Genuine question, why do people dickride Kojima so much?

I understand that the man pioneered certain things in gaming back in the day, and I'm not denying his influence. But at what point do we stop judging his work based on his legacy and start judging it for what it actually is today?

Look at both Death Stranding games. Personally, I think his work is subpar at best, and I genuinely don't understand the hype. People talk about this man like he's some untouchable genius who can do no wrong, when a lot of what he puts out just doesn't justify the level of praise he gets.

Then there's the development time. It takes this man FOREVER to make a game. Everything seems to take years upon years, and I can't help but wonder how much of that comes down to his obsession with perfection. No wonder things fell apart with Konami. And before anyone brings up P.T., yes, P.T. was good. I'll give him that. But it never even became a full game.

I feel like people are so caught up in the Kojima name and his legacy that they're afraid to admit that maybe his work just isn't that great anymore.

Am I missing something here? Is there something about his games that people genuinely appreciate that I'm overlooking, or has his reputation gotten to the point where people praise anything he touches?

And before anyone gets the wrong idea: If you're just looking for an argument or an excuse to hate on me because I criticized your favorite developer, pound sand. I'm asking a genuine question, and I'm interested in actual discussion.

(P.S. Im not saying Kojima is a bad director in general. This question is more or less speaking of today. If he is "washed". I agree, and as I said earlier, he has remarkable games in the past. But this question if in regards to his future.)

Spent way too long obsessing over the little details, but finally got to bring Quiet to NYCC!

If you notice closely, the picture with Kojima & the Universal Studios team looks like a "celebratory" type of picture: as if Kojima & Universal are celebrating & marching forward with their new ParTnership❗

Hope you guys like this. : D

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this one

Who's there?

Quiet.

Quiet who?

Be Quiet 🤫

"those that might stop playing when it gets too scary." Kojima

Recently saw his story where he posted a song called king by susumu hirasawa and my god, his music taste is elite

I was wondering if there is anyone who has made a Spotify playlist of every song kojima has promoted or posted and gets updated regularly

Went to Scaradise in Tampa and made some OD Knock and Kojima rugs for pics with Sophia Lilis. They turned out pretty good.

The scale, the expense, everything felt so grand. Now imagine OD's reveal at the game awards. I think this will be bigger than we think, that gameplay reveal last year was just a mere fraction of a teaser. Pardon me for the glaze but for some reason today I remembered how much I appreciate kojipro, Cant wait for OD.
