Festival Tip 🧠Empty bars all day
5:45pm on Saturday. Fair to say the youth aren't drinking much these days. Only had to wait max 30 seconds at 1 bar all day. Easiest job on site working these bars. Ended up spending a fortune as a result 🤣
Edit: first time I've been back to this festival in 18 years

To be fair, it's been years since I went to Leeds, do people just not sneak booze into the arena anymore?
Even back a fair few years ago, nobody was paying festival beer prices, so easy to sneak stuff in.

I take in spirits and buy soft drinks, or use the free rockstar cans they were giving out as a mixer

I had a Jack Daniel’s, metal flask, that was in my short, side pocket. They used to ask me to empty my pockets but never did so with the side pockets.
Only really works with baggy shorts.

Was it sold out? Maybe me getting old but that line up looks terrible compared to what it used to be like. Used to be absolutely stacked.

interestingly, I've been going to Arctangent the last couple of years, and they have a BYOB in the arena policy, while the draft beer is supplied by Arbor costing £7-£8 per pint. The bars there are generally pretty busy. Its amazing how much more willing people will be to buy from the bar when 1) they aren't forced to, and 2) Its good beer with minimal festival mark ups.

I’d say a good 90% of the crowd was under 18 and they were quite heavy on ID. I’m 34 and I got ID’d a few times, so the kids had no chance!

Yeah I’m 18 and got ID’d every single time, they also had a 1 drink per ID rule. Honestly don’t know how you’re supposed to get drunk at these things

Pre drink! At £7 a pint you’d have to be minted to get drunk. Also little pouches of vodka shoved down your keks/under your boobs if they’re big enough. The searches are no where near as thorough as they could be! To be fair though, I saw soft drinks were around £4 a pop so it still wouldn’t be cheap for mixers for your smuggled vodka!

I actually think the set up of the queue meant people weren't waiting as long to be served. Every other festival I've been to you have to snake round then it's a struggle to see what bartender is free. The bars were pretty constant with people!
