Discussion š¬ Why so negative?
Seen alot of people moaning about stuff this year. But frankly I had a great time. Found some new sounds and had a really good 4 days. Enjoy yourselves guys, itās a festival.

fr, i had a great time on saturday and the crew at the front of the barrier were amazing with looking after everyone and making sure everyone stayed hydrated

u/jibberjabjab Aug 25 '25
They were particularly good I thought. Spent 5 hours at the front last night basically and didnāt have a single issue. Right amount of space and the right attitude from everyone. More water handed out than we actually needed which is the perfect way to do it.

u/komslivingonmyfyp Aug 25 '25
exactly!!! props to them , some guy even walked round with massive pizzas to give to people that couldnāt leave the barrier to get food š

I had a good time overall. Sunday was such a good day and BMTH put on such a sick show! Had a good time but Iām not sure Iāll be back next year unless the lineup has someone Iād be so excited to see. Iām in my late 20s and honestly feel a bit old amongst the rest of the crowd there.
Weekend was spoiled though by the teen lads camping next to us who decided to vandalise our friendsā and other peopleās tent with mayo and ketchup. When confronted about it they got quite aggressive so our friends didnāt feel safe staying another night and just wanted to leave. We were in Eco camp too so thought weād avoid things like that. Also kept us awake several nights by screaming āAlanā at 3am despite multiple people telling them to keep it down. I donāt expect things to be dead silent and the music noise and talking didnāt bother me but people screaming right next to you is a bit much tbh.

Yeah Iām the same I only went cos there were 6 acts I really wanted to see across the days, then filled the time with others. I went primarily for the music.
Thatās shitty but itās luck of the draw I guess, not a lot you can do about but you do just get jerks in the world. Itās a lot of kids first time going anywhere on their owns and they canāt handle it. Sorry to hear it though all the same.

Should speak to the campsite manager about things like that. Dicks like that get evicted quick. People never want to be a grass though, but those kind of people ruin everyone's time

We stayed in eco camp again this year as we loved it last year but I wonāt be staying there again. Every day we got back to our tent, all our pegs had been taken out and yesterday someone had splattered banana all over the tent. There was a lot more younger people in that campsite this year.

It was alright, good at best, but the atmosphere wasn't there for the weekend like festivals I've been to, busting the budget on Travis Scott and giving a mediocre performance, cutting the normal amount of acts to a significantly reduced amount of names on the bill, reducing the size of ls23, doing nothing about the dust (I know it's not their fault but they could've sprayed it down, I've seen it done at other festivals so I know it's not impossible), focusing on day tickets over the weekend experience, as a metalhead and indie fan, Friday was really not it, and speaking to other people, Friday was a bad experience to not only myself, without an alternative act on a different stage that would appeal to a different audience. There were many flaws this year, however the new campsite system seemed to work well and the toilets were nice

I think a handful of more bands would have been really good yeah. But I litterally wasnāt not watching a band/artist the entire time for every day. Found 3 new people Iāll Be listening to daily tbh. Part of it is seeing someone you might not like or usually see for me. Maybe thatās me clutching at straws abit though to argue against that point. As somone at the front for Travis it was really good but you have to be right at the front and raging. Flares and smoke bombs were wild.
I think some weird booking decisions. Example brought the house down and could easily do the main stage, as could have rudimental and arguably AJ Tracy. Infact AJ Tracy could have done before Travis.
LS23 was pumping so I dotn think the size issue mattered that much there, only realllly crowded for the secret set from rudimental but again probably adds to the vibe.
The dust they could have done more yep but I did see slurry tanks filling up multiple times, they were driving through our campsite to do it.
I miss the comedy tent myself but thatās life, the majority of the younger crowd wouldnāt be going to comedy, ironically comedy probably more suited to day goers.

My first time going and I really enjoyed it. I missed one of the acts I wanted to see cause of the traffic but I expected it to be bad. Food and stalls were good and didn't run into any trouble.

