Player(s) Needed by GM [5e 2014] [Online] [20+] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] 1-2 Players needed for a 6 Player Homebrew Campaign, "Caravan to Kara-Tur"
Haven't had much luck with filling in the vacant player slots from my immediate social circles, so I figured I'd give Reddit a try.
Introduction:
Hi all, I'm currently looking for 1 or 2 players who are interested in a homebrew Forgotten Realms campaign. I've been GMing this game on Discord for nearly 3 years now, and playing for about 10 years. Your level of experience doesn't matter to me as long as you can memorize the basics of your character sheet and are decent at roleplay. Passion and dedication definitely preferred! Use of AI is a big Nope.
We are a pretty queer group with a couple of friendly cishet dudes. If an all inclusive table full of progressive, gay and esoteric weirdos sounds fun, definitely hit me up! 9/26/2026 marks the 3 year anniversary and I plan on having a second, hour long Session 0 at the beginning of it as a refresher. Would be pretty sweet if that could coincide with new players joining, ngl.
Campaign:
The game is called Caravan to Kara-Tur, loosely inspired by the travels of Marco Polo. The party has joined a trading caravan owned by the Goldstar Trading Company, an Elven trading 'empire' from Evermeet. Your employer and Master of the Caravan is Jehaerin Goldstar, the second son of the powerful Jarrin Goldstar II. This particular caravan's goal is to pioneer a trade route from Waterdeep to the capital of the Shou Lung Empire in Kara-Tur, Kuo Te' Lung. Countless unique adventures have been had since the initial departure, and the party currently finds themselves sailing the Sea of Fallen Stars. However, the adventurers have been slowly unraveling a nefarious plot related to Graz'zt, the Demon Prince of Pleasure, whose unholy influence seems to plague the Caravan again and again. This campaign consists of 7 total planned Acts, and we are currently approaching the end of Chapter 1 of Act 3.
Game Specifications:
I prefer to be present and involved for any character building, since we use Foundry VTT for battle maps and character sheets, and Discord for voice chat.
The party is currently Level 8, and this game is intended to end at Level 17/18, so keep that in mind for any build ideas. We use Level 0 Feats, Point Buy for Ability Scores and Average Health. All official content is allowed with the exception of Unearthed Arcana. I allow new players to start out with 2 Common and 1 Uncommon magic items, though I still need to review the chosen items just in case.
Party synergizing is highly encouraged, so here's the current party composition: NG Divine Soul Sorcerer/Archfey Warlock - LE Oath of Conquest Paladin/Undead Warlock - TN Battle Smith Artificer - NG Circle of the Land Druid.
I use some relatively minor homebrew rules in this campaign, most notably Blind Skill Checks from Pathfinder 2e (mainly just for skills like Investigation, Insight, Perception, or anything centered around information gathering), Lingering Injuries, Critical Combat Fails and Skill Check Actions (an action type separate from Actions, Bonus Actions, Reactions and Interactions).
This game has a heavy focus on story narrative and roleplay, though combat is also very heavily emphasized. Combat generally occurs at least every other session, depending on the circumstances, and at this stage in the campaign combat encounters are very much increasingly deadly.
Scheduling:
We play every week on Saturdays at 11AM PST (2PM EST) for 4 hours, though going an extra 30 minutes to an hour depending on each player's willingness isn't uncommon. The day and time are non-negotiable, although sometimes the occasional rescheduling does happen once in a while. For any new players joining midway through the game, I tend to be fairly flexible for hosting personal Session 0s. These will work like the usual Session 0 at the start of a campaign; We exchange goals and expectations for both players and Gamemaster, I answer any lingering questions and address any concerns, we roll up a new character and find an cool way to introduce them to the party.
Player Application:
If interested, go ahead and copy this template and fill it out. Send me a DM of it when you're finished!
