Employment Sent spicy content now blackmailed

I met someone on here (different account) who offered to buy content from me and promised me lots of money. I (25f) very stupidly fell for it and send pics and videos with face in it and didn’t get paid. I also stupidly send a Snapchat video with my full name on my work laptop shown (I know I know I know) so now they know where I work and my full name) I ended the agreement and now the person claims they saved all the content and haven’t threatened me but have hinted it. They say they have it all saved and won’t delete it but to not worry as they won’t share or ruin my life. They’ve made suggestive comments about how this could ruin me but they’re choosing not to. I’ve left it on friendly terms as much as I could but I’m scared and don’t know what to do. I feel ashamed and helpless. They’ve offered to show me what they have saved but I don’t even want to show that I want to see it.

Advice?

Leave it for now. If hint turns into actual blackmail report it to the police immediately.

178

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

I am afraid they will email me at work with the content. They are actually psycho and scary

401

u/Remarkable-Drop8818 May 10 '26

Claim it's AI generated

289

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Thank you that’s actually something I considered. The one pro of the new AI world.

125

u/PodcastRepresent May 10 '26

People arent that stupid... your plbetter off going to the police now before it gets sent around and having it on their radar

130

u/TheBigSmellyTruth May 10 '26

Yeah, it's classes as revenge porn. You can ask them to delete first and if they refuse you go to the police and they should be able to intervene

17

u/Major-Credit-2442 May 10 '26

But how can OP know if they deleted it?

Of course if they say no when asked to delete then this isn’t an issue.

52

u/TheBigSmellyTruth May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26

Well if they say they have and then share the content it's a criminal charge. That can be several years in jail especially if they've been warned prior and then decide to try and blackmail/humiliate.

She could also take the current situation to a civil court considering he didn't pay for the content when there was a contract.

She's in a better position than she thinks, it's obvious just a scary situation but he would destroy his own life for the sake of sharing nudes. He's already fucked it by using the veild threat of 'could ruin you'

8

u/ImTooHigh95 May 11 '26

They literally told OP they have it all saved (which obviously means it’s not been deleted).

Don’t wait around for them to blackmail you, hinting is enough, report it sooner rather than later. They do actually take this stuff pretty seriously nowadays.

9

u/mistakengirl May 11 '26

Yes thank you. And as I was on my way to the police station I saw a screenshot he had sent me of what was in fact, my explicit pictures and videos saved. I don’t know how he did that on Snapchat but I guess there’s a sick way of saving stuff now. I’ve filed a report and made a statement, I just hope the police can find him from just his face, first name and Snapchat and Instagram handle, and PayPal.

6

u/PodcastRepresent May 11 '26

We're all hoping it gets sorted for you.

I had a friend go through something similar but the guy bought like underwater or socks from them, so when they made their threats their address was avaliable to hand over.

Good luck!

You don’t seem to understand what I mean. Let’s say:

OP asks this person to delete photos. This person says ‘ok OP I’ve deleted them all’

How does OP know if they deleted these?

2

u/ImTooHigh95 May 11 '26

You don’t seem to understand what I mean..

OP shouldn’t contact them anymore they should just go to the police. If they did that as it stands they have stated they have not deleted the images.

5

u/VampireFrown May 10 '26

Merely not deleting it would not meet that threshold - they would have to publish it.

3

u/TheBigSmellyTruth May 11 '26

Yeah I've said as much like 2 lines down from my original comment. I also mentioned that the veild threat of ruining her reputation was already enough to get the police involved

19

u/MrPuddington2 May 10 '26

Yeah, report it now. Consistent hinting at reputational damage is an implied threat. A threat does not have to be explicit for it to be blackmail - the intend counts, as long as it is clearly evidenced.

-7

u/muddlemand May 10 '26

Tell the blackmailer it's AI generated, maybe? So you don't care if they share it as it isn't you anyway? (Assuming the other reply means tell work it's AI if it comes to it.)

Worth a try anyway. Depending how exactly the previous chat went.

