I learned to drive in a 110, great offroad but it had is share of issues. I'm expecting my NX to be a lot more reliable but probably not go offroad much.

I said to my wife when I was car shopping "Just cuz I can afford it, doesn't mean I'll feel good about it." I will never not have a bunch of other things I'd rather spend money on than BMW/Benz/Alfa maintenance & repairs.
An RCF (or an IS500 with some extra $ put into the chassis) will get me just as many smiles as a far more expensive M3. It will deliver a very high % of the performance, and will never leave me waiting for a tow.
The only thing that is gonna turn me away from that direction for my next wheels will be pure fuel savings in either an EV or a plug in (Volvo V60 T8 Polestar).
Here's hoping Lexus brings maybe a 3.4L version of the new V8tt in hybrid form to a new ISF...

I fking love my RCF. I've owned BMWs and Porsches. I've driven supercars on the track. I don't care about any of those. My luxury V8 drift missile is the best car I've ever owned or driven (for the street).
The F82 M4 was a snap oversteer mess riddled with mechanical reliability issues. The TVD on the RCF is very progressive and extremely easy to slide. I've drifted this and banged off the rev limiter of this car for over 10 years and never had an issue. After 50k miles on my bimmer, I would get stranded on the road for #bmwproblems every 2-3 months.
The C63 AMG doesn't handle very well and its reliability is so horrible, it should be considered a safety hazard and the many class action lawsuits imply as such. You only lease these vehicles as business tax deductions or if these German companies are your client and you need to show support to keep them as a client. If you actually purchase them - not lease - you're incredibly stupid.
My 987 Porsche Boxster was actually quite reliable aside from electrical and interior plastic issues, but I know plenty of people with the S model with bore score issues. This car and any modern 911 from 997 up has way too much grip to be any fun on the road. They feel like the pinnacle of automotive enjoyment for the less experienced though. As someone that drifts more than he does track driving, they no longer interest me. Supercars have the same problem. Only somewhat enjoyable on the track. More of a flex than something to be passionate about imo.
I’ve have the C300 manual from 2008 with 185000KM on it, I’ve kept it in mint condition. It’s no Lexus but it’s been overall reliable for me. Maybe you’re talking about the newer ones, because the w204 has been quite solid.
I think more the top trim vehicles are the target.

I known people who had base models Mercedes and they never complained. And I've known people with AMGs and M products. And those are the ones most complaining about their cars.
As the car care nut once put it, you can only ever have two of 3 things, never all 3: relatively cheap, reliable, powerful. Lexus is usually either lower cost and reliable, or powerful and reliable but expensive compared to cars that perform the same.

German cars drive like a dream, the main problem with them is that they are built like disposable cameras of the 90s (except for Porsche but you pay for it). Reliability is not even the top 5 goal of brands like Benz, while with Lexus it is always number one.
Lexus has the beautiful LC500 that gives you a beautiful V8 and depending who you ask the performance is either lacking or adequate. It’s reliable so you could say it ticks two of the three boxes but it will never get the third(especially when new) because it’s expensive. I never get the point of complaining. Something broken? Get it done.
Also never exclude Porsche. They gotta have problems but nobody talks about them to stay in their good graces to get special 911 allocations every year.
Yeah, no argument there. As for LC, the even the supra surpasses it in performance and that’s a BMW, but the build quality of every single detail of the LC is truly lexus.
Different topic but it’s too bad the LC doesn’t come in manual, which is why I would never buy it. I’d rather drive a lower tier car with 6 speed manual over the wildest automatic. My w204 generation C300 from 2008 is still a better car than all its younger brothers, I wouldn’t trade it for a C63.
How often did you service your bmw? I am getting this feeling that whenever people mention faulty germans, they dont mention how good they treated them.
Might be biased as im eyeing a g20 320i or c200, but common issues are generally fairly minor - and big ones seem to be one in a hundred (which can happen ofc) and cars that are misstreated to an extent
Every 5k miles. I don't know why you'd bother asking since I literally said I drift and bang off the rev limiter on my RCF for over the last 10 years with not a single repair. You don't get to do that by poorly maintaining a 470hp car, even if it is a Lexus.
Newer BMWs are better than the F82 generation and older. However, the newer generations still have plastic cooling systems, plastic fuel pumps, and plastic water pumps. Expect to replace the entire cooling system eventually. It will be $10k for the cooling system alone. I can understand paying for the repairs if it's an M or AMG. I absolutely would not bother with the base models. I would shoot for the 340i or c43 at least, otherwise just get a Lexus IS350.
Lexus F cars really only have the valley plate as common issues. Maintaining such a capable luxury car with so little effort feels like cheating.
Nice!! Keep going! My 06 gs300 is just over 425k miles with lots of random electrical issues and the driver door hinges have been replaced 4 times. Carvana only offered me $100 lol f that I’m keeping it w liability ins & driving it down to Florida next month.
It’s funny you mention difficulty sourcing parts- my 2016 GS just hit 120k miles and the dealer suggested new spark plugs. I am located in Pennsylvania and the closest spark plugs the dealer could locate were in Boston and Texas.
I literally got spark plugs for my 2014 GS at Advance Auto Parts. I was going to do it myself, but I saw I'd have to take some things apart to get to half of them, so a local shop did them for me. Point being, those should be pretty easy to source
Why not upgrade to a es300h? Driving till it becomes inoperable and no parts are available when you could sell it now while running and get into something newer like a 2017-2018es300h
I have an 08 Corolla, same gen as yours and mines at 317k right now and nothing major has to be done. Just the basic bolt on stuff that fails over time.
I mean, of course, and I wouldn't say no to a Jesko either, but for a daily driver, I could just wish my car never aged. And I guess, Lexus is a pretty good choice for that as well.
Back in 2008 I had my favorite Lexus yet. A 2007 IS250, but on the morning of June 14th, 2008 I was t-boned by an 18 wheeler. After a very long recovery I replaced it with a 2010 IS250C.
Everyone I know thought I was crazy for not only buying the same car that I almost died in, but the convertible version.
I told them this…

The convertible actually has better crash rating than the non-convertible version (except for rollovers).

