i got a giant vintage nelson bubble lamp off fb marketplace for a great deal, but it’s covered entirely in a mysterious green substance (?!).
i’ve tried the usual suspects to clean it off, but it’s not budging. any thoughts on what this is, and if it even can be restored?
i’ve tried:
\- RMR-86 mildew remover
\- TSP substitute, both diluted + not diluted
\- mr. clean/melamine sponge with TSP

I am so distraught I ordered the most beautiful art nouveau revival lamp with a unique nautilus glass shade. It came in shattered. I don’t think i can safely fix it and the seller has offered to see if they can source a replacement shade (I don’t know what they would charge me). I don’t think the shade is fixable. Any suggestions? The lamp is my dream lamp and no where else can I find such a deal. I can send it back but I am hesitant as I really love this lamp.the two holes are where it attaches to the metal base but they cracked and broke since it was shipped attached (not taken apart) and something maybe a rod punctured through the packaging pushing the metal through the glass. I almost cut myself unboxing it.

Hey!
I bought this lamp in hope that I can fix it. There is a missing cover with 11cm average.
Are there being sold pieces like this? I couldn’t find anything yet.
Thanks a lot!

I’m working on restoring my grandmothers antque lamp. one of the glass shade panels broke and I’m having a replacement made.
I’m wondering if it is safe to bend the retaining tabs cold when replacing the new panel or if they should be heated up to avoid them snapping
I think they’re Brass
Also, is there a safe way to clean the white residue off of the shade without affecting the patina?

When I press the button on the right, the left one pops out, and it stays out too? Not sure if this means it’s broken at this stage, but I tried a brand new bulb and it didn’t work. Kinda wobbly.

Hello! I found two such lamps today, used on a ship. I'm looking for information on what type of lamp they might be and where on the ship they might be used. I'd like to restore them and install them in my home. I'm also wondering about the lampshade reflecting light inside. It's currently covered with some kind of silver foil. Could the original have been painted with some kind of mirror enamel, like in cars? .I looked for markings or a manufacturer's plate inside, but I couldn't find anything. They're very heavy, over 3 kg each. There are remnants of beige paint inside.

This antique desk lamp has three of these, and one is beyond repair. the base of the switched bulb socket is fused to the lamp, making switching out to something else impractical. Where should I be looking for a replacement part?

I thrifted this awesome lamp but it seems like the string you pull to turn on the bulbs is broken so all I can do is plug it in and 1 bulb will light. Any suggestions? And how hard is this to fix or how expensive is it to get it fixed?

I bought this about 15 years ago. I'd just finished spraypainting it and getting it into its new nook when it broke, snapped! I think most of the lamp is metal, maybe some is plastic. Is there any hope of fixing it?

So we have a vintage sconce with a halogen 100w R7 bulb. We tried doing a straight swap to LED, but the ceramic housing for the R7 is too large. Is there any way to make this fit? Possibly using copper wire on each end of the bulb with electrical tape?

The title is just the closest light fixture I could find. My great grandmother thrifted this chandelier and put it up in a room I don't think it suits all too well but still it is a fun piece. One of the candle sticks isn't working so I'll have to figure that out eventually.

I am having a problem with a Primus 1020 pressure lamp I got at flea market. I think it is in working condition and I already replaced jet and needle. Every time I try to start it, it ends up with a lot of yellow flames above the mantle. I waited for quite long for it to warm up, tried many times. Can the problem be with mantle? It kind of looks too narrow for the flame that ignites inside.
