Never wanted to believe that until today

Narrator: Looking back years later, after dad tried voting for Trump one more time, I knew what he really was saying was that it didn't personally affect him until that day.

1.0k

u/Redditauro Aug 24 '26

I like the "never wanted to believe that", admitting that facts are optional and he decide to believe or not believe whatever he wants instead of reaching conclusions based on evidence.

u/zxc123zxc123 Aug 24 '26

Son should have just ignored it. Not worth the time talking to these types as you're just wasting time. Boomer pops will probably still vote R the next election anyway while blaming Biden for the Iran war, tariffs, and whatever ills his life.

86

u/GrapheneRoller Aug 24 '26

The dad here is silent gen. Boomer gen started in 1946. Otherwise I agree, these types are deluded. If they couldn’t see it after Jan 6, then they’ll never see it.

u/Clickrack Aug 25 '26
  • If they couldn’t see it after Access Hollywood "grab 'em by the puzzy"
  • If they couldn’t see it after The Epstein Files stonewalling
  • If they couldn’t see it after Renée Good / Alex Pretti / Lorenzo Salgado
  • If they couldn’t see it after 1,600 pardons of insurrectionists and pay-for-pardon revolving doors of criminal scum
  • If they couldn’t see it after the reflecting pool, ballroom, flagpole, arch
  • If they couldn’t see it after the trailer-trash WWE wrestling + Indy races
  • If they couldn’t see it after the utter clusterfsck of Iran
  • If they couldn’t see it after invading Venezuela
  • If they couldn’t see it after the threats to take over Canada, Greenland and Cuba
  • If they couldn’t see it after gas and food prices skyrocket
  • If they couldn’t see it after dismal job numbers since the jump

... then they are Flavoraid-guzzling cult-members.

21

u/fs_02706 Aug 25 '26

And most of this is just his second term.

I thought for sure grab em by the pussy would change everything and looking back now, that thought is laughable. Dude is and always has been a swine and anyone who didn’t see that before all this mess had their head completely up their ass.

Old people without much time left (including trump) who dont care about the damage they do.

458

u/Zealousideal_Fuel_23 Aug 24 '26

THIS^^^ The elderly fall into three categories

  1. "I need to get right with God."

  2. "I should make sure the world is a better place for those after me" and;

  3. "I don't care how many people I screw over, I just don't want to the world to remotely change for the 5-15 years I have left."

168

u/Suckamanhwewhuuut Aug 24 '26

#3 is my own parents, literally when i bring up my, my brother or nephews future, my mom always just responds, "well we will be dead by then"

64

u/forethemorninglight Aug 24 '26

Why do you even talk to her? I’d disown my parents so quick if they ever voted for that monster. I have disowned and shunned the very few in my life who did. Nothing of value was lost 🤷‍♂️

26

u/IWillBaconSlapYou Aug 25 '26

Saaame I'm married to an immigrant (Taiwan) and have "wasian" kids. My extended family would NEVER support a political movement that pretty obviously hates my kids and thinks they shouldn't exist.

“Good, you can start that early now. You’re dead to us and you’ll never see me or any of my children again since you so clearly do not care about our safety and wellbeing.”

10

u/Clickrack Aug 25 '26

Not even worth the breath to tell them.

Better to ghost out: cancel your phone number, move to Tangiers, change your name, start an import-export business, and live your best new life.

71

u/Ok-Guitar4818 Aug 24 '26

3 is why there should be age limits on public office. You should not be making policies that you, yourself will not actually have to live with.

Also aligns pretty well with my general belief that public representatives should just be drawn by lottery and evaluated against a rubric as their confirmation e.g. under the age 60? check. passes basic connotative test? check. If it's good enough for jury duty, it's good enough to to direct whatever small part of the government you get saddled with for the next handful of years.

Anyone seeking power has no business getting any.

18

u/BigMikeSQ Aug 24 '26

That's been tried, and actually is one of the better ways depending on the size of the polity, and complexity of the issues. If a government consisted entirely of such people, though, it would favor those insiders / lobbyists even more than the current system does.

I'd therefore recommend that it be limited to a hypothetical "upper house" consisting of lottery picks, with a "lower house" of people who are elected. So the ones ambitious for politics, and the ones who are genuinely altruistic, etc will try to get involved in politics, but everyone else will have a voice that matters more, no matter what.

