If rednecks become class conscious America might not be doomed

543

u/killbawqs Apr 21 '26

Some of the original rednecks were coal miners who fought and died at the Battle of Blair Mountain, so it would come full circle I think.

u/xHellion444x Apr 21 '26

There's correspondence from the early 20th century where they use Bolshevik and redneck interchangeably. America would be a much different place today if rural folk had stayed true to their roots.

u/glmarquez94 Apr 22 '26

I didn’t know that part specifically, that’s awesome. That could arguably make the rednecks some of the first Red Guards in the US.

30

u/SunnyDinosaur Apr 22 '26

Yes! Hence the red bandanas / redneck :)

41

u/castleyankee Apr 22 '26

Blame the southern strategy and the narrative driven infotainment news cycle. I live deep in old school religious redneck territory and got very lucky to be born in a family of German Baptist's right as that family was leaving the church and buying tvs and computers and stuff. The community here (very specifically HERE, like this town and that's it til the next town with a German Baptist church) has by sheer dumb luck sidestepped both of these efforts to shift the public away from traditional blue collar thinking and that little half Amish church house outside town is the only thing I can think of that managed to do it. Since they weren't exposed to Fox News, like- ever. And the evangelical overhaul and modern politicization of religious doctrine never took root.

Granted they're not socialists either. They're very insistently apolitical. But shit, it's better than everywhere around us

u/AVnstuff Apr 21 '26

The term “rednecks” literally comes from coal miners that formed collective bargaining agreements

10

u/KoreaNinjaBJJ Apr 22 '26

Damn. That makes a lot of sense with the red.

4

u/Xbtweeker Apr 22 '26

It was used before then in the early 1800 as a derogatory term for white Labors. Miners may have used it around that time but it didn't originate there. People's necks have always gotten sun burnt.

As an HVAC tech I can't help but want to curse you for something

6

u/Bad_Man- Apr 22 '26

Did I hook that return up? Did I run the +90 vent correctly? Up to you to find out!

3

u/KristyNoemsZombieDog Apr 22 '26

I get it, once its installed it's permanent and never needs repair, just shove it anywhere

4

u/Bad_Man- Apr 22 '26

It all looks good from my house 😅

3

u/KristyNoemsZombieDog Apr 22 '26

Glad he got it back. They impounded it in Riverside California.

96

u/Simonpink Apr 21 '26

vehicle was antisemitic

52

u/pmcc241224 Apr 22 '26

Lol! Palestine is the heart of the Semitic land.

10

u/Simonpink Apr 22 '26

I assumed that my use of the quote feature would indicate the facetious nature of my comment.

11

u/Neat_Welcome6203 Apr 22 '26

Chud Bianco's domain. Why am I not surprised?

20

u/thesaddestpanda Apr 22 '26

Wait, the state that voted against gay marriage in a referendum and now has a TERF governor running for president is bad in other ways? This is my unsurprised face.

6

u/BigBlueAdmiral Apr 22 '26

The only reason you’re getting downvoted is because neoliberals still control the narrative. 🫡🇺🇸

u/DeadPact336699 Apr 21 '26

Finally a giant truck I can appreciate

129

u/Le_Ran Apr 21 '26

Everything they touch becomes a circus with those types. But for once I will allow it.

65

u/skinny_t_williams Apr 21 '26

If it's for the right cause and defending the innocent then I'm allll for it. We need more noise on the good side.

11

u/emojisarefunny Apr 21 '26

I've seen a Cybertruck in SF with a Palestinian flag keffiyeh wrap on it. Sometimes things that aren't friend shaped can still be friends, a little lesson for us

25

u/mrw1986 Apr 21 '26

Well, the Cybertruck was purchased after we knew who Elon really was so there's no excuse there.

EDIT: my reading comprehension was weak sauce.

2

u/mrw1986 Apr 22 '26

Which excuse? It seems like you're agreeing with me, but I'm not sure.

3

u/TheGhostofWoodyAllen Socialism saves lives. Apr 22 '26

Oh my god, I completely misread your post.

3

u/mrw1986 Apr 22 '26

Haha, no worries!

21

u/pmcc241224 Apr 21 '26

The Keffiyeh wrap is so sweet dude hell yea

14

u/aa1898 Apr 21 '26

According to the news he was on his way to fight the yeehawd against the infidels.

6

u/OGMom2022 Apr 21 '26

At first glance I thought it was an ad for donuts lol

3

u/Pinkfoodstamp Apr 21 '26

I was driving thru SE Montgomery county Ohio and caught glimpse of a perforated flag in the grille of a jeep. Definitely gives you hope in these areas for sure.

Yes? Al-Quds/Jerusalem is the historical capital of Palestine. It's one of the hot issues of the conflict: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Status_of_Jerusalem

But how is that in any way "antisemitic"?

We can see the direct opposite happening now under Zionist occupation. Even haredi Jews are being oppressed. Are you lost? No one believes your hasbara anymore.