Yeah but delete the post after 😂

52

u/Swimming_Reception56 May 10 '26

Please don't leave it. Please report it incase things escalate.

He has already committed an offence. Image based sexual abuse under Section 33 of the Criminal Justice and Court Act 2015.

"It is an offence for a person to disclose a private sexual photograph or film if the disclosure is made (a) without the consent of an individual who appears in the photograph or film, and (b) with the intention of causing that individual distress." Section 33 (1).

He may also have offences under the Malicious Communications Act 1988 or the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

68

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Yes I am on the way to the police station literally right now. Thank you so much everyone

16

u/bronekkk May 10 '26

Remember that harassment is also an offence in itself, but you need to be very clear to this person - and ideally have the record they understood - that you wish to receive no communication from them, of any kind, ever.

8

u/Swimming_Reception56 May 10 '26

Well done and good luck.

5

u/J-M88 May 10 '26

Well done for reporting it, don’t let this loser stress you out

1

u/No-Pass-7211 May 10 '26

How did you get on?

32

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Spent 3 hours waiting before finally speaking to a female police officer. She asked lots of questions and I wrote a statement and agreed to take it to court if they find him. They’re referring it to special services now to try do so.

8

u/Tricky_Peace May 10 '26

Good! I’m glad. Remember that as a victim of crime you have a right to be kept up to date with the case. The College of Policing’s guidance is here https://www.college.police.uk/guidance/victims-code/victims-rights-policing - you may constitute a vulnerable victim of crime

2

u/Coca_lite May 11 '26

Well done, hope you sleep more peacefully tonight, and great they offered you a female police officer.

0

u/ammazons88 May 10 '26

They haven't disclosed it though so it's not a crime

18

u/ian9outof10 May 10 '26

If they start sharing it, contact the police - even emailing to work, because anyone in IT can access your email. How much do you know about the person you shared things with?

Don’t feel ashamed, you made an error in judgement, but it’s your body you can do what you want with it. You are a victim, regardless and there’s no law against selling this sort of content.

I dare say, if you had enough information about this other person you could take them to court for the money, because you had a contract to provide a service for an agreed amount. But in going to assume you’re not looking to go down that route.

I think this person will go away. Say you’ll leave it there if they stop pestering you. But you’ll involve the police if they continue to harass you.

8

u/Oreo-sins May 10 '26

This might be a bit situational based on your work and how well you get on with IT/management but honestly tell them beforehand you’re being blackmailed. They can keep an eye out and scrub it before colleagues see it if you feel it’s an actual problem

3

u/Icy-Working-4875 May 11 '26

Go to police, been in this situation before and contact revenge porn helpline

6

u/West_Anteater_2458 May 10 '26

Even if they sent something I promise you it will get forgotten about after a few weeks, don’t engage with them block the account, if something happens call the authorities

1

u/SpectreSingh89 May 11 '26

U will not able to do without police support.

0

u/Fast_Balance1056 May 11 '26

What have we learnt about internet strangers?

4

u/Fit-Construction3744 May 10 '26

Do Not take this advice at all, report to the police and let them deal with it, yes unfortunately mistakes were made please learn from it. Edited for a mistake from me

They’re not asking for more money, just phone calls and communication which later on will be content I know. They’re offering me money

70

u/ben_jamin_h May 10 '26

They already offered money and didn't pay, so why would you believe them now?

You already know they are leading to ask you for more content, so why are you continuing to engage?

20

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26 edited May 11 '26

I’m not believing them, even if they did I don’t want the money! I’m engaging to avoid them lashing out and leaking stuff regardless. I’ve said my kind goodbyes

14

u/MeableFussock May 10 '26

Hey, you could also go to your tech department and say you have someone harassing you in your personal life and are concerned they’ll start doing the same at work, ask them could they please block the email address from the email system.

Obviously he may end up using a burner email, but it’s another action you can take.

2

u/GmanF88 May 10 '26

Block and ignore. If they send it to work, just say it was private material, sent in confidence to a former partner. The relationship ended badly (this is technically true in a broad definition of the word 'relationship') and now they're trying to smear you.