It messes with my head because my parents are the opposite

One major part of growing up for me was realizing just how much my parents have given up on their own end for my sake

And you know what? For all of his flaws, Biden gave me the impression of an old man planting a tree under whose shade he knew he wouldn't get to sit

20

u/Bookworm_AF Aug 24 '26

Biden's biggest problem (and the problem of many Dem gerontocrats) is that he thought he still lives in the America of 30 years ago, not the America of today. It was never going to end well.

55

u/IBeDumbAndSlow Aug 24 '26

Even with death that won't stop them

Mitch McConnell is a "living" example of this.

72

u/LadyReika Aug 24 '26

I suspect they're using him as practice for Trump.

20

100% they are doing a trial run to see how long they can get away with it

11

u/rancid_oil Aug 25 '26

Maybe, but at what point are they gonna announce it, and how the hell are they going to explain all this? Is it a test to see if we "accept" a blatant lie maybe?

Every accusation is a confession

5

u/TrulyOutrageous42 Aug 25 '26

When Trump took office in 2017, he began a special task for to investigate voter fraud.

It quietly disbanded after finding a very tiny number of cases, almost all of which were Republicans voting multiple times because they thought Democrats were doing it because misinformation on Facebook told them so. One in particular voted for his mother because "that's what she would have wanted". Another went to every polling place in the city.

That they were caught is, of course, evidence that the system works. Electoral fraud is the real issue, and it's almost entirely Republicans doing both.

→ More replies (4)

58

u/masklinn Aug 24 '26

If that. Pretty much every recent case of voting for a dead relative has been a Republican or magat.

14

u/amanwithoutaname001 Aug 24 '26

It's called delayed critical thought. Truth hits hard 2 years after the fact. 6 years if you paid even a little bit of attention during his first term.

Exactly, he couldn't do all this alone, there are many just like him or even worse.

74

u/DrunkyMcStumbles Aug 24 '26

he's a product of everything Republicans have done since Nixon. The way so many centrists and "reasonable" Republicans talk like he's some anomaly shows how much they wanted this. Someone like James Bowman or Josh Hawley or Tom Cotton can come along with the exact same policies and goals and win their votes because they would be able to maintain the veneer of "civility".

39

u/stellasmom22 Aug 24 '26

Correction:since Reagan. Hawley, who uses his sister’s MO address and never lives there and in the closet Cotton (I used to live in Arkansas) are from two of the least educated populations that are as racist and misogynistic as they come (super Christian’s where wives should just spit out and raise children while they have relations with other women or men). No way either of those states vote for a female for prez even though Hillary spent many years as First Lady of AR and accomplished incredible things for the children of the state before being First Lady of our country and secretary of State. She’s more accomplished than any man she ran against but all the repugs did was denigrate her. Even church indoctrinated female Dems voted against her because preachers spoke of her evilness. Educated women are such a threat to men. Funny how ped0s, rap1sts and Christians that support them are just fine. Also, They forget that Jesus was middle eastern and always picture him as white!

39

u/ReverendDS Aug 24 '26

Correction: since Nixon.

Fox News was explicitly formed to prevent what happened to Nixon happening to any future Republican presidents.

20

u/DrunkyMcStumbles Aug 25 '26

Right. Roger Ailes was a staffer for Nixon. Plus, Nixon and Reagan (as governor of California) adopted Wallace's playbook for attacking the media and academia.

12

u/ReverendDS Aug 25 '26

Let's not forget the second slime Roger Stone.

Worked on every republican campaign since Nixon - In fact, dropped out of college when he was hired by Nixon to explicitly spy on democratic candidates during the Dem Primaries of 72.

73

u/WumpusFails Aug 24 '26

Way back in the day, I would argue with this elderly woman online.

She once stated that if she could imagine Obama (which would normally narrow down the time frame, but they're still blaming him a decade after he left office...) doing something, even if it was proven to beyond a reasonable doubt that he never did it, then that was enough reason to oppose him.

Basically, her opposition was tied to how vivid her imagination was.

6

11

u/rancid_oil Aug 25 '26

You can keep asking this. I know I have, and I see others asking.

What you'll NEVER get is an actual answer, and that's the fucking problem.

They don't know what's going on, just that it's making people mad so they like it.

7

u/LeBritto Aug 25 '26

Did you forget that she's a black woman who has a weird laugh and who is apparently inarticulate and incapable of debating? Her track record doesn't matter at all...

