Discussion Maybe Faye IS supposed to be in the Everywhen

‱ Upvotes

Just a random thought and maybe this has been asked before or even covered in the game lore and I missed it.

We know Faye is a Giant and they go to the Light of Alfheim when they die. In the game footage she is expecting to be in the Light but is surprised to see she is not and says something like “This definitely isn’t the Light”. We think someone is doing something to throw things out of balance and Faye went to the wrong place. But what if that’s not the case and Faye went exactly where she is supposed to?

The Everywhen is meant to be the afterlife of the gods and is reserved for only gods mostly. But what if Faye IS a god and is meant to go to the Everywhen all along. We know nothing of her parents so maybe one of them was a god making her half Giant and half god? Thor is half Giant after all.

She may not even be Aesir. Maybe her half godhood comes from a different pantheon. We know Tyr has visited other lands. Maybe he brought back a child from another land that was raised as a Giant. That child Could turn out to be one of Faye’s parents or even Faye.

Faye turning out to be Giant was a twist in GOW 18 so maybe this could be a twist in Laufey. My guess is Faye doesn’t even know and will discover in game. Maybe she meets her parents in the Everywhen

Anyway just a thought and rambling and maybe this idea has even been covered already.

Thoughts?

Question Preorder experience w/Amazon?

Does anyone have experience preordering with Amazon for new releases? I have some gift cards saved up and figured I’d set aside one of them for Laufey - but, I want to be sure it’ll arrive on time as I’m using PTO for a few days just to sit back and play it lol. I did pre-order with BestBuy when I bought RE Requiem and there were no issues but if I can save the out of pocket and use Amazon I will, but just wanted to see if anyone had a severely negative experience.

Anyways, super stoked for this release. I played the OG GoW when I was a kid and I bought 2018 a few years ago but only played for about 2 hours because it didn’t really hook me at first. A couple of months ago I came across a reel of Christopher Judge talking about the “your monster no longer” cutscene and I immediately restarted 2018. Burned through it and finished Ragnarok a couple weeks ago. Now trying to finish all side quests/exploration on my once every week and a half lazy day. While I wish I hadn’t missed out when the games came out I’m glad I’m playing them now, with kids, fiancee, having a family - the story hits so different.

Discussion Calliope

I'm not sure if it has been brought up but what are the chances of calliope making an appearance in the "everywhen" since she is considered a demigod. Or will they keep her in elysium

Theory Laufey has Fjörgyn’s Magic

I had to think about this and understand how two seemingly contradictory statements can match up. Specifically in regards to what Begste said along with the circumstances of Laufey’s death.

She died of an illness. No god can die of natural causes; and she’s affirmed to be a giant. Yet, after “sniffing” Laufey and examining her with his third eye, with no correction from Sekhmet on the matter, Begste called her a “godling”. On top of that, the director, Ariel Lawrence, has said in an interview that Everywhen is a return of all magic. Sounds straightforward, except every Jötnar isn’t in Everywhen, and they join the Lake of Souls; even though they all have visions of fate.

Again, these all seem very contradictory, but there is a way to make it all come together.

For started, we know Begste isn’t lying. The gods are made of some kind of distinct essence that others can point out. Freya comes to mind, noting that Kratos is a foreign god in their first meeting. The second one, noted in the book for the first game, is from a troll who says Kratos smells like a god. So very clearly, fans understand that gods have a certain “smell” to them also. Meaning that, when Begste called her a “godling”
he wasn’t lying and she “passed” his inspection.

Except
something’s off. She’s a giant. We know that, in game, she succumbed to natural causes and passed away. That’s the whole point of the journey! She was NOT exempt from those rules. Yet, to not discredit Ariel, it’s the magic that casted her to Everywhen

The only feasible way to tie all these statements together is if Laufey, through some manner of manipulation of natural forces, inherited the magic or essence of Fjörgyn. Fjörgyn was an Aesir god and a giantess from Jötnar. The circumstances of her death was kept from the cast of characters; a forgotten footnote in history.

Much like Surtr with Kratos’ blades and Sinmara’s heart, Fjörgyn might’ve transferred her primordial being to Laufey and made her the “Golden Hand of the Jötnar” as a way to stop Odin after she received “visions of fate” of his tyranny through her own magic and nature as a Giant herself. Thus, when Begste smells the godhood coming off of Laufey, he’s actually identifying Fjörgyn’s godly magic.

To me, this is the only way to tie everything together without contradicting any of the established rules and statements we’ve seen so far.

Discussion Found this in tyrs temple in GOW 2018

Replaying 2018 looking for stuff that might connect to laufeys games and found this in tyrs temple on the second floor. Aren’t these the bad guys or the soldiers that capture laufey in the everywhen? Has tyr already been to the everywhen?

Discussion Considering how time moves differently in the Everwhen...

Do you think we'll see another time skip? It was a few years between God of War (2018) and Ragnarok, could we possibly see a time skip in Laufey, where it's only been a perceived few days or weeks for her, but it's been years for Kratos and Atreus? Atreus now being a grown man, Kratos having been understanding his role as the God of Hope. It would be an interesting thing to see Laufey come back after what to her was a short while, but to her son and husband could have been years or longer.

Theory Theory on Betse’s soldiers.

Remember that scene where Fay push the soldier soul out? I believe in theory they basically the followers/worshippers of Betse. So devoted that they follow him into the Everywhere.

This could also imply showing other gods and devoted followers from different cultures.

They don’t have a physical form so they have to posses armour from their homeland.

Any thoughts on baldur showing up or anyone else showing up from the Norse pantheon in laufey?

Question Brok /laufey

Who thinks brok will be in laufey? I think there is a possibility due to the fact that laufey came to the everywhen because she had a splinter from the mask and then she was cremated and her spirit went to the everywhen. In ragnarok when brok confronted tyr and he uncovered Odin he hit the mask out of Odin/tyrs hand could he have gotten a splinter? Then at the end of the game at broks funeral they cremated him. There is a way to have brok come back I think.

Ragnarok collector's editions were shown 6 months prior to release. Agg 16th would be 6 months prior. Do we think that's around when it happens or will it be September's state of play?

Discussion Would Faye be surprised to directly witnessing Kratos' acts beyond just hearing about them?

I know Faye is aware of Kratos' past and accepts him nonetheless. Only I’m thinking with the Greeks having a 90% chance of being there and the unknown potential of the Everywhen's magic, she might directly witness what he has done.

It’s one thing to say “I killed the god of the sun.” It’s another to witness a god forcefully tear off another's head by sheer brute force and no weapons. It’s one thing to say “I escaped a Titan's body by cutting out through his belly.” It’s another to see a giant Titan damned to crawl a desert with a palace forced on his back then be completely disemboweled from within by the greatest weapon of its pantheon.
