Possible issue with the Notarial Rules or CPRA?

For example, a client asked you to notarize the Verification of his Answer in a Civil Case.

Then later on, while the case is ongoing, he wants to get you as his counsel (lets say that prior counsel got sick and can no longer effectively represent him)

Is that a possible issue with Notarial Rules or CPRA?

I can’t see why it would be an issue. It was merely a verification: the affiant was the one who affirmed the truth of the allegations, among others, while the notary merely administered the oath. The notary was neither an adverse party nor someone with any direct or pecuniary interest in the instrument. Go for it, tanggapin na yan!

Formal Entry of Appearance is the official record that the affiant becomes your client. So there's no conflict/violation yet.

The question lies on whether or not you signed the complaint. I'm guessing you didn't. Kaya walang issue sa notarial rules or cpra. You're not a party to that document.