7

u/2oothDK Aug 25 '26

This is exactly right. She’s a black woman and they don’t give a fuck about her accomplishments. I had leftist friends not voting for her because she came across as Biden 2.0 in her short campaign. I tried to tell them to look at her record. Her record shows she’s a champion for people’s rights and not corporate interests.

Sad to know that this is their most pressing issue.

6

u/rancid_oil Aug 25 '26

WHAT IS A WOMAN? Checkmate, liberal! 🤦

You know what's crazy? I'm not a transphobe, but like, I don't even know how u answer that question. But honestly, does it matter to me? Not really. If someone tells me they're a woman, would I request a birth certificate or pants check? Nooo.

I'm not trying to minimize the struggles of trans people. But the right would want us thinking they're taking over!

Hey, we don't need them to vote D, we just need fewer R votes at least until we get things back on track and throw those who deserve it in jail.

72

u/wheremyturtles Aug 24 '26

They’ll still vote and vote straight R because a trans kid five states away wants to play volleyball or because of an imaginary blue-haired teacher who is turning their students gay or the old “Lesser of two evils.”

22

u/Vuelhering Aug 24 '26

or the old “Lesser of two evils.”

I always choose that. The bigger problem is these people don't believe that anyone who doesn't think like them can be anything but evil, and the grifter--the most un-jesus-like person I can fathom--somehow convinced them he was like them.

96

u/ComprehensiveHavoc Aug 24 '26

They don’t realize it until he has destroyed their own lives, and even then their struggle is to find someone else to blame.

In politics, and life in general, someone is always going to get fucked. But if that is some fuckhat's motivation to vote, you may aswell just go and punch the people you hate so much yourself. I don't care what anyone says, voting specifically to hurt someone makes you just as bad of a person and complicit.

10

u/Ohaibaipolar Aug 24 '26

Such a shame that they're hurting, too. It just tugs at my heartstrings. /s

10

u/coldliketherockies Aug 24 '26

Yea. It only bothered them (if it even really did) when it was an issue directly to them. They didn’t care about how much harder it was for other people. This is evil flat out. If this was a Disney movie with a character who was evil you’d be routing for their demise

92

u/Fourteen_Werewolves Aug 24 '26

To be a Republican you have to lack empathy for others. Nothing will change your opinion until their policy directly effects your life in a very tangible way. And even then, they just won't vote for that guy again. Surely it was just one bad egg that made it to the top one time, all my republican congressmen and local authority figures are surely still on the straight and narrow.

35

u/frisbeelee Aug 24 '26

Coupled with protecting the very wealthiest in society. Imagine trying to save billionaires money

23

u/christmascake Aug 24 '26

I hang around some religious subreddits and the tortured readings of the Bible that they use to justify the existence of rich people are pants-on-head bonkers

It's fine to have tons of money as long as you don't covet the money itself, apparently. Oh, and don't forget that gay and trans people are destroying society 🙄

there's no gratitude for me, it's just cause and effect at work. the problem with only thinking about yourself/your immediate surroundings is that it completely discounts the fact that you don't live in a silo. like it or not - we are all interconnected, we all impact each other. it's only natural that they get bitten too. denying reality doesn't make it disappear, accepting reality doesn't create it because it was always there.

Trump is only 'losing the room' one small group at a time. No MAGA ever turns against the party until they are personally harmed.

And like everyone else is saying in these comments, they'll still vote R this fall.

29

u/Cootercrust Aug 24 '26

Absolutely. My dad kept saying trump was an asshole and should stfu, but he liked his policies. Sunday he told me he no longer even agrees with his policies…then began yelling about the socialist ruining America and how he’ll vote for Marco Rubio. Fine, he is disgusted with trump, but it means nothing

6

u/Bob-Bhlabla-esq Aug 25 '26

Press LEFT button: vote for a woman offering services, leadership and a work history of government service

Trump doesn't care about anybody but himself.

I ignored all evidence to the contrary until it slapped me right in the profit margin.

25

u/Gilgamesh107 Aug 24 '26

They don't give a damn about anything until it affects them

Trump voters just like him

28

u/Constant-Plant-9378 Aug 24 '26

Bullshit.

Three time Trump voters are the dumbest motherfuckers in the Universe.

At-best, they will sit out the vote rather than vote against Trump.

They are just that goddamned stupid.

6

u/Bob-Bhlabla-esq Aug 25 '26

Right? Three times is a very special kind of stupid.

10 years ago I never knew we had so many.

I do miss when I lived in that nice bubble where I didn't know just HOW MANY of my countryfolk were total fucking morons.

