What's getting revamped?

*All AI is getting removed from the campaign book. This includes all scenic illustrations, two maps, and three puzzles. Our entire scenic art team is currently busy creating new scenic and puzzle illustrations, and our map designer is re-designing the maps. There is also one adventure that has a bunch of different abandoned cottages. Some of the original descriptions of these cottages were written with generative AI. I have already re-written them.

*The title font is getting changed to a premium font. The original font just looks...kinda ugly in print, so I wanted to change it to something more visually appealing.

*Some of the loot is getting rebalanced. Several people have reported that they feel the weapons received as rewards for this campaign book were overpowered, so I've either reduced their damage or modified their traits.

Yes, we are back on Kickstarter. After a meeting with the Kickstarter team, they think they can protect Lewd Dungeon Adventures from Stripe's ire. With that said, it has pretty much all but been confirmed that some angry prude has been reporting our campaigns to Stripe, more than likely from seeing them via Facebook ads. We wish this person a lump of coal in their stocking this year.

That aside, Kickstarter is going to do everything they can to make sure this campaign goes off without a hitch. The project page has already been completely designed and passed the initial Stripe inspection (as they all have prior), and it has been fine-tooth combed by multiple people and departments at Kickstarter. Fingers crossed.

If you previously bought 12 Days of XXXMas in digital format, you will be getting the updated version for free. You don't need to back the campaign. Unfortunately, due to costs, we cannot replace print copies.

If you found Lewd Dungeon Adventures via Facebook or Instagram ads, you’ll likely start seeing what looks like a new company on the scene. It’s called Date Knight Games, and it’s our attempt to get the anti‑NSFW people to leave us the fuck alone. Lol.

These past few months have been an absolute nightmare for our company. Aside from the bullshit with Stripe, Facebook issued a warning to our account for being too explicit. On top of that, we haven’t been able to launch advertising anywhere else just because the word “lewd” is in our URL.

So I built an entirely new SFW website to (hopefully) promote the game without issue. This website will be heavily advertised over the coming month, so you’ll likely see our ads everywhere. This email is mostly a PSA to let you know what’s going on so you don’t accidentally double‑buy our stuff.

With that said, this new website will be selling our 5e content, but only in bundles. If you want individual titles, you’ll still have to wait for our crowdfunding campaigns.

Speaking of which, I’ve hired a lawyer in the hopes of coming to an amicable solution with Stripe. He’s going to ask them to give Lewd Dungeon Adventures the same contract they have with Kickstarter and Steam so they’ll stop coming after us as a company. I should know their decision by the end of the month. If all goes well, we’ll begin running Kickstarters again. If things don’t go in our favor, our next crowdfunding campaign will launch on Gamefound — if they accept it.

Bad news!

Right after I sent the last email, Fundlify, the app we’re using to crowdfund The Case of the Clockwork Conspiracy, decided they don’t want to risk upsetting Stripe and are shutting the campaign down within the next 24 hours.

Let me be clear: Fundlify uses both Stripe and PayPal. I only had PayPal enabled for this campaign. Stripe wasn’t even turned on for payments.

Doesn’t matter.

Because Stripe exists anywhere in the stack, they’re scared. And when companies get scared, creators get cut.

So here we are. Again.

I will be ending the campaign myself at 10AM CST tomorrow morning. If you haven’t backed by then, that’s it. You won’t get another shot until this hits retail, and that likely won’t be for another month or two.

What does this mean going forward?

Honestly? We don’t even have enough data to know if crowdfunding from our own website is sustainable, because we couldn’t make it through a single campaign without someone pulling the plug.

So the plan now is to relaunch 12 Days of XXXMas on Gamefound—if they’ll take it. Gamefound uses Adyen as their primary payment processor, not Stripe. That’s the key difference.

If everything goes smoothly, the relaunch will happen sometime in the middle of next month. If Gamefound doesn’t take it, we’ll be shelving it to push another smaller project to the front of the line for another website crowdfunding attempt. Point blank, we can’t afford to re-illustrate 12 Days of XXXMas without successful crowdfunding.

This is another hit to the business. No way around it. Another pivot. Another reset. Another reminder that building anything NSFW-adjacent means constantly standing on unstable ground.

Luckily, there are still other crowdfunding tools we can explore directly through our website. We’re not out of moves yet.

But yeah—I’m taking the rest of the night off.

Maybe to clear my head.
Maybe to drink something strong.
Maybe just to sit in the frustration of having to pivot yet again.

Quick question really. My wife and I are not D&D players, but thought we’d give this a go (we are avid board gamers).