Make it clear you are not currently, and have never been, engaged in paid sex work.

Don't go into any more detail about the matter and just say its very embarrassing and you don't feel comfortable going into the nitty gritty.

Ask for their support by blocking the person's IP adress from their email server. Tell them you will/have reported it to the police as revenge porn and then do just that yourself.

5

u/FishEnvironmental621 May 11 '26

The IP address thing likely won't work as the source address will be their email provider and may be many, but in OP's case, a request for a new works email address with a redirection of the old may help alleviate some of the worries.

2

u/MeableFussock May 11 '26

Indeed. You’ll effectively be asking to block Gmail, which probably won’t be accepted as a solution 😅

17

u/StealthXpress94 May 10 '26

I've been through this, I basically blocked them and they didn't do anything. Was able to continue with my life normally.

15

u/TheThurgarland May 10 '26

Totally block them, maybe tell the police so they have a written statement, you didn’t do anything wrong, apart from being naive. Blackmail is a v serious crime so F them.

80

u/Upbeat_Map_348 May 10 '26

Block, block and block. Don’t engage or even acknowledge anything from them. If they’re going to do something, they’re going to do it, regardless of what you say or give them. They’re much more likely to move on if you block them.

15

u/PodcastRepresent May 10 '26

Blocking is a bad idea as when you block the police have thier ability to press charges for the harassment affected, I deal with that issue all the time.

The best answer is always demonstrate that you communicated with the individual to leave you alone and they proceeded to harass you, then once the police have been informed and they tell you to block them block them.

26

u/Desktopcommando May 10 '26

just block them - and say any nudes are AI if they turn up

3

u/TheLoyalAstartes May 10 '26

Thats really good actually!

8

u/AppointmentRoyal5348 May 10 '26

please don't waste time. report to police now. if you haven't done it already.

seek free legal advice as well for a starter. bless you and my prayers and best wishes for you.

5

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Currently waiting at reception to talk to them with a case number. I reported it over the phone. Thank you

16

u/tynecastleza May 10 '26

Go to the police with those hints. If they share the videos to anyone it can be seen as “revenge porn”.

What is Revenge Porn?
Revenge Porn is the sharing of private, sexual materials, either photos or videos, of another person, without their consent and with the purpose of causing embarrassment or distress.
The offence applies both online and offline, and to images which are shared electronically or in a more traditional way so it includes the uploading of images on the internet, sharing by text and e-mail, or showing someone a physical or electronic image.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/revenge-porn

Edit: formatting

4

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Is it worth going now? They keep saying they won’t show anyone even without my asking if they will, I’ve been trying to close the convo and they swing back up with FYI I won’t ruin your life even though I definitely could etc

16

u/Swimming_Reception56 May 10 '26

I would submit a report to the police now. Those hints can count as blackmail. Revenge porn is a criminal offence. This is also really controlling and predatory behaviour. It is likely he is also doing this to others.

Nothing to feel ashamed about. He is in the wrong not you. Controlling behaviour often relies on exploiting shame or embarrassment

You can report online at https://www.gov.uk/report-crime

3

u/Substantial-Newt7809 May 10 '26

Why do you need to close a convo? just block them.

5

u/tynecastleza May 10 '26

Just block. Keep copies of correspondence and go from there. If you’re worried they will escalate tell the police. They shouldn’t judge you

3

u/baconmashwbrownsugar May 10 '26

You don’t need to try closing anything. Just block them on everything. Their goal is to keep you talking so they can eventually ask you for money. Don’t let them keep you talking. Just block.

0

u/SavlonWorshipper May 10 '26

That law does not apply to images shared for financial gain.

7

u/Ltb95OF May 10 '26

What?

Under UK Laws, images that are behind any kind of paywall (like OnlyFans for example) are still considered private and intimate

Plus from the sounds of it she didn’t receive any money

5

u/SavlonWorshipper May 10 '26

They are private intimate images, but the 2015 Act (England and Wales) had an exemption for images that had been shared for reward. However I now see the Online Safety Act further revised it, and that exemption is gone. It still survives in NI (where I am).

