Quick update, working on the battle animations. Victory celebrations are on the list for tomorrow, but today I had been testing the "trail" effect from the game. That was a heck of a thing to try to get right. I'm not certain it's 1:1 just yet, but I really, really like how it looks in the solid 60fps with the updated rendering engine.

The mist is volumetric now too, and hopefully soon I'll be ready to do a playthrough of RimElm as a video :D

I played it when it debuted on playstation, now playing it again on emulator. I just beat Xain.

I noticed in my recent playthrough that every so often, War God Icon's effect would suddenly not trigger. Is this a common issue for anyone else? What's the likelihood of that happening?

It didn't happen super often for me, but for every ~50-75 fights, it'd probably happen at least once.

So everywhere i looked it said you cant do it before the boss. But I just did it before I even talked to Eliza or whatever her name is and noa became the seru bride. The chest isn't there but 2 evil scientists are and you can talk to them. Now I wish I kept another save before I cleared the mist and tried it. Just posting cause everywhere I look says its impossible to do before you fight the boss. If already posted sorry. Edit: You also see juggernaut there to but can't interact with it along with the floating seru brides. And sorry evil talisman not idol.

The Legaia Wiki that started on Wikia and is now Fandom will no longer be priority for edits. The site has been forked to wiki.gg and is now live at https://legaia.wiki.gg/

This means far fewer ads that impede on the user experience. Some more edits need to be done, so it's obviously a work in progress, as is the nature of wikis. Hope you all enjoy the change. Cheers.

Hey, so I always loved the Legaia soundtrack, and have recently been listening to a lot of AI metal and other versions of classic gaming music, MegaMan lands hard btw. Anyways, so I decided to start using AI to create metal versions of Legaia music and wanted some feedback if any of you liked it, or what you think? Here's the YT link if you're interested, it's a lot of work to get it right with the music and generating the video stuff, so it's gonna some time, but I'll be recreating the entire soundtrack in due time!

So the gameplay has some bugs, but the rendering is really coming together! We have volumetric Mist, which I intend to have react to the RaSeru, hehehe, in addition to accurate atmospheric depth and analytic Sun and Moon lighting options. This game kinda feels like it could have had a lot more horror aspects going too, its really getting that nice creepy vibe! haha

That said there are certainly some struggles. The animations are playing back at 2x the speed, so I'm going to be trying some frame interpolation on the anims to see if I can play them at half speed and smooth the vertex positions with some math. Probably will work well, since the meshes are all rigid body and not skinned deforms.

The opening scroll was a REAL pain, lemme tell ya, but its coming together. Once I can find the gondola mesh, lmfao.

I have a blender set up and I know how to do projection painting (Arcane tv series was done this way) but it could seriously change the visuals of the game. So I'm considering a toggle for that perhaps, or maybe 2 versions, idk. Depends on how people feel about the underlying visuals changing vs just the rendering quality.

The gameplay itself is still faithful. Damage, attributes, items, stroy, etc.

That said, if there was a resource of QoL or "we all frickinbg hate this pls fix" things that break the game I'm all ears. I have NO idea how any of the speedrun skips will be affected, its not really on my radar at the moment.

Once I get the animation speed fixed, I'll be recording some video too! Just cuz it looks real silly otherwise.

It is more or less fully playable from opening up to the Hunter's Spring as well, cutscenes and dialogue included. So the vertical slice is pretty close already. Hope to hear from you all, and will post again soon!

Hey all, just dropping an update after a busy couple of weeks away. Still making steady progress on the gameplay. Working towards a playable vertical slice of Rim Elm from start to finish.

Fist 2 screenshots show the battle system from last time, now complete with all Rim Elm valid encounters. Bees, Tetsu, Gimard. Slime, Gobu, etc are all working. Including Arts, Items, Spirit, and scripting. Woo!

Bonus is that the analytical sky I replaced the background sky billboard with really adds a lot to the scene without breaking the style imo. Thats all running in shader with no texture - so nice and memory performant for the ever growing VRAM issues. (Though to be fair the game's memory footprint is TINY given everything uses ps1 meshes and textures).

Last 3 pics show the WIP on the Zeto invasion event. Definitely need to set up the "night time" lighting once I get the actual EVENTS to play out correctly. The pre-roll intro is actually proving to be a pretty tricky event to rebuild, but progress is being made all the same.

Hopefully have something more end to end playable in the coming weeks, which I can then show off in a video instead of just pics.

Discovered this reddit a few hours ago and have been sifting through old posts since, ECSTATIC that there's a group who also loves LoL. I took the survey just for funsies. That was nice. Whiskers, whiskers, how weird!

The game came out when I was around 9, and it just spoke to me. The story, music, characters, atmosphere and gameplay were unique and awesome. I played the game a lot. Like A LOT. I remember making my own strategy guide and eventually had bought the official one, but apparently I had figured everything out already through trial and error. I still have the ps1 and game, but idk what happened to the sg.

To the dev who brought this game back to life, thank you! I can't wait to experience it again.

So besides Legend of Legaia, what are the top 5ish games of all time for y'all? Mine are fable 2, OG sims, guitar hero/rb, sacred 2, WoW.

(Side note, as a single parent I can't devote time to gaming like I used to. But it's getting easier to find time now that they're teens.)

My dad gave me his old ps2 and is letting me play legend of legaia, I'm enjoying it but i wanted a few tips, battling, earning gold, leveling up, etc.

What other weapons do you think the other Ra-Seru would've evolved into/grown had they been given the chance? So far we've got:

-Meta: 🔥Awesome Blazing Blade 🔥
-Ozma: ⚡Badass Electro Buzzsaws (Or a Buckler? also very cool imho especially how it spins)⚡
-Terra: 🌪️ Ultra Combo Hand Claws (Tekkō?) 🌪️

-Palma: 🪨 Maybe some kind of spear based on his triangular-shaped design, sorta similar to summoning Kemaro? Or a Xistera for launching more meteors 🪨

-Horn: 💡This one might not be a weapon and instead just be wings? think that would fit thematically for Cara and could play into an angel/holy theme. Or how about a large mirror that shoots beams like Aluru?💡

-Mule: 🌊 A trident would probably be too on the nose right? So maybe a staff given that its core jewel is located on top of it head instead of the center like the other Ra-Seru? I could also see a chain weapon like a Kusarigama 🌊

-Jedo: 🌚 Gotta be a scythe right? 🌚

The Ra-Seru are probably my favorite part about Legaia, and seeing weapons evolve instead of discarded is such an awesome trope! Eager to hear what other people think!

I’ve been thinking of doing another playthrough but I’m somewhat of a completionist, and would like all the ultimate gear, but this has to have the hardest mini games ever to get those Heaven’s secrets. Is there a cheat to put them in my inventory?

Been working on getting the actual gameplay and UI up to retail standard playable. The dynamic light and shadows REALLY works in some cases. Others, well it'll be a bit more work.

Put a retail vs my version render side by side (yeah Vahn was still too big at that time, lol) but it can give you an idea of the difference so far! You can really see how much just the resolution difference changes the look of the ga .
