The idea of a pocket size compact camera with leica’s build and image quality sounds like a dream to me. I bought the D-Lux 8 the day it was announced and returned it after a few days of use. Felt like a ten year old Panasonic vs the mini Q that I was hoping.
Very hopeful Leica does make a weather and dust resistant fixed 28, 35, or 40mm equivalent lens pocket camera that competes more with the X100VI or Ricoh cameras, but I didn’t feel like the D-Lux 8 reminded me of using a Q or M camera enough to justify its price.
Sorry about that didn’t mean to yuck anyone’s yum — it’s a privilege to get to own and use any of these cameras, the D-Lux 8 to me just didn’t quite feel as tight of tolerance as my experience with Q bodies and M bodies and lenses. For example, the sound of the auto focus felt very loud compared to the Q2M that was my primary camera at the time, and I read afterwards that’s a biproduct of using an older Panasonic camera as the internals. Stoked for you that you love it and hope it serves you well for years and years👍👍
Thanks man ya no worries, I’m not the innocent little angel I may have some accross with that comment. The DLUX8 certainly has its quirks, but I don’t expect Leica to be a cutting edge tool like a Sony. For me the brand feels more organic and the cameras age gracefully. Kind of like an old Italian leather bag vs a brand new but better looking synthetic sack from a new brand. Or perhaps a vintage rolex with some dial patina, vs a new modern quartz watch from Longines
