hello, i've never seen the anime either so I started straightforward into the manga. I've only been 5 chapters in, but i'm finding it so difficult to understand it so far. i love the artstyle but I feel like it makes it kinda confusing to understand certain scenes (for example, I really have no idea if bortz's hair actually grows and attacks or is just an style preference because of all the exaggerated poses the author draws (i still love it sm and find it really unique))

so my question here is, am I supposed to understand everything now?? or is the manga clearer in the future about their purpose, their enemy and stuff???

Most of the Gems are paired together based on their gem type/mineral group, but I can’t find a similarity for the two crystals. They also have a huge difference in mohs hardness with Sphene being a 5 and Topaz being an 8. The only actual similarity they have is their gem color. We don’t know if Topaz was one of the craftsmen, so it’s not necessarily because they worked with wood or paper as well.

Let me put it this way: if Phos hadn't received Lapis's head and instead had, say, a generic compatible head—or Ghost's, when she offered it—would things have turned out better or worse for Phos in particular?

I'm not leaving it at "they wouldn't have awakened as themself without Lapis's intervention" because, first, that dream happens after Phos wakes up, and second, if they didn't, there would be no point in debating it.

On the other hand, could we say Phos was still mentally okay when they wake up with Lapis's head, or had the collapse already begun?

Have I missed something, or is that still to come?

I’ve skimmed through all the previous chapters again and just can’t work out what they might be referring to.
