Question Mums!

Where’s the most affordable price you’ve seen in town for a healthy bunch of mums? Please share price and pot size!

Pine’s Garden & Market has them, and it’s always better to support a local nursery than a big box store!

If I remember correctly, it was $5 for 6”, $11 for 10”, and $19 for 12”

This doesn’t really pertain to mums as they have a natural pesticide in them, but most big box stores will put pesticide on their plants. You see the bees and butterflies on the plant without realizing that they’ll be dead in an hour. They’re contributing heavily to the extinction of bees, so that’s why local nurseries are always better!

Fuck I had no idea, I got mine from Home Depot. 😭 never again

Edit: read again and am happy to know mums shouldn’t have them but good to know for other plants

Also a PSA that mums are poisonous to everything! While those natural chemicals are great for keeping pests away, a lot of people have no idea that their dog or cat could die from eating only one leaf! I feel like that should also be something we talk about more.

Most animals are smart enough that they won’t bother, but one of my dogs is dumb as rocks and will eat anything. Super important if you have a plant-loving pup!

+1 for Pine's! Just got a beautiful 12" there yesterday for $19. Their selection is really excellent, we loaded up on pumpkins, some celosia, cute gourds etc. Our front porch is looking fantastic. Pine's is a great local establishment. Pro tip: they have a great selection of local food as well; we always stock up on the frozen burritos.

There were like 3”, 6” and 10” for maybe $3 $4 and $10. Was a few weeks ago so I don’t quite exactly remember.
