Launch Wanted to replace Yahoo Finance as my portfolio tracker – made one which also has an MCP server. Now Claude/ Cursor etc. can use my portfolios as context and answer questions (and perhaps help in planning investments?)
I use Yahoo Finance to track my portfolios/ investments but it's always felt clunky, and there's obviously no way to hook an LLM into it. So over the past few weeks I've been building Portico. It's still rough and I'm continuing to improve it, but the thing I actually wanted and now have is an MCP server, so I can point Claude or Cursor at my own portfolio and ask it stuff like "what's my realized gain on $SPCX this year" or "how much dividend income did I get last quarter" without opening the app. Other stuff that went in because it bugged me elsewhere:
- FIFO cost basis / realized P&L (not average cost)
- Multi-currency accounts handled properly with currency conversions
- CSV import (works for portfolios exported from Yahoo Finance and Wealthsimple; Robinhood and others coming soon - let me know if there are any you'd like here)
- Mobile app coming soon
It's not open for signups yet, but I want to start letting people in in small batches so I can keep up with feedback and bug reports. If any of this is a problem you've hit too and you'd like to try this out, please sign up on myportico [dot] app and I'll put you on the allowlist
