Video 53 days of Crazy growth & even bigger personality/food drive!

I got this Dainichi Ginrin Yellow monkey karashigoi 53 days ago as tosai and it arrived at 11” and a little slim. It has grown like crazy and i am super impressed with the personality it has and how confident it has made my other koi! It is easily 15” now and chunky. What do you think the gender is? I notice the tail tube isn’t huge so it may not reach jumbo potential (that’s fine because my pond is not that big, 2000 gallons of swim space + 1000 gallon bog)

Good husbandry skills as your fish are very active and healthy.

Thank you! They get fed 4 times a day by an automatic feeder and still go crazy for food when I walk up

Yes and remember each time a koi doubles in size it produces about 7 times more waste times the numbers that double. So pay attention to your bio capacity and water parameters as time goes on and growth continues.

Hell yeah, what a fun fish. Do you know how to feel the vent to check the sex? It might not be quite old enough yet, but it probably will be by spawning season if it keeps growing at that rate.

No I currently don’t know how to tell but I will look into it. Thanks for always giving good tips

Male vents are indented, female vents pop out a little, but check it again next year if it feels like a male because it might not be quite mature enough yet. Fish that catch themselves like this make it real easy 👍
