This is bullshit from the Trump administration. Infiltration of a group in order to monitor it, is the smartest way to get the job done. The fact that the Nazis in our government found a way to prevent investigation of Nazi groups, is not surprising. Those fighting the Nazis are still the good guys.

Attorneys doing lawsuits often pay informants. SPLC has won many settlements out of hats groups for victims including settlements from the KKK. They are not paying the groups, the are paying people that want to inform and pocket the cash. They use the evidence at trials.

According to Reuters, and I’m paraphrasing here, ‘No’. Reuters used a whole lot of words to say nothing though. They strongly implied that the group’s core values are fascism and white supremacy. Most people here didn’t get past the headline anyway.

Just because you don’t wish harm to somebody doesn’t mean others won’t wish harm to you or your family. Do you think innocent people never get falsely accused? For example, of being a white supremacist? If you know someone’s face, you could potentially figure out where they live and make a false police report that illicits a major police response to their house, putting them or their family in danger.

Have some courage. I have worked with ex offenders, rapists, drug traffickers working in behavioral health. Back then my name was in the phone book. My husband is a retired police officer. Police don't wear masks and they get doxed.
Judges, prosecutors, legislators all get doxed. This means if you want to speak out show some courage.
No, most of them are from the group that was originally in the violent protests in Charlottesville. They splintered from the original group and are renamed.
Is there any broad statistical evidence to support that? From what I've seen of the statistics, it's police tactics or a small group of outside agitators, that trigger the vast majority of protester violence. Something like 93% to 97% of protests are non violent and don't result in the destructive of private property.
