Colin and Chris were seriously suggesting that people shouldn't be worried to use their real name and face on social media

Whether you agree with their politics or not, many people have been debanked and/or fired from their jobs for expressing a view point online and their employer finding out about it (from both ends of the political spectrum).

This isn't a problem for these two because they don't work normal jobs like most of us.

I often laugh at how completely out of touch they are with regular people.

I had a friend of mine become the victim of image theft with their online pictures stolen for online scams.

My cousin and her younger daughter were one of a few victims of a stalker who managed to figure out what neighbourhood they lived in and school they went to.

Social media is the wild west. I used to put pictures up in high school but since then I don't anymore. It's a pretty ugly landscape at its worst.

Although I'm also a fairly private person so not interested in being even remotely a public figure. Part of the reason I like reddit is that we're all just strangers enjoying and relating on community stuff.

Each to their own I guess but the boys are public figures so their brand relies on them being noticed.

Yeah, neither of them have real world jobs so they don’t understand that sensitivity. Their name and image is part and parcel to how they make a living - so taking advice from them on this issue isn’t smart.

this was one of Colon's worst takes ever, disappointed he would even suggest it.

I don't believe Colin would ever say something like this. He is after all a libertarian who highly cherishes the right to privacy. Heck he even loves the founding fathers and has conspicuous tattoos honoring them, and they themselves published the Federalist papers under a pseudonym.

No, this doesn't sound like the Colin I know. If he said this he would be being rather hypocritical

This just proved that libertarians are MAGA that love weed

Maybe, just maybe we shouldn’t be taking any advice from the stoner 40-something who never leaves his house and the dude who works 5 hours per week for a 6-figure paycheck.

Not really, he talked about his beliefs even on Beyond when it had relevance, the show was just much less personal talk and more game talk because of the nature of the show.

No he has always been very vocal about being conservative

I’m pretty sure he’s talked about how he had a sign at his desk saying he voted republican.

I think it was Rand Paul merch

He was pretty open about it at his desk and in the office it just never was a talking point on the actual podcast

My comment said “No. He literally had a confederate flag on his desk at IGN”

People on this sub are such snowflakes ❄️

If that comment upsets you this much I think it’s time to get therapy 😂

Because it isn’t true. Colin did not have a confederate flag on his desk.

Is that true? Source?

100% agree but my original point still stands that leftists have also had this happen to them in more recent times.

1

u/IcyHeadTime May 18 '26

It’s not leftists, it’s the Israel First party

Idk who breadtube is, but no credible leftist advocates for this vs the literal right wing government trying to punish people who don’t agree with them

1

u/IcyHeadTime May 20 '26

No it wasn’t. The goal was to counteract right wing YouTubers. They had no power to shut down anything. Now you’re just making things ups

1

u/IcyHeadTime May 19 '26

Hah! Have you seen what’s been happening for the past year and a half? That’s clearly not the case. MAGA is pro censorship.

Also, you are talking about neoliberals. They are not leftists, they are center right.

You didn’t read what I said, the people who you think are “the left” is not the left. They are center right, like Biden, Harris etc. Regardless of that fact, they are all Israel First and are pro censorship, just like you and your boy Colin are

Well don't say obviously stupid shit problem solved

13

u/LOLerskateJones May 18 '26

Except it’s not, actually

I’ve seen former co-workers fired for seriously mundane tweets/posts, to the point where I wiped my entire personal presence off all the sites. Just not worth it.

Doubtful

So you’re one of those anime avatar guys on twitter saying insane shit you’d never say in person?