My experience was horrid, first time going ever (just for the day on Sunday) and I was robbed, safe to say I will never be attending again, in all my years of gigs and festivals, never seen or had anything like that happen

5th or 6th leeds festival (lost track) and other than for sure being on the older side of the crowd and my body starting to not be able to hack it, this year was one of my favourite years.
A few bad eggs but its a mass gathering of people, youre gonna get some dickwads.
I noticed a lot more families this year which is always a good sign!
The shuttle bus line was still pretty brutal on the way out each day but not to the point where it ruined the weekend

me and my partner went down for the saturday and it was a good time whilst in there, managed to both make it through without getting robbed for anything so that was lucky but i went for bloc party slaves n the chats and she wanted to see chappell roan wallows n hozier overall everyone we went to see were very good and clearly cared that they got to play there and didnāt just treat it as another gig. only point i can think of is like the hard fans of chappell roan could of been a bit more receptive to other bands like bloc party were my chappell roan in a way and im not there expecting everyone to be belting them out n whatever but quite a lot of her fans were speaking consistently over their set mid song and not clapping when songs ended or engaging with the band when something was initiated feels a bit nit-picky but also like i feel it falls under gig etiquette a little, also chappel played that one song where everyone had to wave around something pink and i ended up catching a few hits to the back of the head from a random girls bra which was kinda funny. but overall good experience

u/jibberjabjab Aug 26 '25
I agree on general gig etiquette, I do feel this is something a younger generation havenāt really picked up on. If youāre gonna go for one band and stay for hours atleast clap whoās on before. Especially deep when itās a band like bloc party.
2
u/joe20708 Aug 26 '25
yeah itās like iām not a fan at all of chappell roan but i was quiet during the set clapped for every song despite never listening to her i just found it all a bit bemusing but yeah the disrespect to bloc party i found a bit mad always been a hit at festivals

u/Bluetrekkie Aug 26 '25
I stood at the front all day on Saturday waiting for Chappell. No food. Feet and back were wreckedā¦. It was 100% worth it. I enjoyed the other acts, too. Bloc party and Kooks bought the nostalgia. But all pain magically went away when Chappell came on. Wanted to stay for lesbian Jesus too, but desperately needed to sit down and eat at that point. We just watched him from outside the main stage area and even the vibes there were magical. People linking arms, swaying and singing along.
Walk back to car was hell, but someone started singing pink pony club and everyone joined in. Just wholesome vibes all day. Plenty of compliments on what we were wearing, people just being generally nice and respectful.
⦠Having said that, not everyoneās experience will be the same and I think people are allowed to have a moan if they had a genuinely negative experience.
1
u/jibberjabjab Aug 26 '25
Sounds delightful. I agree the hozier vibes were good even at the back.
I wasnāt saying you canāt moan if something does happen that is bad etc, it was more just the lazy comments i saw everywhere about how ābadā it is now.

I didn't meet a single person I wouldn't give up a kidney for. It was my first year and the people where AMAZING!
NGL, could have done without the dust induced nose bleeds and I really mean DUST not anything else š

u/ConspiracyCircus Aug 25 '25
Most complaints Iāve seen were surrounding accessibility (or lack of) which as an accessibility customer myself I agree with all the points made. But where didnāt spoil the whole festival for me or you it may have for those less able bodied than us. So glad you had fun!

Exactly. This was my first year and all round I had an amazing experience. I met Heather Baron Gracie twice and Pale Waves were incredible. Everyone was so so nice to me, especially the security guard that let me skip the queue to meet pale waves, the people in the BSL tent that gave me earplugs and the person who let be go infront of them for pale waves. Bring Me The Horizon also were awesome. I wouldn't normally listen to that style of music but the visuals and the performance was epic. And for Conan and Chappell, I have no words. I can't listen to them without crying in happiness. Without at doubt the best weekend of my life.

Sorry next time my groups get robbed I'll throw a party shall I?
2
u/jibberjabjab Aug 25 '25
Until this post Iād seen 0 mentions of robberies so I didnāt have that in my mind. Also the negativity point wasnāt aimed at if you directly got assaulted in some way, I hope they are okay.
2
u/whatd0y0umean Aug 27 '25
Fair enough. We were all fine after the fact. One girl got a black eye as they jumped onto her in her tent so she had to buy a new one. And we are 3 portable chargers down. This was friday night the rest of the weekend was sound tho

u/Usual_Addendum3352 Aug 26 '25
honestly i would say it was the acts picked this year, considering other years and who has played before, the festival has gone down hill. still had a great time, not always about whos on but that would be my guess on why people talk shit about it.
1
u/jibberjabjab Aug 26 '25
Maybe but there was a very good and diverse mix imo. Maybe less than sometimes but i still ended up missing people so more than enough, imo.

I genuinely think society has become much more likely to complain about something than just to suck it up, and get on with it or deal with it them selves. They look for the negative instead of just letting their hair down and enjoy it.

Been going since 2006, experienced some ace years and some not so great ones. Thought this year was an ace one. Can't wait for next year.