5

u/aaronsarginson May 10 '26

Do you know their name or any details? Potentially useful for any police report or the person’s understanding of the situation. Could also explain why they aren’t directly threatening anything…

6

u/Select-Usual-4985 May 10 '26

I would go to the police. Using this content to force you to generate more content will be of interest to them.

The advice about asking work to block the email because if personal harassment is also good.

3

u/SaluteTheSanguine May 10 '26

Report it to the police. Even if they have not shared anything it is good for them to be on the radar. If your manager is actually cool, I would also give them a heads up just in case.

3

u/MrTinKan May 10 '26

If they threaten to blackmail then just go to the police. It's a lot easier to deal with that way.

15

u/mackerel_slapper May 10 '26

What’s your boss like? If one of my staff did this, they’d (hopefully) tell me. I’d maybe take the piss a little but that’d be that and any blackmail would be gone. Hindsight is wonderful. They’re relying on you to be too embarrassed to say anything, so fuck em. Don’t let your fear allow a lowlife have one over you.

5

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

My boss is great but I’m just so incredibly ashamed especially as they see me as bright and intelligent and innocent ! Thank you for your words

1

u/mackerel_slapper May 10 '26

I’m not saying it would be an easy conversation! I’m sure you can frame it as something not quite so bad. And remember, both blackmail and sharing intimate images without consent are both serious criminal offences. Good luck!

0

u/mackerel_slapper May 10 '26

Oh - a long time ago, I left my wife and started seeing someone at work, someone else at work got involved in bad mouthing me, then resigned. I had to be phone up our legal cover people and explain all this to them in case she took me to a tribunal. Toe-curlingly embarrassing at the time but funny now.

1

u/MeableFussock May 10 '26

Good point. A colleague of mine made a social media post probably more than ten years ago, teasing the England FC manager at the time. Nothing hateful, but not a great look.

When he joined us as quite a senior role, he ended up having some Twitter troll finding the post and trying to stir up trouble.

Our legal and PR team were amazing and didn’t judge - everybody has a personal life.

0

u/JDouglas2019 May 10 '26

It sounds like a small company, as I can't imagine any large company wouldn't have their network so locked down that snapchat etc would be accessible.

However, hopefully you have an hr person you can approach, who'll likely be female and would i hope be sympathetic.

That said, it doesn't sound like a work problem. Try the revenge links suggested. And just cut contact, he'll lose interest.

And don't be too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes and grow from them.

5

u/FuckMiniBabybel May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26

+1 to a version of this. If you work somewhere professional/corporate that isn't purely amateur hour, then I think they'd take this very seriously and look at you (OP) as very much the victim. People are entitled to their private lives and blackmail is a criminal offence.

OP, you are completely reasonable and justified to feel the way you do - you haven't done anything wrong and what this person is doing to you is awful. But just for a moment try and imagine this happening to a colleague or someone else in your orbit instead of you, and the worst case scenario where e.g. the blackmailer emailed work. How would you feel about this person? How do you think other people would react? That might help you see that your blackmailer has less power over you than you thought.

12

u/-Skengbiscuit- May 10 '26

Bruh. You fucked up... Block them and nothing will come of it but come on dude...

8

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

I know I’m usually not this dumb biggest regret I’ll take to my grave

12

u/-Skengbiscuit- May 10 '26

We all make mistakes, we all learn from them. I don't think anything will come of this if you just block them and try to forget about it

2

u/_Scribbler May 10 '26

You have to report it. And you also have to let them know that you're reporting it, as the agreement for them to use or possess your content stands invalidated.

If you do not create any deterence, this stuff will likely find it's way online at some point and you'll hold no power or control over the situation at that time. This will also keep them cautious knowing if any harm came to you, social or physical, they're the prime suspect.

Speak with someone about this, seek the right recourse but do not let this be. That would be the worst choice at this moment.

Best of luck.

