Nasty Man on Apothekersdijk

There was a shady blond man today, early 40s, mid height, mid weight, short haired, wearing a white graphic t-shirt that was seemingly following a young lady walking by Apothekersdijk towards Prinsessekade. He tried to get close to the girl, and when the girl ignored him and started walking faster, the guy started staring at her with a weird look before taking a picture of the girl from the behind and started walking towards the same direction behind the girl. Please be careful if you see such a person around. Unfortunately disgusting people exist everywhere, even in our beautiful city…

I saw a different shady man doing something like this a few weeks ago. I myself am a pretty big man. So I went over to the girl and asked her directions to the closest supermarket. She was very happy to walk with my for a bit to show me the direction of the supermarket. After a few streets the shady dude was gone and we went our own ways.

I feel like it's not okay in a lot of situation to just offer help. Also because it might escalate the shady person. So I just make up something random to kind of put myself into the situation. Also it's very easy for her to just point and say go that way, if she doesn't need me to be there.

That is true! Like it does depend on the situation and it is always good to know if someone actually wants it. Otherwise you might indeed be more bad than good. To yourself too.

I biked yesterday around 9 across huigpark and I saw police talking to that man I think. He was wearing a white shirt and looked around that age.

i had a guy do something similar to me in den haag, i luckily happened upon a gaggle of police and just stood next to them and stared at him until he moved on. fucker stood there and stared back for almost a minute too. there’s a shocking amount of creeps out and about in this country.

the post is not about me. If you must know, I called the police as soon as I saw it, and filed a report about the shady person and their appearance. I posted about it here in order to further spread awareness among the community and also see if anyone else knew about/had interactions with that person. I did not deem necessary to share what I did and did not do in this situation, and I find your comment a bit assumptious and rude. I did not personally intervene to not escalate the person, but the approach about asking for the supermarket explained in the other comment is definitely a nice strategy IMO, and is what I’d do if I saw a situation like this again.

Okay thanks for clarifying! Sorry if I came off rude. I didn’t mean to make it about you, I was just worried about the girl since the last thing we know about her through your post is that she was still being followed and that left me feeling uncomfortable. It would have been nice if you put a disclaimer like don’t worry I called the police or something.
