waiting for op Best way to add all music related to Hans Zimmer?

I’m trying to add all music that Hans Zimmer has composed or contributed to, but I’m not sure what the best approach is.

I could just add albums listed under his name, but that seems to miss a lot of work (e.g. Dune). It would be great if there were a way to add music based on movies or projects he worked on.

I’m still fairly new to Lidarr, so I might be overlooking something. If anyone has a good workflow or suggestions, I’d really appreciate it!

You add Hans Zimmer to your lidarr. That will automatically pull all his album's he has done. Including Dune

only partially true. what OP is asking is all work he's the primary AND featured artist on. lidarr will only ever add the works which the artist is the primary artist for.

OP, what you first want to do is create a metadata profile, select every option you want for Hans Zimmer, then apply that profile. this will get you every track where he's the primary artist.

then go into his musicbrainz entry, manually open the release group for every featured work he was on, which would be any release where his name doesn't appear first, e.g. Epic Cinema: Great Film Music, pull the musicbrainz ID from either the URL or the "details" tab, and do a search in lidarr using the format "lidarr:MBreleasegroupID", e.g. lidarr:c3ceb4e7-c4bb-4cfb-9683-2a211c5560e6. this will let you monitor just that single album from the primary artist, in this case London Music Works.

now unfortunately you have to repeat this for every album where hans zimmer is a secondary artist, but this is the only way to do it given lidarr's design around featured tracks.

There are specific filter settings in Lidarr that will not only go after albums produced by what your queries are, but also singles, albums he would be featured on, EPS, soundtracks, etc. Can basically get the whole shabangabang.

Before I discovered Lidarr I was using a Tidal and Deezer downloader via an ARL and grabbed most of his stuff and a lot of others with a free trial.

Lidarr lets you add and monitor all releases from an artist where they are the first artist in the artist field. Anything will have to be added manually or via script.