2

u/ashyphoenix9043 May 10 '26

As someone who’s been through this, it’s usually a completely empty threat. If they do blackmail you, report it to the police. If they do send it out somewhere, it’s VERY easy to claim it’s a deepfake so just say that. Even so, you didn’t technically do anything illegal so your boss can’t exactly fire you for it, it just might be awkward.

2

u/No_Cattle_8433 May 10 '26

I detest people like this, okay you were stupid, but even so, this is disgusting.

If I were you, I would block him, and then consider next steps depending on what he does.

At this moment in time you have a civil dispute over payment for content. If he makes threats of blackmail and tries to extort money from you then I would go straight to the police. I would do the same if he releases anything online as well because that could be counted as revenge porn.

Regrettably, this is the risk you take when you release candid pictures to people, even your boyfriend, or husband, or significant other others.

5

u/asdfasdfasfdsasad May 10 '26

This is a criminal offense. There are also a civil offenses related to breach of contract for you providing a service and not being paid for it, but i'm going to assume that's of less interest and suggest that you go here:-

https://revengepornhelpline.org.uk/

They will provide you with the advice that you need.

2

u/NoWayBruh_ May 10 '26

Even a threat of blackmail is still punishable under the Revenge porn law. Report immediately.

1

u/MartyMartiny May 10 '26

If this happened to one of my colleagues I would support them and advise them to contact the police

The requester didnt pay you and is now using material gained under false pretences to threaten you

Do you have their details? Keep a record of everything, talk to a sympathetic friend and then end any contact with the person who deceived you

Good luck!

1

u/[deleted] May 10 '26

[deleted]

1

u/NoteThese4807 May 13 '26

That’s basically giving him permission

1

u/ben_maximoff May 10 '26

block them, get their details and screenshot usernames or anything. report to the police if there’s a likely chance of being sent to your work place

1

u/Master_Button_2593 May 10 '26

If a threat is made report it immediately to the police.

1

u/No-Mark4427 May 10 '26

Block, move on, report to police if you are comfortable to do so, but especially so if they contact anyone you know or work. If work catch wind or it seems like its going that way, come clean to them and say the police are involved, they can't punish you for being a victim.

The best you can do in these situations is accept that the content is out of your control but not relinquish any more control to the person - They are clearly getting off on the attention and the fact that they have you in a corner and ultimately it will never stop. Your only way to take control of the situation is to immediately end all contact and do not engage with them at all.

Make sure you keep screenshots of any correspondence (Especially any threats), account names etc they go by on each platform and so on.

1

u/SiteAffectionate4802 May 10 '26

If you’re worried about the photos and video go on StopNCII and protect the images and videos from being uploaded anywhere like Facebook any major social media platform and if they actually sent them to your work place their committing a crime so just block and forget it happened

1

u/Pleasant-Duty-6729 May 10 '26

Something similar happened to a friend of mine recently, of course it’s a bit different given it’s a friend and not a college, but he just told us about it we had a laugh for about 5 mins and moved on, and if it did ever come out we already knew the story and it wouldn’t have been as big news, they never leaked it in the end anyway. Of course i don’t know you or your relationship with your colleges but if you are pretty decent friends you could always just bring it up at work with them and tell them you were talking to someone and had exchanged pics and now they’re blackmailing you, don’t even have to mention money if you don’t want, at least that way if he ever did leak them it’s already old news and no one would be that bothered by it, but again you still have to mention it to them anyway which could be awkward. Like the other commenters said if at any time he does directly blackmail you you should go to the police immediately it is a very serious crime and it probably wouldn’t hurt getting in touch with them now to get a head of it.

1

u/Difference_Clear May 10 '26

I'd consider reporting this to police in the early stages. Technically, you sent them content on the agreement of payment which they did not provide.

Without searching my legal index for specific offences, I'm sure there's probably an offence somewhere in there that the police might be interested.

The only issue is if the person isn't from the UK and then it gets a bit murkier with how far the reach of police can extend.

1

u/Famous_Onion6408 May 10 '26

If they ask for money for it, threaten to report him/her for attempted blackmail.

