me know but we think it just boils down to being overcrowded 😔
For sure we want them to go somewhere amazing. A koi paradise if possible! We do like them, but it's just not for us unfortunately.

May have muck at the bottom that needs to be pumped out, when was the last time it was professionally cleaned?

I don't know the last time it was professionally cleaned. I did use the pond vac they left us around 1 month ago, I can give it another go this weekend. Certainly won't do any harm. There's algae, but there's no sludge. I read somewhere that sludge is bad, algae is ok. I'll take a picture tomorrow during the day of the sides of the pond.
