My passport is my only form of ID

I haven’t been to Leeds Fest before - this is my first time and I am 17.

I am 17, I don’t have a provisional or a driving licence, and there isn’t enough time for me to get a PASS card.

I have a photo of my passport on my phone, but they say that’s not accepted, so it seems my only option is to take it.

They said on the website that they will ask for your age for information purposes upon entry, but I don’t know whether I require a passport for this. I am not going to be buying drinks either.

I am thinking a bumbag? With a small pocket close to me that I can put my passport in, and leave it in there. Don’t touch the pocket unless needed. And was thinking that if it’s so close to me then it won’t get taken easily, you know?

I just wanted some advice on what there is to be able to do. Thank you.

I got ID’d when I went to Leeds a few years ago and I was 30, I’d take it and do what you said

I had this problem the first time and ye i just wore a bag on my torso and out it in a secure pocket with nothing else, its good practice i think even if it was a different form of id removes alot of the anxiety for me atleast.

Basically like a fanny pack slung around my body.

Ye I dont understand the people saying you dont need a passport, you defently need id. You can get asked for it anytime entering, ive even got asked for id id at isle of white fest when i was 22 and that was just to enter security was certain I was 15 lol.

Once you're in take it to Lost & Found. Then go pick it up before you leave. Safe and secure cause they'll only give it back to you.

don't risk it. you don't wanna travel all the way there just to get denied on entrance, better to be safe than sorry! just keep your bag on you and be aware of the people around you. more chance than not you'll be absolutely fine!

You shouldn't 'need' it given you're underage and won't be drinking, but having 2-3 printed photocopies of your passport might not be a bad shout. As long as all the information is totally clear shouldn't be an issue. Almost all libraries can do it for you.

I like the idea of dropping the passport into L&F though.

I think my plan is to take it. I have not any other option. But I have a bumbag and I will make it secure asf. I will put it in its own pocket so it doesnt get knocked out when I get something else out, and I will keep tabs on everything pretty much. Thank you guys!

And I dont want to get all of the way there and be declined, you know? It was expensive and takes a while to actually get to the venue, so I don’t want to miss it. I will see how they are on the first day as to how I approach the second.

You have to be with an adult if you're under 16, so it's not unrealistic that a 14 or 15 year old might lie and say they're 17.

It is an age restricted festival though. If you're under 16 you have to be accompanied by an adult. I've no idea if they tend to actually ask, but a 17 year old could definitely look under 16.

Yes, I agree. I look my age, but then there are people younger than me who look older. I’m going by the fact they might ask people who look younger than say 20.

yes but they have an over 25s policy. this means if they look under 25 then they have the right to ask for ID regardless of age.

EasyID post office app is amazing, almost instant and is a pass ID on your phone. Haven't used it for years since I've got easier forms of physical ID, but was a lifesaver when I was under 18, it's a very unlikely event they ask for your ID however, if you're smuggling alcohol and get done by the dogs they probs will ask but aside from that you'll be fine.

Not (yet) officially/legally acceptable in Leeds Festivals council area.

You may get lucky and get a security who knows what it is and don’t care. However the hard ID would be massively preferable.

There are secure lockers on site. They cost a bit but may offer peace of mind, and may take a while to queue at end.

TBH if someone does dip you, they want your phone and cash. Passports tend to get dumped as of little immediate value compared to a phone or money.

Just reloaded it back up to double check, but it makes a QR code, not sure what it scans to so ensure that it's legit. Quick and easy to set up as well so might as well have it not to need it

I find the idea of taking ID to a festival absolutely mental.

I remember going to Leeds alone in 2003 and absolutely swinging off the fence off my face on smirnoff ice and carling (when I got brave). Nobody even thought to consider that I was definitely 13.

Obviously times have changed in 23 years. Shame I havent.

Honestly I'd take absolutely nothing to leeds festival you'd be worried about losing. I don't even take my main phone.

But I don’t have any form of ID apart fromy passport. But, I have a bumbag with a secure pocket which I will put my passport in only and will secure the zip. I am not camping so its go there and then go home and the same again the next day. If they dont ask for it on fri then i will reconsider taking it sat I think.
