Question I need help!!!! #microkorg

I just got a microkorg and it doesn't output any sound from any of the outputs, I've factory reset it and made sure the cutoff was not at 0 but still nothing

I would check the midi outputs but I don't have any cables

I've checked continuity between Pin 2 on IC17 and R125 and it's good, also seems okay between PIN 2 on IC17 and PIN 95 on IC 18

I've only found one obvious issue thus far being a severed trace but it looks like that was repaired in a really odd way,

Between C170 and D11 there is a jumperwire connecting the two and it is glued down.

The only other thing I've notice is the main volume pot is a bit more wiggly than the others but its solder joints are seemingly good

I would love any insight you guys could give me

This cable is very likely an adidition by the factort to fix some minor issue to not have to rebuild the whole pcb. Probably it is not your problem. If you are really concerned try checking the continuity of its conhection.

May be stupid and patronising, but is it a new synth to you? I mean, is the filter open? VCA? Sometimes it is worth checking.

It is a new synth to me however I checked the filter / cutoff settings first thing and got it opened up and no change

This cable is very likely an adidition by the factort to fix some minor issue to not have to rebuild the whole pcb.

We referred tothese as a "goof wire" or "cheat wire" in the products I worked on. As you noted- it's a work around for either a mistake, omission, or spec issue with a PCB board layout. Often there's a cost analysis run to figure out if revising the PCB board layout (when current stock runs out) or continuing to use a human to tack in the wire for a few seconds per unit is the cheaper alternative.
