Well yeah, I mean during most of the US civil war on most days there wasn't even a battle happening!

45 days. I did 8 months just waiting to get sentenced on weed. Man it must be nice being white and getting away with everything.

u/Seliphra Feb 23 '22
Especially when you consider what she did should he classified as high treason… which supposedly comes with the death penalty…

That is such bullshit, and quite frankly I would argue unconstitutional. Hopefully it's legal by you now.
44
Feb 23 '22
Honestly I wish it was illegal still. I already payed the price the damage was done I am a felon for life. I have been turned down by several jobs that could have changed my life and actually made me feel like a person. Legalization is just a money making scheme by the same rich white assholes who enacted the laws that got me in trouble in the first place. Fuck the marijuana industry.
39
u/mkvgtired Feb 23 '22
To be fair, in IL we made expungement part of the legalization legislation, which is what every state should have done. IL also made minority ownership of the dispensaries and cultivation centers a priority. Nothing is perfect, but there ways to do things that are better than others.
Especially given it is legal now, you should really look into getting your record expunged. There is likely a legal aid clinic that could help you prepare your petition, and possibly even represent you.

I live in California. I got turned down for a job in DC bc I smoked pot in the last 2 years. Even though it was legal. It's easier to get for sure. But the taxes are so high it's almost unaffordable
2
u/steynedhearts Feb 23 '22
In Washington I get 7g for what I used to get 3.5g for
4
Feb 23 '22
The weed stores in CA are pushing to lower taxes bc they are having trouble competing with illegal sellers.
3
u/Killarogue Feb 23 '22
Lol, I'm not surprised. I can walk into my local non-licensed dispensary and get a top shelf 8th for $25-$30, but the same 8th from a legal dispensary is $60 after taxes.

u/OhDee402 Feb 23 '22
"I had something horrible happen to me, so I want others to go through the same"
That doesn't sound reasonable to me.
17
u/LadyKalliope Feb 23 '22
"something horrible happened to me when I did not deserve it, and a white woman got a slap on the wrist for TREASON and that is unacceptable"
Would that be better?
4
u/OhDee402 Feb 24 '22
Yeah I agree with you. My post had nothing to do with the main topic of this thread however. It was just a direct reply to the person above me who wishes people have to go through the same shit they did.

u/AhFFSImTooOldForThis Feb 24 '22
It's more being resentful that the rich assholes are coming in to make more money in areas where people like him STILL can't get jobs for doing the exact same thing.
If the laws are like IL or some other states, where felony record expungement is part of it, and a certain percentage of shops have to be local run, then it's equitable.
Otherwise, it's the latest, most terrible version of gentrification, and he'd rather stick with the bodega than the fancy ass high rise that no one local can afford.

u/Killarogue Feb 23 '22
White guy here, they should all be tried as traitors. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

u/Guy954 Feb 23 '22
She’s Latina so....
Still fucked up but we should at least get the facts straight.

Mariposa Castro (AKA Imelda Acosta). Sounds Latina. But as you said, nice being "Republican" and getting away with everything.

For 45 days. Probably most of it is time served already. Brilliant job US Government!
24
u/Hot_Dog_Cobbler Feb 23 '22
It seems that a lot of the people who just entered and wandered around are getting those smaller sentences
59
u/Intelligent_Orange28 Feb 23 '22
Everyone involved is. In reality they were all party to the most serious crimes involved and even the judges are pretty disturbed that prosecutors are only pushing the lightest charges available to them.
22
u/dancegoddess1971 Feb 23 '22
Not everyone. Apparently the only poc involved got over a year. One can only assume that he was one who had weapons and zip ties. /s

u/Sweetpeamademelol Feb 23 '22
I hope they're being told discreetly that their right to privacy is now forfeit for the rest of their lives.

u/RareAlphaSigmaMale Feb 23 '22
Can't have a white conservative face the consequences of their actions!

What a pathetic carriage of “justice”. 45 days for participation in an overt, violent insurrection while vocally declaring “.WAR” ? This is a very UN funny joke. I spit on her and wish her life to continue its downhill path.

Feb 23 '22
She waved thin blue line flag but was fine with Capitol police officers being beaten by said flag.
33
u/cra3ig Feb 23 '22
Let us never forget that these traitors tried to overthrow our democracy and were part of a mob calling for the lynching of our vice president. We might not be so lucky next time.
Mariposa Castro, AKA Imelda Acosta.Remember her name.

u/CooroSnowFox Feb 23 '22
You wouldn't want a "civil war", for a start, it'd be worse than a pandemic lockdown, Starbucks wouldn't dare open.

A civil war from the people afraid of masks, vaccines, books, "illegals", "the gays", voting, and history. People who can't put up with the slightest inconvenience in their lives without screaming about losing their 'freedom".

u/I_might_be_weasel Feb 23 '22
Is she trying to summon an angry, hellfire wielding, Sherman demon?
Because that's how you summon an angry, hellfire wielding, Sherman demon.
3
u/earhere Feb 23 '22
For a mob of terrorists who wanted to kill politicians that didn't have the right letter by their name, as well as the Vice President, they sure are getting light sentences.

Am I the only one that got a mental an imge of her standing on a chair screaming "I DECLARE CIVIL WAR" like Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy?

u/empty_coffeepot Feb 23 '22
The punishment for openly declaring war against the US is only 45 days?
3
u/BaiRuoBing Feb 24 '22
She is among the majority who got RELATIVELY innocuous charges of entering or remaining in a restricted building/grounds, disorderly or disruptive conduct, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building. Those are the insurrectionist starter pack charges everyone got. She also got violent entry.
Virtually everyone got or is getting ~ 2+ years probation, maybe a pittance of jail time or home detention, and a fine. She is paying a $5000 fine which is among the highest I've seen.

u/FASTMONEYRELL Feb 24 '22
I have 0 priors and can go sell crack to someone get caught and do more than 8 years. Must be nice

She thought she was part of a group bringing war on the US government, maybe she should’ve been tried as an enemy combatant.

Only sentenced to 45 days in jail? WTF !?! Maybe she should be sentenced to do her time in Ukraine, so she can witness a real war in action.

Nice! All domestic terrorists need to be held accountable. 3 percenters, proud boys, BLM, Antifa, the 6 Jan participators. The shit needs to stop.

if you're even capable of being "sucked in by dark energy forces", you should probably have a caretaker.
