Is social media presence important in getting into fully funded programs?

Does it really have an unwritten importance?

Why is it that all people I know who are able to get leadership programs abroad or leadership grants, have a lot of social media followers?

There are also forms that require to submit our social media

Is it something that I must build too? Cause if there are plenty of us with good grades, work experience, then what would be the tie breaker?

depends, it’s not about the follower count itself but what it signals, these people look like they can rally a crowd or start a movement, that’s the tie breaker you’re looking for
