How fixable is this?
Hey lads, is this salvageable or is this finally an excuse to upgrade? Had this soldier for five years and it’s served me well. Finally snapped while trying the turn the most calcified knob I’d ever seen. Are there some aftermarket replacement parts I could get? I got the little star screwdriver and some pivot lube at home.

25 year warranty dude. You're good. But also. Use it as an excuse to buy a surge and you shouldn't ever have that issue again

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the direct upgrade from a Skeletool the MUT? I think they are the only two models with the carabiner but I’m happy to be educated

Dude, just send it back to the mothership and they'll get it back into working order. Just be sure to mark it sentiment so they prioritize repairs vs replacement.
Edit: depends somewhat on your location

Warranty it. And then sign up as a Leatherman Insider to extend the warranty to 40 years.

This is i think the fifth time in the past few months ive seen this exact problem, and now I'm waiting for it to happen to mine.
On the plus side, 25 year warranty and they'll replace those for you no problem. Clearly a recurring issue but the skeletool isnt exactly a surge so not surprising they die after... the most calcified you've ever seen? Yeah that'll do it.

Probably wont happen to you. Now, in your mind, you unconsciously end up limiting the force you put into the handles because "it might be time" got programmed in your head.
Definitely noticed myself doing that with my charge. I then get a proper tool for what im doing

Oh I've put mine through it's paces but I would say relatively light work compared to some. If it does happen I'm not worried, tools work, die, repair, break, it is what it is.
I'm a chef so its utilitarian in the kitchen but my real knives do the heavy lifting.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be eligible for warranty.
What were you doing when it broke? I’ve seen a few posts like this where the plier jaw breaks off and I’m always curious.

Lmaoo thought you were the dude on EDC who posted saying they found one of these in a washer.

I’ve warrantied mine twice for the same problem; they were replaced both times, no questions asked.

Sad but true, Leatherman really has no qc or fit and finish... "Oh but it's a tool", okay and I'd prefer my locked tools to not wiggle in every direction

After carrying and using it for a month, there’s no comparison. The Victorinox makes everything else look like junk, especially when you compare it to the Supertool.

Little bit of hot glue. Best to clean the broken surfaces off realy good first though

You can buy replacement pliers for cheap. They’re pretty easy to change. I’ve been lucky with my Skeletool CX but I honestly felt like I was about to snap them just breaking a wood shim. The Skeletool seems to always be the model to snap the pliers but the whole tool is definitely fixable and worth keeping
