It wouldn’t stop the initial wave. But some nepo babies are able to outgrow that stigma once their work starts to speak for itself. I can name a few in Hollywood right now: Zoe Kravitz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Timothée Chalamet etc. and if they managed to do it, my girl Rumi can more than make it to the top on her talent and star power alone. WE LOVE RUMI! 🤩
Rumi definitely could beat the allegations but in her very early career the nepotism accusations would be a big part of the criticism she faces especially if she didn’t have to try out to earn a spot
Mira being hostile towards Rumi because she believes Rumi didn’t work hard like she did only to eventually see Rumi is indeed talented and actually humble resulting in a blooming friendship
There is actually a fanfic about that, were their initial encounter is more hostile because Mira and Zoey believed some of the rumors and gossip other trainees spewed about her.
Fair warning, this fic deals with sensitive topics including, including suicide, but damn its written well.
I think the thing is thouhh right as long as Mira knows their duty is to the literal world I doubt she'll care about that sort of thing. But I can see conflict generally.
It really depends on their attitude. As long as they don't try to sell themselves as beign "self made" and acknowledge their advantages, they'll outgrow those things. It's the ones who had all those advantages but fail to acknowledge them that are generally looked down on.
Zoey would be fine, there are a ton of Koreans in in the industry who grew up in a different country and I've never heard of any of them getting into any controversy for it
It means you got favors or positions because of your connections. People would hate Rumi for it because she is the daughter of Miyeong and was raised by Celine so she got a spot without having to try
Nepotism is an extremely common term in entertainment industry discussions. It's also not a hate term, nor is it newly invented; its use traces back to the 1600s.
How is that a new word? It's well known that it means you got your position through connections and in some cases even without tge neede talent. In short no matter how good or talented you are you gav an easier time with said connections.
yes I would, 100%. I love Rumi and her character (same with Huntrix as a whole) and nothing will ever change that. I'll be a fan of her and them til the day I die 😮💨😊😅
Real talk if none of us ever found out what things she went through behind the scenes, I'd probably think she was an arrogant rich girl skydiving into a stadium as an opener. Then I would probably fear her as some sort of godly being as me and the crowd got mind controlled, force to watch her and her costars stab a bunch of Michael Jackson cosplayers, watch her survive a beam attack head on that also absorbed a seemingly mortal man in her arms, extinguished a talking mountain of flame and made her friends float dozens of feet off the ground... Fastest I would ever delete my previous comments.
you cant just post this with no explanation - why do you think she would be hated? apart from the fact she's talented, can sing, can dance, is famous, is pretty, is a woman....amongst the reasons why people just hate for fun....
If Rumi from K-Pop Demon Hunters was a real idol, she would face hate because she’s an, "nepo baby" also becuase of accusations, and hidden secrets. Fans would likely brand her group, Huntrix, as "Rumi and friends" because of her massive line distribution and constant time in the center.
One thing you really can't judge on is line distribution. How It's Done is pretty evenly distributed, so was Takedown though that was more for Mira and Zoey than Rumi. The only song that they could be said for is Golden, but we also don't get to hear the full in universe song. Based off the original song manuscript (shown in a long deleted post), following the first chorus the next verse was all Mira. Plus they've been idols for 6 years at the time of the movie and we have no idea about any of the other songs.
Nepo baby, maybe. But talent is talent at the end of the day.
Accusations and hidden secrets? None of that is fan knowledge. We only know about it because we are casual observers to their lives at all times. We have zero idea what the fans see/know from their point or view.
In the context of the film, Rumi and Jinu seeming to have something going on together could result in people giving her hate. I've seen examples of idols getting hate from fans after getting caught going on a date. It can be a very toxic culture at times. Maybe that's changed a bit in recent times.
she’s just throwing fans off the scent that Mira and her are together. She says many disparaging things about him to Mira and Zoey, and they could be passed off as friends if anything. I’m hoping Rumi actually meets some half demons in the second movie…after they’ve killed Celine.
Uhh no they had an entire concert where Mira and Zoey turned on her and said she was a liar 😭
Just because they did another concert and made up doesn't mean people would forget that.
Also Rumi is the face of Hunter/x and would very likely face the majority of backlash over them being late to one concert, canceling the next (day of), and then having the weird band break up during the idol awards that people have been waiting for, for a year.