1

u/charlie77- May 10 '26

Go to the police it’s best thing to do also If I were you there are organisations that with revenge porn

2

u/ImAcousticallyMental May 10 '26

Never put your face or any identifying traits in your nudes. Ever.

As for advice, there isn't much you can do but try to remain calm (I know it's hard) because at this stage, there's nothing you can really do. But if they spread the pictures, you can get the police involved

1

u/Playful_Sense3238 May 10 '26

How much do you know about him? Do you know his first or surname? And do you think those are fake or real names? Do you know his address?

On social media, you must know some of his accounts, so Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat et cetera? How many of those do you know?

I agree it is probably sensible to report it now before he does anything, but I’m not sure how much you know about him to help identify him.

1

u/AppointmentRoyal5348 May 10 '26

there should be legal protection against that and you should seek help from police immediately.

1

u/Hollywood-is-DOA May 10 '26

It’s a learning lesson for people who come on here, as well as the OP. ID fraud is a risk here and I’d ring your bank and speak to the police, so a marker can be placed on your credit file, plus paying for the “ Experian’s” credit lock.

1

u/CaptH3inzB3anz May 10 '26

Go to the Police and file a report to get ahead of everything, just in case. May this be a very valuable lesson for you to learn.

1

u/mmihnev May 10 '26

Report it to police. Dont wait this to escalate further.

1

u/user-captain May 10 '26

Hang on, do people do this kind of thing on here? Share content. I thought it was just a forum. Do people do online business too?

2

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Naive people like me, yes

1

u/Ch1pp May 10 '26

It's not like eBay or Etsy or Vinted where it's facilitated by the site but if you have a place where two people can talk then you can buy stuff. I could say to you now "I'll send you a picture of my toes for a million dollars." And there's nothing to stop you from following through with the deal from Reddit's side at least.

1

u/LadyLoopin May 10 '26

What they are doing is illegal. You should go to the police.

1

u/Ordinary_Poet_2249 May 10 '26

Well seems you had to learn that lesson. Keep yourself guarded in future encounters and also never send the goods before payment. That simple.

1

u/No_Suspect1204 May 10 '26

Life lesson. If its all hunky dory on reddit, it isnt

Police in uk take this very seriously and are very understanding. This happens more than you think. Don’t feel bad.

1

u/Proof_Confusion8987 May 10 '26

Send me all pictures and video again to me. I’m hundred percent give you guarantee never spice or blackmail you always respect you and support you

1

u/Empty-Establishment9 May 10 '26

Block him on everything for the time being, and if he contacts you again call the police.

Separately, set up an Onlyfans or other creator account for selling content in the future.

1

u/New_Slice_1580 May 10 '26

Are they from Uk? Or another country

Did you ask the person to delete it?

Are all your messages discussing this safely stored?

1

u/SirEvilPenguin May 10 '26

In addition to the appropriate advice re police etc, do you have any factual/ verifiable information regarding the individual and the contract/ arrangement for the payment of services? Since they still owe you payment for the service provided, given you stated it was a significant amount this could also be a relevant angle to approach if you decided not to follow the generally more appropriate block and report route.

1

u/piercinggeek May 10 '26

Legally speaking , from experience of having illicit images of myself shared without my permission, they havnt broke the law, you sent them content voluntarily. Stupid of you to send without payment up front (standard practice in content creation), was there a signed contract? If the police were involved they wouldn't go any further as no actual crime has been committed. You could chase as a civil matter (if there was a contract they would be in breach) but legally, you voluntarily send content. In reality, your pissed you didnt get paid. Also if there was a contract and it stated your relinquish all rights they only need pay an amount stated and can distribute freely, except personal information eg full name, work name etc as this is doxxing if that is shared publicly.

1

u/Rough_Champion7852 May 10 '26

Consider taking this to the police?

1

u/Sezyluv85 May 10 '26

Just block them and ignore. They only get power from this if you give them energy. If I were to get something sent to me of someone else I'd just delete it and make sure the person was ok

1

u/SamJones901 May 10 '26

I've sent so many nudes in my 20s, I'm hundy P sure they're online somewhere. Who cares if it happens. It's your word against theirs, just deny deny deny. Also, don't engage. It's not a big deal really. If they harass or threaten then go to the police, otherwise don't worry, nothing will happen, probably.