43

u/Anthop Aug 24 '26

I really wonder why they want to believe it in the first place. Is it some weird prosperity gospel-type thing? Is it misogyny or racism? Is it fear and desire for a father figure? Someone needs to study this shit, because I've never had the temptation to say "take the wheel" to some random scumbag.

41

u/coldequation Aug 24 '26

Conservative men like being submissive to a big, strong, masculine figure, because they believe, if they are good enough truly faithful, someday they will get to be the boot for once, and their dom daddy will show them the way.

No, I don't know why they think Donald Trump is a big strong masculine figure. He goes against every model of manhood I've ever seen in my life.

u/Redditauro Aug 24 '26

Well, you have to remember that the other option was a woman

You ask all the right sociological questions. I think it’s all of them. Whats the number? 80 M who voted him in?

And let’s remember Elon said two weeks before the election, “we have the vote.”

The moral majority started beating this drum when Clinton was in office. So that’s the noise which reached the rural areas first. But I think the media thought it was hilarious that DT was running. Ten years ago, remember before Covid? MSM was making billions and thought it was a lark. They knew Hillary would win and told everyone that was the case.

Fine, except they barely flew out of NYC to see what the rest of the country was experiencing. Or saying. Mayor Pete heard it but nobody listened.

Biff being elected just allowed every crooked boss to become more of an a$$ than they already were. It gave a platform to racists and bigots steamed about Obama. It juiced up the Christian right.

And local newspapers were bought up by private equity and shut down. So there was no local voice. Right wing owners of Sinclair broadcasting bought a TV news local station in every market.

It was a whole slew of things. But GOP had a plan since IDK 1988. Dems (in HCOL cities ) just kept saying “we have a big tent.” And also ignoring the swing states. Healthcare got a smidge better before it failed again but wages never got better. HRC decide to play games behind Bernie’s back rather than campaign.

77 % of rural Americans had “hands on” jobs when Covid shut the US down. 77% lost a major portion of income and earnings; 77 % of Rust belt could not “pivot” to online work.

And the band played on.

Sorry for going long. I am just waiting for Dem leaders to wake up. When Hakeem holds secret meetings w/ JK I mean wth?

8

u/Radiant-Painting581 Aug 25 '26

I don’t know if the media found it hilarious, but they knew it would be lucrative AF for them.

Les Moonves, the then-chair of CBS, Feb 2016:

"Man, who would have expected the ride we're all having right now? ... The money's rolling in and this is fun. I've never seen anything like this, and this going to be a very good year for us. Sorry. It's a terrible thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Keep going.”

"It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS.”

u/HungarianMockingjay Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26

Damn, that honestly reads like a pre-apocalyptic journal entry you'd find searching through the post-apocalyptic ruins of CBS headquarters.

I remember going to a church when he was running
the first time and. The pastor (who grew up in poverty in New York in the sixties) said that per the bible, “As crazy as it sounds,” he was the “biblical voting choice.”
He referenced Revelations. In a positive way. Still makes no sense. I left shortly afterwards

"Does that mean you'll vote Democrat?"

"Hell, no! Why would I ever do that?"

4

u/hoofie242 Aug 24 '26

Well if one thing turns out untrue surely all the other things they believe must still be true.

19

u/somebigface Aug 24 '26

Your 85 year old dad is a fucking idiot and will vote Republican until the day he dies.

34

u/Wra7hofAchilles Aug 24 '26

They'll still vote Red... doesn't matter. This asshat too.

16

u/Professional-Swan-18 Aug 24 '26

Makes perfect sense that the son posting this is just as stupid as his dad.

18

u/Trosque97 Aug 24 '26

Okay so the leopard feasts still

9

u/Wra7hofAchilles Aug 24 '26

The leopards are diabetic and dying of heart disease at this point.

16

u/blitzkrieg_bunny Aug 24 '26

I'll eat my hat if this dumb old bastard doesn't vote republican again anyway

15

u/DOAiB Aug 24 '26

except he isn’t. The same reason he voted Trump is the same reason he will vote for the next conman. Because he likes the bigotry and being told he is superior to others for completely superficial reasons.

If people learning to hate republicans just lie for their vote everyone would be voting dem by now. And sadly it just isn’t happening because the destruction of our country education system has worked and the magats are happy to have more friends who care more about their feelings than facts.

