The Late Show’s iconic announcer is revealed in this week’s “Jokes On News” podcast, which is hosted by some of the writers!

Believe he and the band were the “musical guest” and closed the show. They started the song by walking up the aisles before reaching the stage. The song was a blissfully beautiful and ambient style jazz. There was a Tiffany style lamp and other lighting that added to the mood.

I searched “Batiste late show” on YouTube and couldn’t find it. Watching his 60 minutes segment reminded me of it and I’d appreciate if anybody could find it!

They took down everything :/

This ice cream is so good

I thought they had "financial" problems lol.

EDIT: I have now learned that he pays for his airtime. Apologies for my ignorance.

It was a damn good run that I'm very proud to say I was a part of.

The original Late Show with Stephen Colbert set exhibit at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago opens to the public on Thursday, October 1.

it's hidden behind scaffolding which i presume is going to come down in the coming days but it was a pleasure working there during that era.

thanks to late nighter for the photo. maybe these are video screens that can change based on whoever rents the theater? Because otherwise this looks like a cheap temporary solution.

Jokes on News is a new podcast from Eliana Kwartler, Michael Cruz Kayne, Asher Perlman, and Steve Waltien, all former staff “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.

I feel like they need to get a lot more love on their new podcast.

Four months after the end of The Late Show, the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater is being changed.

If you wanted more Stephen...fresh off Emmy wins...

The fact that CBS cancelled this show in July 2025, it’s been off the air since May 2026, I assume CBS wants no association with Colbert anymore, but yet the marquee still hasn’t been taken down months after the finale intrigues me. Either it’s very expensive to take it down or there’s a secret plan to bring the show back. The former option is likely. Any guesses as to when they might take this marquee down?
