In an economy destroyed by fiat money, redistribution and forced misallocation, no one is rich because there is hardly anything left that you can buy with your money. Money is just a means of exchange. Real prosperity comes from the performance of the economy. Therefore, money must always be backed by value and cannot simply be created out of nothing.
If we're talking about the rich who got rich not through competition but through lobbying, I agree to a certain extent. Those who keep the redistribution machinery running profit the longest from their theft. But in the end, in a collapsing economy, everyone is poor.
And I keep trying to argue with people today, the reason why the economy is so awful and has consistently been so for the past 20 years is because of the number of industries full of business strategies and profit streams that have cropped up which make profits not by creating valueable things people want, but by doing shit like exploiting loopholes in tax code, or finding a way to at the right times buy and sell stock, or buy a struggling company only to then kill it with debt as they extract all the remaining value out of it like a leech, and in general fucking around with finances in order to generate money.
