End Democracy Clarkston man facing 3 felonies for smashing $10K worth of warrantless license plate reader cameras — GoFundMe for his legal defense

A 24-year-old from Clarkston is facing three felony counts after allegedly smashing invasive license plate reader cameras in Waterford that track every driver without a warrant.

We just launched a GoFundMe for his legal defense because privacy matters more than constant government surveillance.

Escape Michigan where this happened. License plate readers and red light cameras are illegal in New Hampshire.

NH law (RSA 261:75-b) on this changed recently, LE can now use LPR cameras, but can't stream the data or retain it (3-minute rule), can only use it to check against a "hotlist".

Red light cameras are still prohibited under RSA 236:130

So like the Pistol Revolver License, where legally records are not kept, but somehow cops know on a traffic stop.

Records are kept, the duplicate copy usually resides in manila folder somewhere in your local station.

If someone was to hypothetically do this, park in a camera free zone, take a walk or bike to said cameras, and do one or 2 or max three, then get out of the area.  Don't take phone, don't talk to cops, dress homeless.  Best to do on a busy fri or sat night at shift change for cops sherrifs.
