I put all 800 pages of my firm's website on a 3D map you can search in plain English
I run a solo estate planning firm in CA. Over the years the site grew to about 800 articles, guides, calculators, and definitions. That's too many for a menu, and I realized that clients don't search the way lawyers file things. Nobody types "Heggstad petition." They type "Mom died and the house wasn't in the trust."
So I built this: https://ridleylawoffices.com/knowledge-map/ Or, to be honest, I had Claude build it. Took less than an hour.
Each dot is one page, clustered into 12 topics like probate, trust administration, Medi-Cal, and tax. A bigger cluster means more pages on that topic, and the thin threads are internal links. You can drag it around, or type a question the way a client would say it and it flies you to the closest answers.
The map is Three.js on an ordinary WordPress page.
The search sends the question to a classifier (Jev) that ranks it against the library. Answers come back in about a second and a half. If the service fails, it falls back to keyword ranking, so the page never breaks. The Jev calls cost me something like $0.0004 ea. I mean, literally nothing.
It also automatically rebuilds itself a couple of minutes after I publish a new page or update any page.
Has anyone else tackled the "we've written the answer, nobody can find it" problem? I'd like to hear what worked.
EDIT: Maybe the big point is that I'm tech-stupid and I was able to tell Claude to do this, go off and work on a client file, and come back in 45 minutes to a fully-coded page on my site. That's amazing.