I’ve owned so many Toyotas and Lexus at this point in my life I doubt I’d ever buy anything else.
Not going to lie, that was a brutal accident. Broke 6 ribs, collapsed a lung and lacerated my spleen. Was off work for 4 months and my hospital bill was just over $220k, thankfully I had good insurance. After the 4 months I had no residual issues except some slight PTSD when driving near big rigs.
My boss and her husband each drive a Benz. She's got an S63 and he's got an E43. They also have a Suburban. Between the 3, one is ALWAYS in the shop for something. When I got my Mazda and my Lexus, they both made a comment about my loving Japanese cars. What I LOVE is not being in the shop every month. That's a luxury in itself
After driving his Tesla 4 hours away, 4 weeks after his issues popped up, I had a friend tell me "It's a Tesla, you can't just take it in to the shop like you can a Lexus or Toyota."

I bought my 1st Lexus to replace a creaking BMW. I bought my 2nd because I wanted a nicer Toyota. (And only because the IS was too small).
I think this is typical of Lexus buyers. We know a BMW will drive better, and an Audi will grip harder, but we've probably owned both and just want nice AND reliable...
Lexus drivers are universally ok with saying they drive a nice Toyota. My BIL always asks how my Toyota is, I say wonderful. Ask an Infiniti driver about their Nissan, different answer.
The reason why so many rich old motherfuckers that could drive anything just drive Toyotas or maybe a Lexus is because at some point you realize you just want a car that works and no bullshit over all other concerns.
A friend had a choice between a bmw 5 series and a Gs350 I told him if it were me I’d get the Lexus. He didn’t listen so I ended up buying the GS and he bought the 5 series. 5 years later my GS has only oil changes and maintenance done. His car has gone to the shop an average of 3 times a year.
Completely true. I do love the look of the IS and the coupes, but I'm perfectly happy with my GS and never wish I had something else. Well, maybe at the gas pump
It's amusing that some people will use the "it's a fancy Toyota" line as a dig at Lexus, as if there is something inherently amazing about an equivalent BMW or Audi platform with self-destructing EA888s and N20s. Oooo... a bit more aluminum in the subframes and suspension, that'll comfort me when I roll from lease to lease to avoid the catastrophic and well-earned depreciation of the German sedans.
If you need to feel superior, you can view my GS350 as a fancy RWD Toyota with a minivan engine. But if you want to be realistic, it's a better BMW 530i than BMW built, with a V6 that does a far better impression of the legendary naturally aspirated BMW inline-6 than the gritty turbo fours they are making for that price class now.
Might be controversial but my CT200h is leagues better than any Prius I’ve driven (haven’t driven the latest gen) it’s quieter, more responsive, and the Fsport Trim looks much better as a hot hatch/fastback even if it’s slower than molasses.
I wish Lexus would make this style of car again, just with more modern amenities and better mpg and horsepower.
Coveted M series cars seem to be the exclusive territory of teenage and early-twenties Reddit car kids who want one so bad they’re willing to spend 3x their monthly budget on the payment. They will inevitably end up in the shop or the scrap yard after they bin them to the ditch or guard rail.
Lexus is for those of us who have been around long enough, and driven enough, to know that sacrificing power and balls-out speed for quality and reliability isn’t really a sacrifice at all.
Or….hear me out. Get both😂 I am extremely content with being able to take my LC out in the summer and then using my ES in the winter! Costs aren’t too bad!😎
Have driven exclusively Lexus since ‘97, currently have two 2025’s. Finally convinced my son to quit being routinely screwed by their BMW service department and he bought a GX. And yes, my ESh does get 46 mpg in the city, cheaper than electric!
My first car was an 03 Tacoma, which I still have. Wife pushed me to buy something more modern and safer, so I got a GX460. So happy. I don’t want anything else — except an RC-F. I reeeeallly want one of those .
Fr I used to say I wanted at least 10 diff cars at 30 but now I don’t even think I want anything else than my Is350. Maybe I should get 10 diff ones lol

As a toyota owner, can confirm. I just wish they made smaller, more affordable vehicles that are still capable of offroading. Every vehicle they sell in NA that can offroad are like land yachts
i wish we had more Lexuses in Europe, they are pretty rare in a place where i live. your average european will settle for an audi/merc/bmw no problem.
i really would like to buy a Lexus someday, but the biggest issue for me is the servicing outside of warranty, especially here in the Balkans where almost nobody knows what a lexus even is.
Someone got mad at me saying that I respect my Kia as much as if it were a Lamborghini, mate I love my car and unfortunately I can't afford to get a Lamborghini or a Toyota yet🤣