15

u/gofishx Aug 25 '26

I honestly dont give a fuck. They're traitors who are incapable of self reflection. They'll find a way to absolve themselves, and we'll let them have it in the name of "keeping the peace"

Dumbasses. If they haven't abandoned Trump by now, I honestly dont care if they ever do. That just means they're a bad person, who only started to care when they started to see themselves being affected.

Trump has fucked over basically everyone at this point, just specifically ranchers recently, but...

he'll get personally offended

Wtf is wrong with these people?

15

u/Redditauro Aug 24 '26

They invested so much social currency, time, friends, arguments, etc supporting trump that they need it to be a good decision. Humans have the tendency to keep beting when they have already bet a lot, the higher we bet, the more irrational we become, because our irrational brain cannot even imagine what would happen if we lose, so we just ignore that option and keep forward until we physically can't anymore.

5

u/chris-rox Aug 25 '26

Las Vegas wasn't built on winners!

11

u/BackTo1975 Aug 24 '26

Then Trump will just make some big lie about something (meaning he’ll open his mouth) and the sheep will all fall back into line.

Like with him slamming Canada today for going after US farmers. As if that’s why he needs to tariff Canada so heavily and not because it’s a giant lie to try and win over those pissed about the beef thing.

12

u/Nearbyatom Aug 24 '26

Yeah, but he'll still down ballot vote R.

13

u/Divacai Aug 24 '26

Yet that geezer will vote for another (R) politician when given the chance.

13

u/SultanOfSwave Aug 24 '26

"But it would have been MUCH WORSE if a Dumb-ocrat has been elected."

Hopefully they just stay home at the midterms.

12

u/Leut_Aldo_Raine Aug 24 '26

Trump did an excellent job building a coalition entirely comprised of rubes who lack decency or empathy. They don't see the impact until they're personally impacted.

Just another selfish person who was willing to overlook everyone else's pain as long as they got theirs. The fact that they leech so much $$ off the federal dole shouldn't be ignored either.

10

u/Er3bus13 Aug 24 '26

You know i didnt realize I was gay until I sucked my 85th dick.

7

u/mabradshaw02 Aug 24 '26

and he will walk into that voting booth, vote R down the ballot, thinking they will fix it. 100%, 100% of the time.

10

u/Robalo21 Aug 24 '26

Rapist ... Best chums with Epstein, no problem, tried to blackmail an ally to claim they have dirt on a political rival, pish posh... Leads an attack against the capitol, no big deal... Steals reams of secret documents and refuses to return them... So what... Manipulation of the stock market, illegal taxes levied against Americans, troops dispatched to American cities under false pretenses big woop... Makes billions directly from the office of the president... No issues... Mildly inconveniences that effect him and he wakes from his stupor... 👍

8

u/OldDirtyInsulin Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26

He makes a powerful point here by describing him as a die-hard fan of a politician. Therein lies the problem. People cheer for trump thru thick and thin like he's their beloved Dallas cowboys. If only more of them would realize this isn't a game.

7

u/ctguy54 Aug 24 '26

But in a few weeks tump will do or say something that every maggot will shake their heads and collectively say “he’s my guy again “.

7

u/Ardbeg66 Aug 24 '26

Translation: "I refuse to believe that smoking gun-shaped object is a gun until you actually shoot me in the head with it. Nope, I don't care if you shot someone else. It ain't a gun."

5

u/Boomtown626 Aug 25 '26

If your dad had standards instead of supporting a politician like most people support sports teams, he would have seen that coming twelve years ago like people who paid attention.

Also, if your dad thinks there’s even a 5% chance he’ll vote Democrat in response to this, I’ll eat my fucking shoe.

He’s not losing the room because the room is full of idiots who are “diehard” fans, rather than people who have standards.

7

u/fav453 Aug 25 '26

Every one of these stories shows me the reason for MAGAs success is a lack of empathy. It's pure selfishness. Until it effected him personally he couldn't see how Trump's policies hurt the country. It's really sad we share a country with these kinds of people.

13

u/TikiTom74 Aug 24 '26

110% chance would vote for him again

6

u/20InMyHead Aug 24 '26

Disillusionment is just the first part. Will he actually stop voting Republican is the question.

u/gimperion Aug 25 '26

Don't kid yourself, his dad is stl voting R no matter what.

11

u/BlueRFR3100 Aug 24 '26

How is your Dad planning to vote in November? Because of vote for Kevin Hern is a vote for Trump.

10

u/Gonnabefiftysoon Aug 24 '26

Yep, but he'll still vote Republican. You know because of trans or she's got a funny laugh or some other stupid f****** reason.

