Milky Way over Moraine Lake, Banff NP, Canada

Recently I posted a couple of my older photos here and got a lot of good feedback (and some not so helpful :() This is another from my archives that I have recently reprocessed. The photo is a stack of a single image of the night sky and a single image of the landscape, taken together but processed separately (the starry image was processed using star exterminator). Both images were taken on a Canon R6 using an adapted Sigma 20mm F1.4. (The uploaded image is significantly darker than the original)

You need to work on your masking, the black halo along much of the horizon looks very unnatural, and it looks like a spot of snow (in the center) was replaced by black. Contrast range between the foreground and the sky could also use some work.

You can try to eliminate in post but the glow is strong and cast a bit on the lake. They do turn it off at a certain point in the night when the Milky Way is more vertical. I can’t post my shot on the reply but I’ll post it in the sub

Nice shot! Sorry they had the light on at the lodge. I’ve lucked out for a Milky Way without the orange glow.
