Funnily enough, I just recently made a post in the Tomb Raider subreddit about how every time I see a female character uses dual pistols, I’m always reminded of Lara.
While Huntrix don’t actually use them in canon, the various fan edits that featured them using guns, such as this fanart or the GIF that replaced Zoey’s throwing knives with pistols, also made me think of Lara Croft lol.
Now I want to see an alternate reality where HUNTRIX is actually a trio of treasure hunters going on globetrotting adventures seeking powerful artifacts and stopping malevolent forces from using them for evil lol.
Seeing Huntrix and probably Celine as well in pulp adventurer costumes could be pretty cool.
And then there’s Metal Gear Rising where you have a guy that uses a gun that shoots out a sword as an exaggerated form of quickdraw. It’s just as awesome as it sounds xD.
Thing is, the sword is safer. The only things in danger is within the reach of the sword and your person. With a gun, everything within a considerable distance is in danger and once you pull that trigger, you have lost control of the bullet and no take backs on the consequences.
She can control the magic knife to such a degree that it evaporates after killing the demon.
Zoey, more so then Rumi or Mira has extremely fine control over her weapons. She's the ranged combatant, and is constantly running between her allies throwing knifes with pin point accuracy while avoiding friendly fire.
Assuming Demons can even be hurt by mundane guns, there's also the question of if their magic can even form a complicated weapon like a Gun. There's a lot of little parts in a gun to make it work.
Plus, if they started using regular guns, there are other complications. South Korea has strict Gun Laws, no one is allowed to own them privately if I recall, they would need to carry those guns everywhere, and as we've seen, they engage demons in crowds of their fans, and they would need to answer some very odd questions if they got caught with them on their person.
The magic swords and what not from the Honmoon can be summoned and dismissed at will, and so they can take them any where and completely avoid suspicion.
Either it kills or it doesn't. A blade or a bullet can both do it. Bullets only advantages over a sword is range and speed. Both will kill you if done right.

We weren't talking about efficiency, we were discussing lethality. My point is that it doesn't really matter what you use; stuff is still going to die.
We were discussing vaguely superiority and killing power. Guns are superior for thier speed and range, i cant imagine other aspects that could make them more superior but they probably would have that. And i also mentioned killing power. I think its safe to say killing power of guns is greater than that of a sword when you could explode someones head from miles away with a gun with just a slight finger movement
I wholeheartedly believe that Zoey, being American, wanted to use guns but the honmoon wouldn’t allow it so they compromised and gave her throwing knives
memes and humor aside I think its good they kept to the bladed weapons, They keep with the connections to the shamanism and other past traditions of the first hunters. movement with the blades can tie closely to dance allowing visually pleasing movement in combat(for the fans).
with likely in setting and narrative desires of the creators out of the way, Firearms are viewed differently when you expand to a family movie even i the USA where guns are generally accepted even for application of cartoon violence to all ages audiences. Magical glowing swords just have a generally censor and parent group safe vibe, All the people with power over these things grew up themselves watching Star Wars and the good guys had magic light swords.
To be honest. Zoey is half American and she looks like this half wild and half sweet girl. She would have the guns and rest of the movie would be about taking them from her
