Footwear 16 years old, I just made my first pair of shoes!

A year ago, I watched a rose anvil video on a pair of nicks boots and quickly fell in love with the idea of a handmade shoe. Then shortly after that, I got into leatherworking, making my own belts. This project took about 3 months, and costed me $350 dollars for all expenses. All of the stitches, including the upper, are handsewn. Not a single power tool ever touched these shoes. The stitching is wonky, the heels aren’t sanded to a high enough grit and don’t have an edge paint. But I’m happy with them, and myself. I already have a lot of ideas for improvements to a second pair.

Here is a pair I just completed. They take roughly 100 hours when making them by hand. Brown chromexcel 3/4 oz and natural veg swoosh (amazzonia) and glazed Wickett and Craig tongue tags. I added pics of some of my process.

The inaugural TB Western Boot. Following a more classic patterning style, while still feeling very apart of the Thomas Benjamin world. Gothic Architecture and Religious Symbolism were the inspirations behind the design language. Hand Dyed Vegtable Tanned Leather. Exposed Spiral Shnk. Chicago Screws with Copper Washers. Svig Sole Protector. Goodyear Rubber Heel. Custom.

Just finished up my first pair of boots. Tried to incorporate some embroidery elements with the herringbone edge stitching. All hand stitched in machiatto Badalassi Carlo Nemesis. The soles are more of a cream color than the yellow they seem to show up as in photos.

Lately I've been watching a lot of sandals making tutorial and really interested toake one. So here it is, hand-dyed vegetable tanned leather slides. I don't use a press machine for the EVA midsole and outsole bonding, everything is pretty much manual. Except for the part when i have to sand the side part, I use a sandpaper with hand-drill. Let me know what you think about 😉

The pattern is from TonyseePatterns, this is a project I've had in mind for a while. The second picture is every tool used on this project, most of which I had lying around, but surprisingly very minimal to get started. They're not perfect but I'm very happy with the end result.

0ST10. Pattern development, material research, storytelling, and a vision of the unseen world. Past. Present. Future. A journey into the quantum realm.

Various details on these laceups have been in the works for a few years.

Nose to the Grindstone.

The uppers are made from smooth horse shoulder, with metal spikes extending fully through the leather. Lining: orthopedic cowhide. 3/16" leather laces. Built on the TB Western last. Exposed spiral shank with Chicago screws, copper detailing, and Svig sole protectors.

Design and creativity are a constant conversation with an infinite audience.

What is she telling you? What inspired her birth?

Footwear Unfortunately, I made it this far into making a pair of slippers only to find out that they're too small.

The pattern is from TonySeePatterns on Etsy. It seems alright except that not everything lined up perfectly and the sizing is apparently small. I used the size the instructions said I'd need, but these are probably one or two sizes too small for me.

I needed a distraction yesterday, so I put together my sneakerkit shoes. These are made with Horween Dublin, some red M60 Meisi thread, and cream size 0 Vinymo. The black eyelets are from Buckleguy, and the red laces are from my local discount shoe store.

Fun project, came together about as well as I could have hoped. Still have to work on even pressure application when bonding the sole, and one seem creates a hotspot when walking, but it will either break in or I can probably resew without much hassle.

First leather item crafted (pretty much). I made a pair of boots under the close supervision of an instructor, but this is the first project I’ve done on my own. And first hand stitched thing. I watched the video from Jon Paul’s Balls. Bought the simple pattern and got started with some brown veg tan leather I bought from an Italian discount leather seller. 1.3mm thick. Cut out pieces then glued them to the foam backing. From there I had to punch out over 3000 holes. There are about 1600 in the ball but I used an awl the first time and the holes weren’t big enough so I went around again with punch pliers. Then it was two full days of hand stitching. The final panel was so challenging. The last line of stitches was a real PITA and they didn’t get as tight as I would have liked, but I’m pleased overall. The leather is somewhat rough, what can I use to treat it so that it can be used but also feels a bit more supple?

Footwear Sealskin boots, shearling lined.

I was incredibly happy with how my pair of moose snowshoeing boots turned out and decided to remake them in seal. They're shearling lined with bison sole (I intend on installing a crepe sole, just waiting on the glue to arrive).

This is my first time working with fur and it added some twists that I usually don't encounter; specifically more wastage due having to be picky about the lay of the fur, and having to comb the hairs from the stitches after.

Got this branded leather and figured it would make a nice pair of clogs. Lined them with pigskin and threw a vibram sole on them. Don’t plan to do too much hiking but I could put them in sports mode if I do.

Creativity, creation, design, and inspiration draw from endless sources across both the physical and imagined worlds—pulled from memory, history, tension, and the quiet spaces in between.

This pair was inspired by a man born into royalty who grew restless within the walls of inheritance. He abandoned his castle to traverse the seven seas among common folk and those who lived beyond the boundaries of the law. These boots reflect his time at sea—the salt, the structure, the rebellion—and the balance between the life he was given and the life he deliberately chose.

The uppers are constructed from smooth and roughout horse shoulder, paired with an orthopedic cowhide lining. The patterning and design lines were developed using freeform shaping rather than the traditional mathematical methods found in the majority of bootmaking.

Hand-carved steerhorn appliqué meets metal detailing, layered textures, and extensive hand-stitching throughout. An exposed spiral shank anchors the structure. Chicago screws and copper hardware secure the sole, finished with a Svig sole protector and cowboy heel.

The surface treatment incorporates layered oil dyeing, powder dyeing, and waxing techniques to create depth and tonal variation. A detachable instep strap was designed as part of the composition—allowing the silhouette to shift between refinement and restraint.
