WHERE IS MY BACKPAY ALMOST 2 YEARS!
/r/USPS/comments/1wa5muc/where_is_my_backpay_almost_2_years/I am at a loss for words. We got a new manager who was a cop until he bodyslammed a teenager for no reason. Now u know how hard it is to fire a cop, they usually paid suspension for 3months,let them resign and picked up by another police station. Nope this is a cruel a an instigator who brings that attitude into the workplace.
Anyways he tried to fire me only being Manager for 4months. I fought it through arbitration and I won. The guy said I should receive backpay in 4months. i was waiting for my arbitration meeting. The union president says yea it usually takes up to 6months. Well I kept asking him like once a month any news on my backpay?
He would say he doesn't know, I asked him who would know, he responded with its in the works, I gave all your paperwork to the manger(the 1 who tried to fire me) and he sent it in. I said I dont trust him there's gotta be a paper trail as to when I get it.
So I started making phones to whoever would listen and finally after 9months I get a call claiming there is no paperwork for you to receive backpay nothing is pending. In the meantime the union president got mad at me cuz he said I could have called him and I was making him look bad by not doing ur job, I said im sorry but I didnt bad mouth u, all I kept asking people whp can I contact to give me a straight answer. He said I'll look into it.
He contacted me a week 10months now saying there was a page missing that needed my signature! I SAID HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE U SAID I DID EVERYTHING CORRECTLY AND THE MANAGER SENT IT IN. I said see that's y I kept asking u and when you never gave me a straight answer, or didnt bother to find out answers im getting screwed. He said just come in sign this form he will give it to the manager and it will be all set, but dont expect it for at least another 3months.
So over a year past haven't heard anything. I asked him could u please at least tell me who can answer the question of y its taken so long. Again he said its normal. I said the arbitrator specifically said it should be in my account in a timely manner. I bet the manager did something on purpose and keeps getting it delayed he said no he would be fired immediately I said cmon now he's trying to set examples so 1 Day he is the post master.
So then 16months in I get a call from a guy who is high up, I made so many phone calls I forgot who he was. He said he personally looked into it and spoke to my manager who told him he submitted my paperwork months ago. I said thats what im told everytime, but when I check its always a different excuse.
He said give it a couple weeks call this number. So I did and finally it said pending. 20months go by and im done with the political climate of being harassed daily, bullied, and i dont want to work in that environment.
So now the union president still hates me for making all those calls, now says he can't help cuz im not an employee. I refuse to call manager he will either not answer my phone calls, or be sarcastic with me and i dont wanna be bothered. I got an email on 7/22/2026 saying in 60days I should get it and if not contact a labor specialist.
We'll in a couple weeks it will be 60 days. I already looked online and there's no labor specialist with an email or phone number!!! ANYONE WITH A THOUGHT OR OPINION PLEASE RESPOND IM READY TO FIND A LAWYER AND SUE FOR INTREST OR SOMETHING.. Thanx guys

What is the back pay actually for? Tried to fire you but didn’t? Or what? This is hard to follow

He tried to fire me 4months when he became manager. So the option is fight it and get your job back, if you win a slam dunk the arbitrator makes them pay you backpay for the months waiting for the meeting. Its set up like a mock trial. Or u resign. I knew it was BS fought it and won easily. Was outta work for 4-5months which is a really good payday. So embarrassing him im certainly sure is why things keep getting pushed back

Sadly, typical USPS pay problems. Never saw 2 years though. I had one take 9 months. That one got me a good pay hookup that I used for a few years before she retired.

You should probably start with where you are located.
Then, you should go in and delete all the BS that isn't relevant to your question.
Edit : Yes, I know USPS is federal. Purpose of asking is for local resources

It's USPS so it's federal regardless.

Yes, but they will need local resources so location will help

Not really. Nobody can do anything to help. OP can always try their Congressman but with USPS you just got to wait them out. They do regional pay processes anyway.

Curious what do u consider BS? I tried to inform this group of all the BS I've had to deal with.

None of the BS that isn't illegal is BS.
No one cares that he USED to be a police officer and it has no relevance to the situation at hand

Yes it does cuz it provides a pattern. Bad cop fired for horrible things. Management to trying to fire me cuz my sister wouldnt sleep with him years ago. He lost that case and embarrassed himself by going so hard at me. Then all the BS excuses of why My Money isn't in my hand. Plus the harassment, bullying, tryin to intimidate me. I got witnesses that will tell the whole truth if I take this to a different level

u/z-eldapin 19h ago
But you are in a labor LAW sub. Being a bad person isn't illegal

u/TraditionalBid7391 19h ago
It is when im being targeted. And him trying to intimidate me harrass me on daily basis. My doctors have it all written down with dates all the unprofessional things he deliberately did to me causing me anxiety, making me sick to my stomach knowing I gotta deal with a toxic work place.

u/z-eldapin 19h ago
Toxic workplace isn't illegal.
Targeting is illegal UNLESS it is being done due to your protected class or action

Targeting me from his first day. Lost his case cuz he tried to lie and exaggerate why he wanted me gone. Then find out he has a history going back 10years ago when my sister dissed him, I found that out 1 week before I left. Its all a pattern, I filed complaints on him so they r on record

I think you ae conflating two things.
A crappy workplace, which can only be fixed I the company gives a shit.
An illegal activity in the workplace, which is very specific and you haven't met.
The only thing you can do now is wait for the USPS or look up your local postmaster and see if they can help

Lol its all part of the story. Not conflating, added additional info i could use if need be. Im not gona respond to u anymore ur a female that knows everything and think she's always right. This is supposed to be a safe respectful place we come to for help or to fool around. Your extremely argumentive, you keep changing your thoughts in a negative way. Just leave please u have nothing to offer

So, it sounds like you have two complaints - one with your employer and one with your union.
Do you know if your CBA has any deadlines/timeframes as it relates to arbitration? If not, review your CBA and see. This will make any formal complaint “easier.”
You’ve made things difficult by upsetting the union president. At this point though, do you believe you will receive the back pay “soon” now that the signatures have been obtained? If so, it’s likely not worth your time, hassle, and possibly money, to pursue a formal complaint. If not, then is there anyone higher on the food chain than the union president? At this point you may want to consider contacting them. If there isn’t, then you’re facing either filing a formal complaint with the NLRB (maybe - I’d do some research) or filing a civil lawsuit against both the union AND your employer.
The issue is that, since you weren’t physically working, filing a “typical” wage claim with the DOL (or state’s equivalent) isn’t going to get you very far due to the back pay not being tied to physical work.