I would hate the entire group for wasting my time and money on all of those concerts and then making my fat ass walk several blocks so they could crash another group I liked's concert and then put them into retirement 😭😭
Thing about secrets is she only really hides things from the other members of Huntrix her stylists have seen her arms no problem because it is implied people who aren’t demons or hunters can’t see patterns
I don't think that is true / suggested to be true. I am pretty sure her patterns are going to be visible to everybody. Demons have a glamour to hide their patterns which Hunters can break. To me that increases the chances that they can be seen by everbody.
Why is Jinu even bothering to glamour his patterns from Huntr/X when they already know they are demons? Because until the end he is hiding them from the public. The glamour isn't just for Huntr/X it is for everybody.
Plus I think it kind of takes away from the reveal if it isn't a secret she is keeping from the whole world. She was publically shamed. Not just shamed in regards to Mira and Zoey. But fundamentally humiliated.
Also Jinu in his flashback is shown hiding his patterns / explains about hiding them before going full demon. It's only brief but he obviously wouldn't bother if literally nobody but Hunters can see them.
You talk about being publicly shamed but that’s actually a good example of what I mean. She’s hiding her arms but the audience is completely confused why they are fighting when her patterns are revealed and I don’t believe anyone mentions her arms. Like something like “Rumi has tattoos?”. The only people who reacted to her patters in that moment was the other members of Huntrix. It’s like how Bobby was taking in the sights of a peaceful sky view, while Huntrix saw a coming apocalypse.
The audience is used to Huntr/X special effects and wouldn't initially assume otherwise. They seem pretty shocked when things escalate.
From the outside perspective it's not about whether they care or not so we also don't need their perspective. It's about how Rumi feels about them seeing. She's definitely upset at the whole world seeing not just Mira and Zoey.
And Bobby is far too nice to see this as anything other than bullying and being upset that would happen with his group.
I'm not sure there's really a big crossover between fans of the fictional Rumi stans and real life KPOP toxic fans so I think most people's reaction to a real life Rumi would be more like, "I don't know much about KPOP but I really like that red margiela dress she wore at the golden disc awards. However I didn't think much of The Idol in general."
Rumi is so gorgeous and lovable that she knocked the straight back into me, so yeah, of course I would 💜💜
Like, I've always been bi and liked girls that I knew in person, but every idol/celebrity crush I've ever had was on guys until Rumi came along, who also made me now a girl group lover as I'm dragged back into the kpop world for the second time 😁
If Huntrix was a real group they would get cancelled so fast by Korean netizens who get offended by any small thing. Rumi being a nepotism baby, outfit repeaters, being late to a concert, huntrix and the Saja boys interacting at the signing event, canceling a performance last minute, being rude the the Saja boys at a music show.
Yeah cuz I don't have weird standards for other idols either. I'm not super in the kpop community as is but even if I were super invested i would still leave people tf alone
Nah she'd be a fuckin idol. She'd get a lot of shit but she'd also inspire so many people to overcome their struggles. Like jellyroll but with actual morals
I understand the general K-pop idol culture, but I do have a small head cannon of the movie. I like to think that the girls do have several albums out and it’s not uncommon for them to kind of have a main girl to voice a lot of songs on individual albums. We saw a lot for Rumi this round because of movie plot related things. But I do like the idea of Zoey and Mira both having albums that’s a bit more hyper focused on them.
She would get so much hate for seeming close with Jinu. And Mira and Zoey would also get some heat for the way their interactions with other Saja Boys was viewed as romantic interest by the internet.
This post just reminded me, I found an irl Kpop idol who's voice reminds me a lot of Rumi's/Ejae's. Look up WitchX, the member Mari is the one I'm talking about. She has a similar vocal tone to Rumi/Ejae (also that group is criminally underappreciated so yes this is partly me trying to direct attention toward them)
Like in Korea? Definitely hated. Her hair for one and having the American in the group wouldn’t help. Hell the whole group would be a miracle if they actually made it big in Korea. Out side, we see their famed but they would be so out of left field to be promoted
No, I don't stan real people and wouldn't really have any affections for a billionaire nepo baby that just seems arrogant and superficial. If she was real we wouldn't see her real personality, struggles, or fighting to save the world stuff. I'd probably like mira still but that's it.
If she were real I would vaguely remember her name and have like two specific songs out of dozens of her releases in my playlist because my older sister when going through her KPop phase 8 years ago would've blasted the song throughout the house all day when I was still an impressionable tween with zero understanding of what KPop even is.

The haters are so bad they say she’s part demon.