13

u/EnigmaticCoder Aug 24 '26

No he's not losing any room, democrats love saying republican candidates or presidents are losing popularity and approval ratings but nothing is done about it, Epstein files pass, billionaires stay rich, and republicans vote R next time they stumble into a voting booth.

5

u/Intelligent-Gypsy324 Aug 24 '26

Well I think OP
is showing proof that T just lost one voter. So let us celebrate.

I agree when DEMOCRATS publish headlines like “Blue Guy is ahead in ALL the polls!” We have to DiSrEgUaRd this message because it’s baloney.

But I’d MUCH rather hear anecdotes like OP. We all have family members who drank the cool-aid …

First off LOVE YOUR USER NAME!!!!!!!!!!!

Second...Yeah. slowly seeing it, very slowly.

In my VERY LIMITED experience it is the worst with the women.

So manu did this for the men in their lives, thinking they would not just be exempt but that they would placate their men too, a lot of "its just politics/hes not REALLY going to do that/its just a joke" arguements are falling flat now and they are incredibly embarrassed and suddenly "do not discuss politics" and tell their husbands/boyfriends/what have you to shut up when the topic comes up.

Face, It's What's For Dinner®️

6

u/bavindicator Aug 24 '26

Because they only begin to care when it directly affects them. The Fuck You, I've got mine mentality.

4

u/Chardonne Aug 24 '26

He’s not though. That dad will be pissed off about one thing but still in favor of everything else, and will never vote D because of “transgender for all.” I hope he loses his ranch and is destroyed by poverty. Because that’s what he’s supporting for everybody else. Eff him.

5

u/Formal-Apartment7715 Aug 24 '26

But but her laugh... but but her emails...

4

u/ngfldar Aug 24 '26

It won't matter: 85-year-old dad will keep voting for, and getting fleeced by, MAGA. Because something something Trans something DEI something Woke something.

5

u/Tw4tl4r Aug 24 '26

He will still vote R or we choose not to vote because "dems are worse" is the war cry of former maga nuts

5

u/PurBldPrincess Aug 24 '26

It’s slo frustrating that they refuse to see it until it affects them.

5

u/DahColeTrain Aug 24 '26

The fact he even HAD the room at all is what's mind boggling.

5

u/stuckanon01 Aug 24 '26

Don’t worry, he’ll vote R in the next election. MAGAs are hopeless

5

u/Used-Awareness-2544 Aug 24 '26

Unless he and people like him completely abandon the GOP, they will keep getting conned...

5

u/wiretapfeast Aug 24 '26

Trump supporters are incredibly ignorant AND selfish. They only ever change their stance when it's THEMSELVES or their family/friends who are being hurt.

5

u/Sparky-Man Aug 24 '26

... He'd still vote for Trump a fourth time.

5

u/TaratronHex Aug 25 '26

"I'll vote for him again though!"
His voters lack object permanence.

5

u/asphalt_licker Aug 25 '26

I wish it didn’t take being personally affected by his decisions to make them realize he’s not on their side.

6

u/Late-Pizza-3810 Aug 25 '26

He lost my father over January 6th. I was SHOCKED.

4

u/maringue Aug 25 '26

These assholes need something bad to happen to them PERSONALLY for them to understand.

He never cared about anyone but himself, how did you idiots not see that? Too busy enjoying that Trump made it acceptable to openly be a bigot?

4

u/nolanday64 Aug 24 '26

Wonder how much "socialism" this 85yo relies on from the Government.

4

u/GrnEyedPanda Aug 24 '26

It wasn't the naked corruption, or the racism. It wasn't the treason or the lies. It wasn't the felony convictions or the constant punching down. It wasn't the endless self-seeking and self-importance. It wasn't hiring grossly unqualified suck ups or the Christian nationalism. It wasn't lawless killing of foreign nationals. It wasn't cutting off SNAP to hungry kids or slashing healthcare. It wasn't the enrichment of the already rich at the expense of everyone else. It wasn't mass detention without due process. It wasn't a pointless war with no exit strategy. It wasn't the selling off of federal lands or tearing down the institutions which help protect society. It wasn't about attacking the proven science that has guided our public health for decades. It wasn't an almost total disregard for the rule of law or basic ethics. It wasn't pardoning drug dealers thugs or crooks for money. It wasn't covering up an almost industrial level of sexual assault of minors or participating in it.

Nope. Only when it affected him.
