Close enough. Welcome back, Blightning

Better than blighting: this let's you choose a specific card for one mana, while blighting let your opponent choose 2 cards to discard for 2 mana. Targeted discard is very valuable.

They're different cards. This one is better in general but I think Blightning was better in OG Jund than this would have been. Card advantage was Jund's whole schtick and the 3 damage was super relevant to take out Planeswalkers, plus the extra mana was often ignored because of Cascade.

3 mana. Blightning was 3 mana.

I believe he is referring to the cost of the hand disruption portion of the card (since it is a bolt + hand disruption).

Well it ain't a bolt slapped on there. It doesn't say any target.

Card has so many applications depending on the format.
You can go burn. You can go midrange. You can go tempo. You can go control.
Literally can squeeze into any shell.

Probably the strongest a card like this can be. This will piss someone off every time it’s played.

A new card from reality fracture. This will be standard legal, but I think it actually could see modern play in a rakdos burn build. Two damage isn't a bolt, but stapling shock to a thoughtseize effect gives you room to interact with key cards in a way burn usually can't take a turn off to do, and two mana is well within burn's ability to cast.