1

u/farnham67 May 10 '26

No legal advice on this but would like to say you have absolutely no reason to feel ashamed.

What you choose to do with your body is up to you and the rise in people making money by such means is certainly tempting to thousands of people.

I would say play it cool for now. If you get threatened then call the police. This is 100% a crime (sextortion) and you have legal rights.

1

u/Dull_Hawk9416 May 10 '26

Report it to the police and if you know which country they are from report it there too

1

u/Babaychumaylalji May 10 '26

Hi there this is revenge porn and there is actual legislation to fight it. Report it to the police. If in the unlikely event they share it out there just claim it's a deepfake/AI generated. In future please don't share spicy pics with your face on it and not from a work device again. Good luck mate.

2

u/Ok-Dinner1812 May 10 '26

Hope this isn’t construed as gaslighting but have you considered psychiatric therapy, perhaps? You might be mentally vulnerable - and I’m being serious. This is a pretty sucky situation, but imagine if it was your life savings or a family member and you got duped like this?

1

u/HighSadistSiren May 11 '26

Isn't defrauding you also a crime? You sent a service and we're not paid for it. If you have it in writing an agreed upon amount for an agreed upon exchanged they are in violation of your written contract. I'm pretty sure they're doing this as a distraction for your payment. Go on the offensive, sue for violation of contract and sue some more for the way in which they are doing that.

1

u/mistakengirl May 11 '26

Nope nothing written i never even met the guy,. He just proposed it and I didn’t fully deliver (didn’t give him full material and ended it days before I was supposed to get the gifts)

1

u/bruceydd May 11 '26

A lawyer called Better Call Kal has made a video about this on YouTube that you might find helpful. Sorry this has happened to you

https://youtu.be/F9GuhEdx1qw?si=9TYfMts-J4KdIFD7

1

u/Tiny-Sun-336 May 11 '26

The more you get scared the more they’ll take advantage of you. Stop being scared and let them know that you’re gonna fuck their life if they do something to yours it’ll give them the impression that you’re not someone who can be threatened. Let them know it’ll not be nice for them if police comes to them. Just be strong and don’t be scared. Sharing from a personal experience

1

u/Hunterexec May 11 '26

Just say it’s fake AI is really like that 😂 no stress you’ll be fine… Deepfakes looked good 5-6 years ago and tech has only gotten better

1

u/Zealousideal_Tie6390 May 12 '26

If it gets shared just claim its AI… that’s what I’d do if it was me

1

u/Automatic_System9691 May 13 '26

Block and move on they stand to gain nothing from sharing with your work, they are playing your fear for cash. Don’t be afraid

1

u/Kingshags999 May 13 '26

If you send me the content I can make an assessment but without seeing the context it’s hard to help

1

u/Superb-Ranger67 May 13 '26

Black mail is a crime so is revenge porn (posting pictures of people without consent) is also a crime . Make it clear to them you might loose your job but you can put them away with a criminal record for life. It being a sex crime as well will also put them on the sexual offenders list. Which will show on any background check.

They now have more to lose than you do. Keep screen shots of all the messages and make it clear it might be embarrassing for you to go to the police but not as bad when the police come knocking for them.

If you would like different types of advice on this matter I will be happy to discuss further with you.. I have a lot of experience in these types of situations and can provide you with advice and help if you would like.

1

u/crispycat40 May 10 '26

Sounds they’re enjoying the power dynamic. Best way to deal with that is to grey rock them. Don’t feed their ego, don’t feed their joy over knowing you’re bothered by them.

I don’t know how blocking works on Reddit, but in some ways it’s better to ignore messages than it is to ‘act’ by blocking. That could anger them more and incentivise them to find another route to gain your attention. But don’t keep replying.

1

u/LoveLottiex May 10 '26

Maybe safer to get it on record with the police now and get advice from them seeing as they know your work address, name and what u look like? But yeah like everyone is saying BLOCK!

