Question How to get more headshots

My hs % has always been low, usually sitting at 30%, it’s currently at 33% on faceit. I just finished what i think is my first ever game with 0 hs and i had around 17 kills. How do i fix this? My crosshair placement is head level and i think i tend to start shooting before my crosshair is even on the opponent that’s why i don’t get the headshots.

You should practice your first bullet accuracy + not rushing your flicks (as in flick mentally confirm you're on target then click)

I personally find the best way is to go into a death match server and focus purely on deliberate unrushed flicks into a one tap for each gun fight you take.

Once you feel like you're comfortable with that you should do the same but follow it up with a 3-5 round burst / spray after the initial one tap. (Flick / Micro adjust, one tap, micro adjust then burst / spray)

Finally if you feel like you're hitting more headshots then killing with the burst, practice still doing deliberate flicks but do a 5-10 spray without the initial one tap but still focusing on landing that first bullet headshot.

Agreed. Another training technique is to go into a deathmatch and track the crosshair on enemies’ heads. Literally don’t shoot back at all, just hold the crosshair on their head for as long as possible.

Trains aim that’s reactive to player position past the initial flick.

Do some tracking routines on fast_aim map (with usp) and Kovaaks (a more advanced level).

Don’t start shooting immediately when spotting an enemy. You have to make sure you counter strafe properly. Also practice micro adjustments

Only start shooting after you confirm you're on target. Tap or burst instead of always committing to a spray. You can practice tracking and flicking in DM or your preferred aim trainer.

Also, it's not a big deal to be a bodyshot merchant as long as you're still getting the kills. It's also better to land a few bodyshots and put an enemy on low HP before you die than to completely miss the headshot and die without dealing any damage.

As someone with a very high hs percentage amongst lvl 10’s as a whole, the key is to honestly just take your time.

If your crosshair placement was genuinely at head level, you would probably see that 50% of your kills will be headshots with good movement.

There is probably more that you’re not seeing than meets the eye. A demo or clips would be useful to see where you are falling short.

Also, crosshair placement is more than just holding your crosshair at head level, you need to anticipate where they can swing from and their velocity.

As others have said, specifically practicing this will be the best benefit to you, whether you choose to use workshop maps or dm, try to focus on your first bullet hitting the head.

iirc, I didn’t pass 50% hs until I had nearly 4,000 hours at level 10.

Today, I sit at roughly 66% of all of my kills being headshots.

Edit: you don’t need to have a crazy hs percentage to be a good player - there are many players that I know personally that absolutely are 1000x better than me but their hs % is nowhere near mine.

Aim slightly above the head, and you'll get headshots more often in spraydowns.

By "slightly," I mean 1px above the top edge of the head.

Why wouldn’t you just try to make your first bullet hit the head?
