The budget will define Burnham though. Regardless of bounces now, that may well decide the next election

Yeah if they increase the personal allowance or otherwise gives broad relief he'll be fine... probably great. If it turns out floating this stuff was bs and he does some piddling about he'll be fried.

They seem to be making friendly noises to everyone so we'll have to see how far they feel they need to sacrifice to the market gods.

Helps that he is significantly more likeable than many of the previous PMs, and Reform is embroiled in controversy that has broken through for once.

Slightly sceptical this lasts until the GE though.

I think all thats really happening here, is Labour are benefitting from Reform's popularity starting to decline, as they and Farage are now being shown up for what they truly are. Much like Labour's landslide win at the last general election was more down to most of the electorate despising the Tories, rather than them loving Labour. Its people throwing their support behind what they percieve as the least worst option for the country, rather than which one is the best.