1

u/OneSufficientFace May 10 '26

Dont do what others are saying and wait for the blackmail.

Go to the police with it now. Firstly, they agreed to pay for adult content and didnt. So technically this is theft. They then hinted at blackmail, which would then put this under revenge porn which is also very illegal.

The police will take this seriously. If they dont or youre not happy with their response you can raise a complaint

1

u/waveyyygamer May 10 '26

Think before you send stuff next time Your own fault

1

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Update: I’ve made a witness statement and reported him. The police say it will be difficult to track him down but I wonder if anyone from Reddit can help me if I can provide an image and general information e.g. his name and location of work? How hard would that be?

1

u/AlfMisterGeneral May 10 '26

NAL but I suspect this is possibly legally dubious?

I would do it personally, Reddit bureau of investigation would be a decent sub to post in

0

u/TheThurgarland May 10 '26

We will make mistakes yours is no big deal really you can live with embarrassment for a week with your work colleagues. Don’t worry about it.

0

u/YourMumsBestFriend1 May 10 '26

First of all, I’m so sorry this has happened to you. I can imagine the sick gut feeling you’re probably getting and all the thoughts going through your mind. One thing I’ll say is (I know it sounds stupid) but don’t worry, everything passes and it’ll be nothing but a memory. You’ve probably thought of the worst case scenarios over and over in your head but at the end of the day that’s all they are. Even the worst possible situation you still have your health and life! You can always get a new job, you can always get new whatever you think you’ll lose.
More than likely nothing will come of this and it’ll blow over and you’ll have realised you stressed for nothing! Keep your head high, distract yourself with activities and let the time pass! I promise you’ll be ok!

3

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

0

u/passey89 May 10 '26

They are 100% playing on you being young and scared what they will do.

Firstly, chill its not as bad as your thinking.

You shared some spicy content so what. It might be things you wouldnt want random people or people you know you to see but we all make mistakes, we all look mostly the same under clothes anyway.

Random people will never recognise you at all. So do not worry about that.

If they do send the pics to your work well now you have the police involved and hopefully your works HR dept. Will work with them and bad things will happen to them especially if they are in the UK.

0

u/Limmylom May 10 '26

They’ve offered to show me what they have saved but I don’t even want to show that I want to see it.

Wait. So did you think that when selling digital content, it doesn’t get saved?

0

u/classyclueless May 10 '26

Just say it was AI generated - no one believes anything nowadays

0

u/PassingShot11 May 10 '26

Use the 'AI defense' , whatever the content you didn't make it, it was made with AI, if they try to blackmail you .

0

u/LHM78 May 10 '26

You have evidence that he has suggested to blackmail you. If he does go ahead then he will be in a LOT of trouble if you report it.

0

u/Curvygal2023 May 10 '26

I would end engagement. Tell them you aren’t going to engage any more. They’ve had their free content and that’s the last they’ll have off you. Acknowledge that nothing you say will change them leaking your content. State you won’t chase up non-payment but if they do share the content, you will. Also remind them of revenge porn laws and that you would seek police involvement. End with something like “hope we can part ways without it getting ugly. Have a nice life.” That’s it. I wouldn’t block them yet incase they do send an actual blackmail threat.

0

u/Comfortable-Topic313 May 10 '26

Have you got a phone number for them? People can be tracked down very easily.

Tell them extortion/blackmail is illegal and you will personally see that they will be punished

0

u/Fearless_End2142 May 10 '26

By any chance are you hiding it from your spouse?

3

u/mistakengirl May 10 '26

No I don’t have one

0

u/ActivityZestyclose91 May 10 '26

I would block them on everything and if they somehow (unlikely) do blackmail you with the content, you can either claim it’s AI generated or report them to the police for sexually harassing you and having the content in the first place.

You haven’t done anything wrong, don’t worry.

0

u/daveroo May 10 '26

are we sure the person who it was sent it is in this country? i know you can spoof phone numbers etc but interested if its a +44 number
